There are lots of people who can train a horse, but there are not many with the gift of being able to teach horses and people. You have it. Thanks for all the information you provide.
Exactly! He knows how to “speak the horse language” and there’s way too many horse owners and trainers out there who don’t know how to “speak horse”. I knew a lot about this (not a trainer, just we have had horses in our back yard for many years, so I’ve learned a lot over the years) but I continue to learn from Ryan and pass his videos to my daughter and other horse people. His videos are awesome
Interesting. Wish I knew how my dad trained a mare we had years ago. She could stop on a dime. Once - lol - he underestimated how much she was listening to him and, at a full gallop, leaned back and asked her to stop. She came to a screeching halt and he flew right over her head! Fun Dad fact - fortunately not hurt, just worth some laughs. Be careful what you wish for -
This is really helpful for me as a beginner, at the age, 56 yrs, I am finally a retired woman, getting my 1st horse, it’s been my dream since I was 4 yrs old! I bought a round pen to practice your techniques and learn my proper seat. I will be watching for your basic lessons to learn properly and now I can actually put your methods to use on a horse instead of in my chair! LoL
Thank you for the great info. I know the problem is not my horse - it's training me to have much more body awareness. Become CLEAR and consistent, and start to read my horses much better. Your videos are so useful on so many levels - and so is the act of actually present. I am going to join you patrion page for sure. My horses asked me to say hello - and THANKS!
Hi Ryan, I think "If you are calm your horse will be calm" is sometimes a polite way of saying to someone what is really meant: "If you are freaking out like a lunatic and snapping the lead rope against your horse's face your horse can't be calm" lol.
i have a horse here that really doesn't know how to stop with a rider, 18years old.... has never learned it.... so far she can 'half stop' from the seat and vocal cue but then walks right on... some way to go with her... doesn't like to go in circles either so that's difficult too.... yeah well, patience will help as always ;) thanks for your great video ;)
Thank you ,you have just connected the dots for me, I think my paint x English native will appreciate this as I have had him from foal,he is started to English style riding and I am now teaching him Western and at thirteen he is doing really well just me that needs fine tuning. Thank you Leah and Rio from the very wet and muddy Uk.
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Robert Sincere I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Hello Ryan from the other side of Lake Michigan. I am a new viewer to you're utube. I am really connecting with your teaching! Many thanks for sharing you're skills. Sage is a sweetheart.
Thank you, Ryan, for these wonderful tips!! My OTTB mare does not have a good "whoa" on her 😆 She's the sweetest horse though so that makes up for it! Now I'll have some new exercises to try with her. I love your videos..
Super clear! Love your videos. I’m training 2 green horses with opposite personalities, so this will help clear up a few things we’ve been missing. I know they’ve been trying to tell me something and you’ve just filled in the blanks. Also, they speed up when transitioning from a trot to a lope/canter, do you have a video for this? Or is it something that corrects itself as time goes on? No one really address it with young horses.
This video might be helpful and there’s a second with this horse. th-cam.com/video/K5Gi4oZ_S70/w-d-xo.html Otherwise you can join my patreon page www.patreon.com/ryanrosehorsemanship where I offer video coaching thanks
Hi Ryan. Watching this video 3 years after you uploaded it. What do you mean when you say to bring the life up, or down. What do i need to do to bring the life down?
I purchased a well trained Performance horse.Cutter and reiner . I struggle with the stop on my part. I feel I confuse her.Too much hands but when I stop riding so to speak she keeps going, I bought her to ride trails and drill team. Can you go all the way back to the basics like this with a well trained type of horse? So I can do right by her and learn to ride with my seat & legs.
Can you please explain the leg positions that you mentioned in this video? For example, how many are there and where are they on the horse's side? Edit: sorry I think it was another video, but you mentioned position 3 for disengaging the hind
@@ryanrosehorsemanship thanks for replying, good saying! My lad just doesn't seem happy in any bit however 'mild' and his teeth are checked but he has a very low pallet and small mouth, I wondered if that's why, my hands are SO light and gentle too! But he's a doll in a headcoller and reins/bitless bridle 99.9 percent of the time
What does it mean to bring your life up and down when you were riding a horse? Am I misunderstanding what you were saying or do I just not understand what you are saying?

That’s Fair 😂
Wow. I've watched a hundred videos on stopping, and this one beats them all! Thank you for the crystal clear advice.
Ryan really knows how to speak the horse language and he does an amazing job explaining it to us. 💕💕
Helpful video, but I really just wanted to say how much I love the activity surrounding 😊. Collies, cats, English style riders, so much to watch😂
underrated channel for sure. Keep up the good work
Thanks
Excellent! Thanks so much from Australia 🇦🇺
You do a wonderful job of explaining the basics of all maneuvers you cover. Thank you for the clear, concise and straightforward language!
Thank you
I like Ryans demeanor and way of training
I appreciate it 👍
Thank you for that explanation and how we can accomplish stopping without reins.

Hi Ryan. Watching this video 3 years after you uploaded it. What do you mean when you say to bring the life up, or down. What do i need to do to bring the life down?
Love watching your videos there so helpful
Having trouble slowing down and coming to a stop when at full gallop. Without getting all in my horse mouth. Any tips?

I love your principles, do you sell DVDs?
How do you "Bring your life up/down" in a seated trot? How do you differentiate this in a seated trot?
Horse keeps pulling away, any vids on that?
Hiya Ryan, do you believe bitless for life is safe with training?
Yeah definitely. The best bit is a bit of knowledge. 👍👌

My problem has been slowing a spooky horse when no seat or rein is really slowing
What does it mean to bring your life up and down when you were riding a horse? Am I misunderstanding what you were saying or do I just not understand what you are saying?
Breath out like when a horse sighs and relax and sit down all the way.
What kinda bit is that?
I love horses I have one
The mare I'm sitting on was trained to ride from the seat, not reins
Pavlov’s horse lol
Great tips. But please ride a horse that doesn't want to stop next time!
