- In this 2000pts 6th Ed batrep, Black Orc Warboss Gorfang Iron Tusk is seeking a fight worthy of his prodigious strength. Hearing that the Vampires of Sylvania are peerless warriors, unmatched in ferocity and power, he marches his horde into the dead lands for an epic confrontation.

If I am allowed, some tips for the Vampire Count player:
- general on a large target is quite risky, so if you do that, let her carry the wristbands of black gold (3+ ward against missile attacks). This is mandatory, IMO.
- gouls haven't static bonus, so they are not prepared to take front charges of R&F units. Use them in smaller units, take advantage of their movement through forest, and hit the flank of these units, or hunt down war machines. Remember that if you are charged, you can flee!
- fell bats are warmachines hunters. Don't charge with them tough targets
- ethereal units are perfect to pop out the fanatics. Also, you can invoke a new unit near the night goblins, and in this situation, fanatics pop out in a random direction!! (you can cause a disaster in the enemy army with this)
- necromancer must avoid combat if they can. Put it a small unit os skeletons or zombis, and abandon them when the enemy approaches
- one of the better things of a big flying monster is terror. You can sneak behind the enemy lines and trigger some terror checks, pushing the enemy to your troops
- dire wolves are better in small units, but if you take 10 of them, cover their flank or be careful to not be charged in so bad situation
- with a general in a large target, destroy the enemy warmachines as soon as possible should be your first target

Orcs can be very effective, I played them through most of 6th. You just need plenty of support and cheap sacrificial units to do something else then just shuffling forward hoping your opponent only rolls 1s.
I played them so much that I can almost recall my standard list from memory :D
A Warboss with great weapon and 1+ save in 24 BigUns with spears and the extra attack banner.
A Savage Big Boss with gw in a unit of 19 Savage Orcs with tattoos and spears
25 Boyz with choppas and shields
2 gobbo/Orc scroll caddies
10 Black Orcs with two choppas to limit Animosity
3x5 Wolf Riders with spears and shields
2 Wolf Chariots
4 Spear Chukkas
10 Troglagobz
4 Snotling bases
Giant
Without a fair amount of points spent on cheap, fast and maneuverble support/sacrificial units you have hardly any options once the opponent starts exploiting how slow infantry blocks are. And you don't need many such "hammer" units to deliver the killing blow if you can support them with flank/rear charges from your support units.

Good stuff. I liked how you rolled double 6s on a fanatic, explained how he merked himself because of the double, then in the next breath rolled double 2 on the next fanatic and proceeded as though that never happened :)

Got to love the trolls, sometimes it pays to be sluggish and stupid. Enjoyed the return of the spooky girls, fun game and fun atmosphere .. always a pleasure to watch, thank you.

A few things tp note:
Killing blow triggers on a roll of 6 to-wound, not to-hit.
6 trolls vs 9 dire wolves is US 18 to 18. The trolls did not outnumber the doggos and as such should have only won by 1 point. However in the 2nd round you still had a flank bonus vs the dire wolves and the bats swarm would not have gotten a flank vs you (as they are only US 2), so you should have won by 2.
Undead are Immune to Psychology, and thus do not have to test to restrain pursuit.
Banshees are only US 1, and thus cannot get a flank charge bonus. Your gobbos would have beaten her by 1 and inflicted a crumble wound on her (it is gernally unwise to solo charge a banshee into ANY THING other than a lone wizard. )

Undead DO have to test to restrain. Being ITP doesn't negate the need to restrain.
Bat swarms are flyers and as such are US1. They are also Alive! so don't crumble, but being a swarm they are Unbreakable so as they were never targeted in combat they would still have been holding up the trolls at the end of the game.

Love it! No purist should complain about you using Trolls. Maybe someone who is more on the sort of Tournament optimisation end of the spectrum might complain I guess, although given we're playing a game that's been (officially) dead for nearly 20 years, you'd think that the time for that has passed....
I love the energy in all your videos stos! Ive watched more or less all of them more than ones i like to have them in the background when im painting my dwarfs or my vampire armys! I would love to play with you someday the only downside is im from Denmark so its a long trip! Maybe someday! Keep up the amazing work you do my man!

Love the positivity and fun you guys had. It's been ages since I played 6th edition, (to be honest I'm not even sure I ever did, maybe dropped out after 5th, and got back during 8th) fun to see how different the game is from current day AoS. Back then combat rarely inflicted many casualties, but whole units were wiped from a bad Ld roll. Definitely a different mindset. Very fun to watch, thanks!
Love these videos! On top of some of the other small mistakes mentioned in the comments here's a really persnickety one that I didn't read. Your opponent cast Vanheu's Danse Macabre on his Bat Swarms to charge the Stone Trolls. The spell didn't go through so this point is moot BUT the spells description reads "This spell can be cast on a friendly undead unit" and Bat Swarms are Alive! Hence they are not undead.

Very cool. I have played since 5E and have never seen a Lahmian army in person.
A few things about rules:
1- Killing blow works with 6s when they are wounding, not for impacting like poison.
2- Black Periapt works with unused dices of ANY player and also in any magic phase (energy and dispell dices so).
3- Small bats aren't undead, so they don't lose wounds for losing combat. Wolves and fel bats do so.
4- Winged Nightmare causes TERROR (Orcs would have been captured without even combat. Or maybe they were already in distance the turn before.)
5- Orcs donn't care about goblins so they don't have to check panic if any unit of goblin dies next to them.
What was this? A loss? For Stoss?! XD man those grave guards did a great job! Involved in killing 3 big units… damn what a battle!!

Great to see another warhammer 6th ed battle report from you. Just a small note if you are charged by a fear causing enemy who outnumbered you and you fail your fear test. The unit has to flee.

1:46:13 - Bat Swarms are not undead (they have the special rule Alive! just like ghouls), and as such do not crumble. They are simply unbreakable.

Thanks for another good game! After watching all of your batreps, you've inspired me to finally get a friend to play a little game with me this week. It was only 860 points (I have a bunch of Lizards, but not enough models in other armies for more ), and it wasn't the most even of games, but I had a lot of fun!

Regarding charging the ghouls, they have to make a charge response before you roll a fear test. Don't forget they're alive , so they can choose to flee. If they do, you don't need a fear check.
Regarding the Trolls charging the flank of the dire wolves and the swarm getting in the way. You could legitimately charged both of them. All you have to do is make contact in such a way, either to contact both at the same time or to hit the wolves first and then the bats would be drawn into combat.
Note that I haven't watched further so you may have done this.
On a separate note, can I suggest you look at my Resurrection Scenario pack for some variety . Take and Hold is my favourite, really makes for a different type of game.

Man, the quality of the battle reports is top notch, you explain what is going on and record in a way that I don't see hardly anywhere else! I think the only things to maybe wish for, (because let's face it, nobody can do all the rules at once catch everything, the game is complex as there is, maybe if you would livestream or get a third person there to help...) Is a bit more variety. Have we seen high elves? Empire? I am not dreaming of Kislev or amazons or warriors of chaos, but there are some armies missing, bretonians, khimri, and the ones that are there could do with some list changing (You and your opponents). I know the real life and $ challenge that it is, it's just the only thing I can think of when I see you have a new one that one could wish for! Keep it up🎉🎉

A banshee is treated as a character on foot for movement and when targeted by missiles. So she can't be targeted if near a unit of US5+ and not the closest target. As a Lahmian player myself I love my 2 Banshees !

love seeing the different types of vampires. Ive always been torn on big monsters in 6th, for one they are super cool, but they go down super easy from missile fire so they just hide all game which isnt very cool! But im also glad they are not super overpowered like in 5th cause that would just be against the spirit of 6th edition which is much more low fantasy and gritty

Great watch as always 👍 but it wouldn't be warhammer without getting pedantic so... with the night goblins flee move, you shouldn't change the angle in which you flee, while the flee move has to go around the orc boys the general direction should still be directly away from the graveguard (to probably end up somewhere around the Vampire Lord, if they hadn't been caught of course!) which would mean both the spirit host and grave guard could have gone into the flank of the boys with their pursuit moves. In the way you played it units will very rarely pursue into a fresh enemy as you are angling the fleeing unit away from any other potential enemies. Also (and I really am going to the depths of the book here!) the bat swarms and trolls situation would fill the conditions of what is called an accidental charge and would count as charging the flank of the trolls at the same moment as the trolls charged the wolves, suggest you check out Appendix 5 pp.262

So both of the aforementioned scenarios are covered in the supplement Annual 2002.
Fleeing units have a flow chart they must follow and number 4 is "Do not move through a friendly unit". So I'm pretty sure this was played correctly.
And in the Errata section at the back of the book it states "NOTE: The appendix for accidental charges on p.262 of the Warhammer rulebook has led to some dubious tactics and confusion, and should therefore be ignored."

one battle I had in the past I had an exalted daemon (a double hero choice for the hordes of chaos) and it flew to beside a unit of Bretonnian Bowmen. They failed their Terror tests and had to flee however because of some impassable terrain they had to flee through the next unit of Bretonnian Bowmen and 3 units of Men-At-Arms units who all failed their panic tests and proceeded to flee in the same direction XD I pretty much won the battle on the first turn due to flying a block of terror XD

Flying units are unit strength 1 per base/model. So the Bat Swarms wouldn't get the flank bonus. (Need unit strength 5)

Cheers mate! I start with a watered-down craft store burnt sienna, wash with home-made black/brown wash, dry brush with same burnt sienna and finish with a dry brush of ivory.

Thanks mate! It is indeed super simple. Started from a dark brown base coat. Then dry brushed Lead belcher. Then focused recess wash with heavily watered-down Scrag Brown for some rust effects around rivets and what not. Done. Could probably use some bright silver edge/spot highlights, but speed was the word.

Think the vampire player used too many dice in the first turn. 3 dice on curse of years, 3 dice on Vanhels, 1 dice on invocation and 1 saved for a total of 8. 2 level 2's only generate a total of 6 (including the 2 base) unless I'm missing something.

The vc general crumble rule is problematic. Warmaster has the same problem, where the general is the coolest character and you want to use them but if you risk them and lose the game could just be over! As the opponent it feels weird to throw everything into killing the general but at the same time you can't just let the vc player do whatever they want with no consequences. I don't think winged nightmare should be used on the general. Much better and safer for the game to put a hero vampire up there. I'm not sure heroes can take them, but I hope so

You are indeed correct sir. The orc boys would have still been within 6" before the pursuit and should have tested for panic. Bugger!

10 Dire Wolves instead of two units of 5? Why ???
They're relatively cheap and, even though you won't get a rank bonus due to them being light cav, you stand a greater chance on getting a full rank's worth of S4 attacks on the charge.
I often find that my units of 5 are combat ineffective if anything with a missile weapon so much as looks at them so a started running a unit of 10 to actually DO something and and 2 units of 5 to act as a missle screen (no Doom Wolf in the 5-dog units).
Undead are not my favorite looking Armys (too many Fear/Terror Tests without real Fights), Finally the Trolls surprised me with good fighting results, good stuff, Magic..... no comment, Machines are Greenskins Machines , the Dice Gods don´t want to see another win of the Greenskins, but it comes safly.
Add: The Selection of the opponent Players are always very pleasently, they are all fair and very likeable Guys

@@rogueelementgaming Got myself four River Trolls.. Just need to finish off another boyz mob (301) and then I can reward myself by painting those bad boyz.... I highly recommend the plastic kit. I do lvoe the old metal ones but these are actually great too. Loks amazing and fun to build!
