  • People have mixed views about this video but I am putting out there anyway as it may help you have a safer and more supple riding horse.
This is a how-to stop your horse from bucking video if you happen to come across a horse that has picked up the buck the rider off technique this video will help you to help them when they need it most. And yes I know the horse needs more prep and to be calmer before riding but the I wouldn't be able to show you how to help them when it all goes bad.
If you have a good boy horse this is still a good technique for you and will encourage them be more lateraly soft and use their hind.

She's very skittish, so nice you have the patience to work with her.

Good job. You are braver and way more able to read horses then I am!

The experienced rider sees a problem developing and takes steps to stop the problem before it happens. An intermediate rider is able to deal with a problem after it has occurred. A beginning rider says, “What happened”?

Thanks Moira, she is much better now but it was a good chance to show an actual problem and one way to work through it.

This guy / trainer stays cool and calm ...
That will keep the horse cool and calm....

Hi Dirk, thanks for your level headed feedback. Agree re the connection, it turns out she was most likely in pain even though she had been thoroughly checked by vets, chiropractors and muscle therapists ( I felt something wasn't right). A few years down the track she grew a football size abscess on her lower back which took months to drain. She is good now and happily lives in a large paddock here in Australia with my herd of horses ( she never went back to her owner). We don't ride her and think she has been through enough, she does help people with ground work sometimes and does really well and connects nicely now. Thanks again. Shane

He did a bit much too soon. I don't see anything really wrong with the horse(besides the initial freak out of putting the saddle on). She stayed out of his face/space and we can use other techniques to get her used to the weight and movement.

All in all, she did really well once the initial cinch hellabalu blew over (came straight for you)! Very balanced reaction from left to right when ridden (nice that she didn't freeze up). In the U.S., people bid on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) mustangs and their reactions are very similar under saddle to this horse. As you said again and again, very important to know that the horse will yield it's head. Great video.

She was a good example of how to handle that type of reaction, I did get to ride her in later years but she was always touchy and seemed in pain to me. Her sisters were the same, it turns out they were bred during a bad drought and didn't develop well physically. She wasn't safe enough for her owner or sale so she stayed, she still lives here with me today, she is a good calm leader of the herd now days.

This is bizarre. I'm starting a youngster at the moment and taking it so slowly, each step she has time to think and know she's done the right thing. No leaping around, no hanging on by one stirrup, just nice and steady. As other comments have said you may be brave (no helmet?) to hang onto something anxious but what about the next rider.

    • @QuantumSavvyHorsemanship
      @QuantumSavvyHorsemanship  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No, not a safe horse but it was a good chance to share some techniques to help people stay in the saddle if all goes wrong. She wasn't safe enough for her owner to have back or for sale so she stayed with me. She still lives here with me today and she is a good calm leader of the herd now days. She is 17 now. Shane

I don't see this as fixing anything, and I think this will have to occur each and every ride.

@@QuantumSavvyHorsemanship The fact that there was no groundwork done, you got on the horse shortly after the bucking issue, and then probably took the saddle off after, as soon as that saddle goes back this horse is gonna do the same thing. Not to mention how dangerously you handled this. You nearly got yourself trampled by a 1000 pound out of control animal because you weren't paying attention and taking the correct measures. This horse has zero proper training and is simply tolerating you in the moment. The horse was moving all over the place when you got on, you had no control over the steering, and you had no control to stop or speed up the horse. Poor preparation, poor handling, and poor safety. Definitely will not be following this.

I think after 20 or so rides she’ll get tired of all that extra work for her but I think she will bluff each new rider.

He rushes the horse to much before easing up on the pressure, asking too much too soon.

    • @sunshine4evr517

Some horses need to know not all people will wait for a reaction to push them away. They will calmly take control and expect a reasonable response. Unreasonable requires correction. I saw all of that.
