- Hello everyone and welcome back to Inside Arsenal.
In today’s show I look at the latest news around Riccardo Calafiori’s move to Arsenal and give my thoughts on the travelling squad for the USA tour.
Bonucci tears hits like fucking crack 😍😍
Recognise so many of the young lads from the Jack Wilshere back home Arsenal documentary. So good to see them involved
We were confused about why Arteta wants to sign another left back when in fact left backs we already have are often only covering left sides of their hospital beds. Tomi, Zinchenko, Timber, Tierney... they all missed so many games due to injuries. That position feels a little cursed in recent years. Wish Tomi speedy recovery.
Tierney doesn't count. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Calafiori takes over the #3 shirt. Zinchenko is useful mainly against low blocks and defensive duties aren't a real concern. Timber is a right-sided defender that Arteta decided to play on the left. He should be competition/back-up for White. And, since he's a #10 turned into a defender, maybe he can be an option for a ball playing 6? Tomiyasu, who can play all across the back is injury prone. No, Calafiori is not a luxury signing.
Tomiyasu played his best games in an arsenal shirt at Left back.
Tomi is injury prone that’s how it goes 🤷🏽♂️
Come on Arsenal!!
To SEE is TO Believe
Been waiting all day for a new video Mr. Watts.
Thanks for the News update.
I've always liked Rosiak, I have watched him Live a few times. He reminds me of Trent / Beckham type. Very talented, technically gifted. I really like Sagoe Jr, Lewis -skelly and obviously Nwaneri. Will be intersting to see if these boys get game time on tour.
Rosiak definitely being slept on by most supporters. He's very good everytime I see him play.
Yh saw him score an amazing free kick last season against city in fa pith cup
I like Rosiak too, he's a great dead piece specialist. I hope he can make it at Arsenal
HIGH WATTAGE ⚡⚡⚡
Cringe.
Why would you expect Kiwior to go? He was part of the first 11 for our best run last season. He's clearly got quality and has been playing out of position. I think you and others miss the fact that Arteta doesn't rate Gabriel and only the injury to Timber saved his Arsenal career. Kiwior should be in the plans for the next 5-10 years. He just lacks the aggression of Gabriel. Give him a chance.
Kiwior not on the level. Calafiori takes his spot.
@@danjackson1016 - there’s a lot of football to play if we’re to compete in all comps. Calafiori will either be first choice LB or LCB, meaning presumably Gabriel sold (good fee) or Tomi not trusted due to injuries. Kiwior can cover either of those positions and do it well against all but the best wingers. I don’t think he’s had a fair chance at LCB. But I respect the view that he’s not shown enough yet to say whether or not he’ll get to first team quality.
Half of the squad are kids. It would be nice if Arsenal didn’t charge Red members to watch pre-season friendlies. The only advantage of membership is 10% off purchases at the Armoury. Getting a match day ticket is almost impossible. No value for subscription. Getting nothing for it.
Spot on fella! 👏👏👏
Not really, I was at 10+ home games last season with a Red membership. Just have to enter every ballot and put the time in on the exchange 🤷♂️
Charles why isn't this released on Spotify? I always listen on there. Unless you always upload it later on Spotify, in which case excuse my impatience!
thanks guy on the side of transfer market we re in thirsty of three signings which ateta promised us this summer the pressure is on high lavel
Morning Charles, with Calafiori and White both being able to invert could that allow Rice to be number 6 but still push forward due to his recovery pace. We could then play 2 number 10's ideally Odegard and get EZE !! Still leaves Havertz,Martinelli & Saka as preferred front 3.
Charles, I'm Italian and a long time Arsenal fan but it's CalaFIORI not CalaFURY...😅 COYG
😂😂. The English are very poor at pronouncing names.
I am over the moon the Arsenal are signing a very good Italian player but if I have to hear Charles calling him Calafury everyday I had to say something 😂@@Chick3nDipp3rz
Not going to lie that doesn’t help. Need to break up the fiori part to help us understand 😅

feeyori?
Is that acceptable?
That is the weirdest pic of Calafiori. What in the world, Charles?!😀
Your mind 😊
Calafiori is the opposite of Gabriel.
Gabriel takes ages to get the ball moving, indecisive or a tactic I'm not sure, but it often means everyone moving up the pitch, players losing their free space, their back line going backwards and cutting off our chances of an early run in behind.
Calafiori really gets the ball moving (I watched a very long compilation video). If he sees a player in Saka's position he gets the ball out there at the earliest opportunity. He runs forward like Rice and pushes through the midfield before the opposition get a chance to fall back and restrict space.
Gabriel definitely better as a traditional defender than a progressive passer but if Califiori will be at left back like everyone thinks that gives Gabby a player on either side to offload the ball to quickly. He's good enough at defending that we should allow him to keep his passing simple.
Charles was the biggest advocate for giving Tomi a new contract. The guy cant even train without getting injured 😅
Hi Charles, do you think Arteta currently sees Jesus as more of a backup to Havertz or as a backup wide player? Surely this would determine what type of profile we might look to bring to the club in the attacking third? Whatever the case is, we simply cannot go into a new season with no backup option for Saka that Arteta trusts....
I ain’t Charles but I think Jesus will be cover for both ST and RW roles…it just makes sense in terms of the positions he can play and he can still get significant play time
Why wasn’t Jesus rotating with saka last season then?
P.S. I'm writing this whilst on holiday in, you guessed it Italy! On my balcony up in the hills overlooking Castellammare on the Sorrento Coast. Possibly the most beautiful place in one of the World's greatest nations. Bonucci is welcome to join me for dinner (on me) so we can discuss things. I remember watching him play for Juventus at Highbury when we dumped them out of the Champions League 😅❤
Tomiyasu is a luxury player. He's one of our best when he plays.
Hmm, deffo wouldn't say he's one of the best. He's a decent right back, nothing special.
Myles Lewis Skelly played LB against Leyton Orient. Heaven played CB
A delicate question re: Charlie Patino. A few years ago, everyone hailed him as the best Academy product since Jack Wilshire. What happened? Was the hype overblown? Injuries? The lack of a clear path? Is he too headstrong? Or was something lacking in his approach to training or his willingness to mesh well with the existing players and coaching staff that seeming has cost him his chance with the club?
Hi Charles, with Setford seemingly now the number 1 for the u21s, does Nygaard go to the u18s?
Charles how do you do? And do you have any information about how I can get your book in India? Additionally is there any news of any new striker who might join Arsenal? And what about the saudi interest in Gabriel Jesus and what should Arteta do if said Transfer interest is real? Thank you Sayantan.
Charles, with a defender (probably) being the first through the door this summer (apart from Setford), and most gossip pointing to midfield reinforcements being next on the agenda, do you think Arteta may be planning to stick with Kai and Jesus up front this season and to maybe go again for Sesko in Summer '25?
It was Cozier Duberry who went on tour not Walters, Amario replaced Reiss
Charles..missing dearly the time stamps
love your content ⚡⚡
Could he be the next Beckenbauer? He plays a bit like a sweeper.
Something I have noticed over the last few seasons is that none of our youngsters that have gone out on loan have really had a good time. I can't really remember any except for maybe Beilek or Okonkwo who maybe grabbed the chance but we didn't really benefit from either of those. Do you think that this might be down to poor choice of destination on Arsenal's part or something else? Obviously I know that not every single loan player we send out is going to smash it but it seems incredibly rare from our players.
Love the channel, keep up the good work Charles!
Balagun
@@khalil7708 fair point, completely forgot about balogun to be honest. Though you see clubs like Chelsea and city loaning out players and getting £20+ off of the back of good loan spells virtually every season

I was sure you said Mike Wozniak at 09.15
With Tomi being injury prone, why would we push to move on Jakub?
1. Money
2. Make space for Calafiori
@@scraps7624so we can move on from Tomiyasu instead of kiwior
Missed the chance to write "Bonucci's Cala-fury"
Here we go
Roma should have gotten their “money” when Basel sold him to Bologna. Never heard of a sell on to a sell on.
Can zinchenco play in midfield?
Hi Charles 👋, I hope all is good 👋 👦 ☺️ 👍 😊 🙏. I saw 👀 the highlights of the Arsenal vs Leyton Orient match. It was good to see 👀 Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe on the score sheet. 2-0 it finished. It would make my day, if you chose me as a winner 🏆 for the Arsenal T-shirt. Have a good day Charles 😂. Arsenal rocks 🏆 🙏 🤲 🪨 🎸 😎.
Hi Charles, if we sold ESR for around £30m and signed Eze for £60m to replace him, do you think this is a worthwhile trade?
I like Eze, but to me he and ESR are a horse-a-piece. I worry that in a year’s time ESR would be targeted by eg Chelsea for big money while Eze would be an expensive sub.
Love Tomi but his injuries are a huge issue, beginning to think that Arteta and Edu might be looking to move him on. He can't seem to stay fit for any prolonged period of time - maybe his body can't take the rigorous premier league, cup and Europe. His a great guy but if he can't stay fit then he's no good for the club.
He's made of deep fried lettuce sadly .
Zinchenko and Tomiyasu are injury prone. Arsenal needs keep Kiwior.
@@LiiveGunner I’d get rid of both of them. Done with the sentiment
@@Lenny35Let shift Tierney, Zinny and Tomi. 3 players who have really been unlucky.
I'd be tempted to sell Jesus and Party as no doubt will break down in 2025.
@@jonathanadamskiah mean this is so simple.
Charles, I know it has been awhile since you last discussed this topic, but Szczesny seems to be currently very much available. Do you think there’s any chance Arsenal will consider snapping him up or does it look like Arsenal have their goal keeper plans pretty set?
I dream of seeing him back at this club, completing his Arsenal story taking us to winning a Cup trophy in the next year or two.
Lets sell the many injury prone players we cannot afford this. Tierney, Zinchenko, Tomi, Partey, Jesus... Other players work OT to cover them and it's never enough and fell just short. Clean it up and make 3, 4 astute buys and we are set. Sounds easy 😂
But of course, close the deals on Eddie, Nelson and ESR asap. Perhaps Kiwior too.🎉
As an Italian, Bonucci's comments summarize why Italy and Serie A are going to shit. They just want to stay and do the same things without opening their horizons and improving by working with one of the up and coming managers in Europe. I really hope he moves over here so more and more players can leave the Serie A and this will ultimately improve the Italian national team too
What nonsense. Italians have often stayed in Italy and they've always been a good national team who have won things. The same is true for Spain, to some extent Germany, and England (minus the trophies).
All countries with an actual football culture want their national players to stay domestic & create a strong league - no one likes seeing all their local players leaving. I'd rather have seen Bellingham at Liverpool and Kane start at spurs, even as a gooner.
@@kunimitsune177 you are simplifying a much more complicated issue my friend. Italy was amazing when they had the best players, managers and owners in the 90s and early 00s but since 2006 the national team has drastically dropped in quality because the Serie A didn’t evolve like La Liga and the Prem. This is due to the lack of infrastructure in the country at roots level so if the best players in Italy move abroad the national team improves, look at the South American teams as the perfect examples. Bellingham would have never become who he is if he stayed in the UK due to playing time, pressure and media scrutiny. The prem is the best league in the world not only because of its players but also because they have the best of everything from physios to data scientists.
Who's shocked that Tomiyasu is injured.. and here people saying we didn't need a defender lol
Hi Charles, do you think one of the young lads will break into the 1st team this season?
Wtf with injuries and modern day players. Pre-season has not even started and already Tomiyasu is injured! What the hell did he do? Trip over his shadow or slip on the beach. It's becoming ridiculous. Really like Tomi but if he can't stay fit it is time to move him on.
Hello Charles why are we not looking at zubamendi? He would be perfect for us...
He doesnt want to leave spain .
I heard he is injury-prone too. It's going to be the Arsenal Adult-Orthopaedic Centre not the FC hahhh
Hi Charles,
Regarding what you were talking about, Arteta made it so that everyone sits with someone new. I'm in the middle with this. I understand its good to converse with somebody new, however, these boys are grown men, and should be allowed to talk to who they want. Your relationship off field doesnt have to be perfect in order for their relationship on field to work. This potentially could cause issues down the line if Arteta starts becoming too harsh on who the boys want to hang out with.
I don't think you understand the concept of a 'team'.
I kinda given up on expecting the 'kids' to be fast tracked, integrated into the first team. Whoever Arteta doesn't like, Edu should just sell immediately before media finds out and their values plummeted
Wouldn't be surprised if Calaflori doesn't get picked for Italy for a while. Seems like a petty thing they'd do
Why ? Seems an unlikely thing for the Italian coach to do. Bonucci isn't the Italian manager. He's just a former player expressing his opinion.
Sorry Tomi, i love you but we need to call time on this. Hes too injury prone. Yes you can be versatile, be great on the ball, have a great personality but another trait you need is availability and hes just got that guy. We cant have players in the team who stuggle to string 10 to 15 consecutive games together
Am happy with the signing of CALAFIORI
One more thing....dry your eyes Bonucci and jog off!
If Calafiori is a quick success then I think the back-line Arteta may well go with is White Saliba Calafiori and Timber. All defensively sound, accomplished on the ball and passing it under a pressure. Whereas Gabriel is a monster defender he is far less comfortable with the ball at his feet than the others. I also still think if a massive bid came for him he could be allowed to leave and Kiwior remain. Raya came in for an incremental improvement after all.
It absolutely unreasonable to suggest Gabriel leave and Kiwior stay lol. Do you people really want us to move forward as a club? Kiwior is shy on the pitch, Dosent have the personality to play for Arsenal…. And why break up the saliba -Gabriel partnership? For what exactly?
@@humphreysam803 I have explained my thought process. It is all there. Understand qualification in speech and what the actual words say and mean and you would have less issue with them.
*Duberry not dooberry
Get Tomiyasu well soon
so he can be sold even faster
Maximum Wattage! Great content as always, as soon as I was done with the video I saw that the WSL fixtures had been released. Do you think that this season is make or break for Jonas Eidevall considering the crazy amount of support he's received since joining the club and how far do you think he can take this squad? Based off last season's performances I truly believe that anything less than either a league title and a deep champions league run or a cup double would be nothing less than a failure.
Do you have a shortcut key on your keyboard that just types "Tomiyasu injury blow" when you press it? May be worth programming one if not 🤦♂️
Young talented players' careers decline drastically whenever they go to Juventus. I'm sorry that happened a lot over the last few years. His potential and attributes will be exploded under mikel arteta!!
Tomi needs to be sold, this is why he only got a 3 Yr contract. He can't stay fit even when he doesn't play
It’s never going to change this is been going on for years guys made of glass
Charles, are you coming to Philadelphia game? I will be there, front row, let me know if you are coming and I will look for you
We need a true right winger to compete and rest in between. Saka can't play so much. We all saw how tired he was last season..
If we stick with 'enabling' central forwards, then we need a top goal-scoring midfielder at left 8.
charles this is unlisted! edited it’s fine, i was early !
I don't think Arsenal have a good record with Italians, Lupoli & Mannone. Jorginho? Really a Brazilian playing for Italy. Hopefully Calafiori breaks the mold
Hi Charles, any more on a striker…. It’s all gone quiet.
I can't get excited about these early pre-season friendlies. You've got half the first team missing and, taking into account the travel days, probably nine days of preparation for the remainder. And playing PL teams is not meaningful at this early stage. I'd rather we play a team from the USA or a European team rather than a team we're going to play competitively during the season.
Pre-season friendlies a part of the process of preparing the team for the coming season, so they are games that are not primarily arranged to excite the fans.
A half fit, lower half PL team is much better preparation than a yank team though.
@@kunimitsune177 Maybe you should be sharing your valuable insights with the Forest coaching and training staff instead of us folks on TH-cam?
I think we may get into a situation where Arsenal losing some of their player's may weaken them. Let's hope not and we continue to be more competitive in the market.
They will get replaced with better players..that's the whole point this season..upgrading the bench
Another Tomi injury hahaha give his guy a Japan shirt because he's always fit for them. Time to get rid I think
it's worrying because anything judicial in Italy is notoriously slow, if not corrupt, and they have little love for the English...
?? They don't have any less love for England than they do for any other country. Weird thing to say.
@@kunimitsune177 apologies, didn't mean to be offensive. Are you Italian?
As usual Arsenal are charging £9.99 to season ticket holders if they want to watch the tour games "earlybird price'. Yeah cheers Arsenal, just shelled out a bag for season ticket as I have done for 30 years (back then was £299 for 26 games and DB10 was playing for us!). Iknow it all money to help the club by players 'blah, blah, blah' but some others like you Charles might remember Arsenal Television from Setanta years ago when it free to watch games. It was a while back, I remember them interviewing a young Lord Bendtner before he started to believe his own hype. The game has changed I know but the club could do long-term fans a solid and let us tune in for free. Although we're rather patronisingly known as 'Legacy fans' now aren't we 😂.
There is a lot of names they are interested in are starting to disappear to other clubs showing interest
Calafiori is brave, leaving Italy and will get better. He's a rear breed of defender and will improve under Arteta and benefit Italy as he progresses..
Emile Smithi-Rowezorla in progress.
Italian league is shocking apart from inter milan and look how bad the national team are duno what bonuccis crying for
So Charlie Patino I assume they will be selling him
Tomiyasu should be sold. He’s injury prone

those fans who constantly bragging nonsense about Mikel and youth can shut up at last. So many teens have their chance to impress. I'm so excited
Jesus attracting interest from Saudi. Not sure what you think Charles, but given his injury record and lack of natural goalscoring ability I think we should move on
Charles was snapping at people when Tomiyasu was given a contract extension. Charles said people were overreacting. The guy can't stay fit, you haven't got a fucking clue.
Don't know how many times I ve said it already but tomi is a liability and I think we missed the chance to sell him and recoup the investment, he will just spend the next 4years on the treatment table and will play 10games a season just like partey
