love his vids! I love Asian culture, hes having a full conversation with a camera and everyone is so unbothered. they observe but mind their business and all seem so nice when food travelers visit Asian countries. I was definitely born in the wrong country I believe. I love the culture and the food. I can eat Asian cuisine everyday and never tire of it
Not so much into the wrong country, but if you believe in reincarnation than your previous life may be that of an East Asian country. Try past life regression, you may find out some really cool things.
Watching you get so excited about food is hilarious Mike. Puts a big smile on my face every time. Plus watching the crowd in the background of your videos is entertainment in itself. People look so offended sometimes and you just don't give a damn lol. Thanks as always Mike!
NOTE the New York or California locations have never received a Michelin star. The food quality wasn’t high enough. (The original Hong Kong restaurant lost its star in 2021.) .
+Julie Westfield -- Well, he's not talking to anyone (he's talking to a camera), and he's talking very enthusiastically (even growling) in a language that they don't understand.
I've never understood shared tables because in my experience people aren't very friendly there. It'd make sense if it was a culture like the Philippines where everyone's so damn nice but in Hong Kong it's like they're begrudgingly sitting next to you because that's just how they designed the restaurant. Really strange.
Damn! You're the ONLY youtuber who eats and appreciates food the way I do! I love your videos and I'll definitely taste everything you recommended - I just know I'll like it. It would be sooooo awesome to run into you some day, have food with you and discuss the components and taste of our meal! Keep up the good work!
NOTE the New York or California locations have never received a Michelin star. The food quality wasn’t high enough. (The original Hong Kong restaurant lost its star in 2021.) .

Thank so much for watching and for the kind words Candy! There are good food places popping up all the time everywhere so keep an eye out for them in your area :)
Dude, the 2nd set of people to sit down your elbow was in his face/chest area every time you took a bite. I'd have told you to eat with your left hand since you wave your arm so much. Love your videos 🎈
I've tried those Carsul pork buns from here, And I completely agree! They are heavenly and you will not find a better bun! Possibly the best thing on the menu.

My wife and I were totally hoping to be blown away, but came away a little disappointed. Nothing was bad, but we just thought HK dim sum would be the ultimate experience. Our vote still goes to Koi Palace. Now that you're in the Bay Area, hope you got a chance to try it.
I loved this place when we went to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 we stood in line for a hour on a weekday and it was worth it! We ordered half the menu for two people and finished it. Then ordered more pork buns!
New Subscriber. Awesome videos!!! I've worked in HK, Bangkok, Singapore- love the cities and culture!!! I've worked as a chef and your love and presentation of various foods makes you the kind of client good chefs love to cook for. As I'm new, a couple of questions: Do you have a bio posted (sort of "get to know your presenter")? When you are pronouncing the food items in Chinese, are you speaking standard Mandarin or the language of your home region (I'm a linguist by training)? Your videos are wonderful, keep up the good work and thank you for all the time and effort!!!
You were loving it! I enjoy your enthusiasm and that you are honest, a bit sad that the tofu skin wasn't the best-those are my favs. Keep posting these scrumptious food vids, I am living vicariously and truly enjoy them. Btw, do people find filming vlogs a bit strange in Hong Kong?
LOL !!!! I thought the same !!! And he makes me want to visit those places ! Here in Uruguay Chinese restaurants have a limited menu and they just stay with cantonese food .. and most of the dishes are the "americanized" versions....not the real chinese ones!! :(
I was just in Hong Kong two weeks ago. I wish I'd gone to this place but did go to another place and their dim sum was the best I have every ate. I lived in NY for many years and there are no place that compared to the dim sum I had in HK!! I will hit up Tim Ho Wan next time I'm back to HK.

Ive really been getting into your videos mate! In Scotland the cuisine isn't that popular and I really want to get stuck in to some of this glorious food! Thanks for your time!
Recently discovered your channels. Love them all. I appreciate your honesty. Great series from my home state, Hawaii. But I recommend you don't eat too much in Waikiki. $17 for a plate lunch, yikes. My only complaint is whenever I watch, I get hungry! You must be the hardest working TH-camr. Keep up the good work. Aloha
Dude seriously, I thought you were with that group at the beginning and you were ordering for the group....how the hell did you finish everything!?!?? LOL. Well done.
Oh man, this brings back good memories. I am Dutch and work in the off-shore industry. My job takes me all over the world. But Hong Kong...Best food in the world! Wow I hope my employee have a job for there soon.. I cant wait to go back!!
Mike. PLEASE next time you eat anything with a filling, take a small bite out of one of the pieces and and show us the filling. Like you did the char siu bun. I was very curious about the shaomai filling. Amazing video btw.
Huh ...didn't realise it was Michelin starred. My Girlfriend took me there back in November it was my first ...and so far only experience of dim sum. Was excellent of course. ...hmm.
A little background to explain some of the fine pts made by Mike: Pork tastes better in HK due to the breed and freshness. Techniques used to prepared the pig is old school, nothing left to waste. Why even good Chinese food in U.S. seems heavy compared to one in HK and parts of southern China , has much to do w/ the flour ingredients and authenticity of the seasoning/spices used. Stir Fry dishes: the wok stove used in Asia is like a jet engine sound vs the ones used in U.S. The BTU is almost twice over there vs in the U.S. This allows food to cook faster and crispier, retaining flavor, freshness and moisture. HK people prefers to eat their fried eggs like the first dish. Heat up the wok since smoke comes out, add a little oil, drop the egg, flip it around and ready to serve w/ a little soy sauce or home made sauce on top, giving a nice golden crisp all around the outside while yolk is liquid.
I totally agree on the pineapple char siu buns, definitely the best item on the menu. Won't get them any where else in Hong Kong. Worth the waiting & travelling.
Love watching your channel Mike. I'm afraid when you're 45 they will have to roll you into the restaurants in a wheel barrel! I've never seen anyone who can eat more in one settings. I'll still be watching though, you are a great presenter! Keep up the good work and the gym membership!!
Just watched this. Next time in hkg, try the goose, pork in the clean market in Tung Chung, near the airport. You'll be surprised with the taste and price. And oh, there's some awesome noodles beside it too.
yessss the char siu buns! ❤ I need to try the tim ho wan in hk! they say that's their best branch since it's the only one that has a michelin star out of all their branches.

Hi Mike, I have to say that you are a dangerous man. You remember me when you eat. I can see how gourmand you are. I'm not hungry, I just ate, be still, you gave me the temptation to eat again. The way you react when you taste something you love is the same as mine. The surprised look, then you close your eyes, just to be sure it's really as good as you think it is and then the exclamation of joy. It's pure happiness.

Yes,it's an unwritten traditiont to rinse out your bowls\cups\chopsticks with hot tea in the trans-canton area(I mean Guangdong,Hongkong and Macau) and now this trend has spread up north.
I love Tim Ho Wan as well,I would also recommend Yung Kee,they have the best Roasted goose in town.

This is making me so hungry, will deffo have to try this place :D thanks Mike
