Vampire Counts, turn 5, magic phase: You cannot dispel a spell in play and then cast a spell of your own. See the 6th edition rule book, page 139. This is important because of the risk of miscasts: The magic phase might end rather abruptly because of a double one when you try to cast one of your own spells. If it is very important that you dispel a spell in play (like it was in your case), you might want to abstain from casting spells of your own, just in case you miscast. But generally a really good battle report, like always. Keep up the good work!
Great game, fantastic emotional moments. Some thing to be aware of, if the chaos Knights are frenzied, they must pursue the Ghouls. They don't get to try to restrain. Also they would of had to declare a charge in the following turn as well (due to being frenzied)
As always, what a fantastic start to the weekend! I think Dwayne would have been better served refraining from issuing challenges with Gronk, instead just swinging into the Necromancer who appeared to be in base-contact (the Zombies not having a champion meant he could not be counter-challenged, in this regard - which might be something to think about for your future battles!). Also, I'm sure it was played correctly, but just because it wasn't mentioned, Undead units can only march when within 12" of their General.
That was one of the best matches on your channel! The eb and flow of the game, and those amazingly looking old school inspirered Slaanesh models - Perfection!😊
Gotta remember that auto-break when outnumbered by a fear causing enemy my dudes. Also, Grunk should have taken a fear test even when using Steed of Shadows to charge I think, and obviously should not have issued a challenge, but I a respect the fact that he did as it's thematic. Additionally, refused challenges return to the front rank at the end of the combat phase which was well remembered (not that it should have mattered as Grunk should have fled regardless). Pretty sure that going by the Annual, that neither of the chases should have resulted in new combats. The fleeing player does have some leeway in terms of where they flee within the rules. So could have fled at a more oblique angle.
That was a good game, twists, shockers, laughs, and groaners, everything I want from a game. Lovely looking table, enviable armies, so much eye candy ... even the weird stuff that makes me wonder if I need to roll for sanity loss. Thanks for another evening of quality entertainment.

Finally finished watching the bat rep and what a great see-sawing battle it was! I thought Duane might have had it in the bag towards the end, but he managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory with the untimely and unfortunate death of his General. I could imagine Dragislav just pissing himself laughing as he watched his enemy plunge his own sword into his chest and drop dead. GG boys!

Hi, Just noticed some mistakes: - marauders don’t have to take panic test, because the one fleeing is a single model with less than 5 wounds - the giant too doesn’t need to take panic test, because of his special rules (size of cavalry or less) - you can pursue a unit only if you won the combat phase, so after marauders fled after panic, you can’t chase them since there was no combat phase yet

Great game, I spotted a couple of errors but most have been addressed already. The only one that hasn't is the Knights could not restrain from pursuing the Ghouls as they were frenzied and had to.

So the Chaos warriors had a supporting rank which should have given them an extra +1 in your combat resolution that round. Probably wouldn't have stopped them fleeing off the table, but something to remember next time.
But as stated in other comments already, I was really dissapointed when Gronk didnt assasinate the necromancer. That would have been such a sweet, and potencially game winning, move. Instead he lets him off the hook and gets beaten by the zombies. ☹ Something to remember for next time I guess. 😊

XD Kidding aside, another lovely battle report with the army of my favorite Chaos god - not Duane, Slaanesh ;) - with its old credo "been there, done that". Love the new models (and the pink and purple post-its in the rule book)! And man, this game was so flavorful when Duane was rolling so many 6s all along the way to please his infamous god! I'm still looking for the proclaimed empire army from Duane to strike back. Maybe there will be one with some chaos influence in the future ^^ Nonetheless, I have a ton of questions and remarks and maybe Stos and Duane you can give some insight into your decisions: 1. The turn when the Chaos hounds got charged by the wolves you forgot that the hounds were only allowed to roll 6s, as they did not pass their previous fear check 2. I think the undead steeds have WS2, so they should've hit the Chaos Knights on 5s 3. Do characters move back to front rank in the next turn, when they previously refused a challenge? Thought they would stay in the back rank until the fight is over? 4. @Duane: Good to see you use your Chaos Marauders in a block to generate rank and file boni. But why didn't you attach the Exalted champion to add combat power right from the start? Chaos Warriors 6-wide to increase their damage output, but equipping them with handweapon and shield is in my humble opinion achieving nothing. So either play them 6-wide with halberds or two handweapons or 4-wide with handweapon+shield 5. @Stos: Why the Zombie block 6-wide? I know you play most regiments 5-wide like I do, but Zombies are just there to be a tarpit 6. @Stos: I can understand your flavor reason to put Dragislav in the Wights, but then you have a costly unit (aka Death star) that can easily be dodged by a smart opponent! Loved to see a 9-man Ghoul unit, Well done! 7. @Stos: As the vampire player you could use the tactic of summoning new units and dancing them into flanks/rears more often (was a bit late for my taste, when you did that in turn 5 (?)) 8. Skirmishers and single characters should be able to march, right? I had the impression, that you didn't move them at full speed when you could 9. @Duane: I love your chariot model. Especially with the tiles on the platform. But why did you mount your Sorceror Lord on it? Why no normal Warhorse? If I remember correctly, you don't get the +2 armor save in close combat, as the character steps down from it. And if you remember some previous games, then your Chariot riding general will be a prime target for artillery ;) You could accompany him with 4 normal Chaos Knights at 132 points (adding a Mark of Slaanesh and Command models as you like) Kind regards FA

Duane I am digging your army composition here. Reasonably competitive, and really really creative. Lore of Slaanesh is one of the more interesting in the game and I thought you used it well - the combination of frenzy and unbreakable was well-used, especially on the 1+ AS knights where you're (mostly) safe from the d6 S3 hits. You're reasonably lucky to have survived the daemon sword as long as you did, but bold and fun choice to put it on the wizard lord. I suppose the downside is it probably would have warranted being slightly more careful with who he charged as the risk of kabooming himself is very real (great idea to put him the chariot for +2 to AS though). The steed of shadows hero is a really cool idea, especially as a sneaky WM/wizard hunter. Violating your Slaanesh theme, but you could give him mark of nurgle to add fear and +1 W to the equation. Downgrading to an aspiring champ would offset the points difference over mark of Slaanesh. Something you might want to consider is adding some skirmishing units. You have very high point sinks on characters I've noticed in your lists (probably not least of all because they're very fun to convert and paint!), and if you shed some of those points you could get a unit or two of beastmen giving you a lot more tactical flexibility/screening capability. I'd certainly take them over Marauders, the T4 and ungor meat shields would keep them alive about as long, and the 360 degree charge at 10" would have been hard for Stos to counter with things like flimsy bats, wolves and reliance on IoN+charge tactics. One of my favorites I've watched, thanks guys!
I miss Duane.. He needs to face the new stuff you have! So chill with guys like him, we need more of them in the community. He puts his effort so nceily into making beautiful stuff.
The Slaanesh Army was very vibrant but also a lot of questionable composition decisions. Game ended up looking close because A. Vampire Counts can't capitalize on any of the big weaknesses and B. the dice were very lopsided for most of the game. Only major rules issue that I saw was Giants don't Panic from small models, Cav and Infantry, so that might have changed something. Otherwise good game. :]
Gronkh ? is the true Hero of the Game.... The Vendetta of the Zombies was successful ... at last, Turn 5 of Vampire Counts brings the Swing of winning, the Giant is awsome (Miniature and combat Power), at the End two new Units to use, stop the Giant and the Knights to rampart the Rest of the Army (goog Strategy), Interesting Battle, thank you

Back in time when i played the Opponent rolled if ur iwn army git Hit by something from yourself. Like with the knights and that spell. Stoss woukd roll how many wounds and wiukd do the wound rolls
Great battle as always. But I am at a complete loss as to why the exalted champion charged those zombies. if you're going to pull that move the one thing you DON'T want to do is declare a challenge then you just smite that nerd straight out of the front rank.
Well, the first time you could think he fell in a trap, but the next combat round, again... I said it last time, some players need some help. This game could ended in turn 2. Bad charge to the gouls, bad not using dispell scroll against dance macabre, mad charge with a exalted champion just to kill zombies...too many bad choices. But dude, if you are getting charged in all combats (by undeads....), if you challenged and fall in a trap, and next turn do the same...I don't know, maybe there is no hope. The Slaneesh army is amazing, and the list is quite interesting. Daemon weapon in a LvL4 sorcerer in a chariot is very nice, I have never though about this posibility. But Duane has to think a battle plan, and think his movements. Playing randomly makes victory an impossible
Yeah sad to say I agree with these points. If you want to kill the Necromancer obviously you can't issue a challenge. And please God don't charge the Ghouls, the trap was not exactly subtle.... I also feel the dogs could be better used. If you're gonna make your Knights frenzied screen them with the dogs. Also, those black Knights should've had dogs in front of them blocking and redirecting for sure. I do like the army, Slaanesh magic is excellent too. And the Daemon sword on a Slaaneshi Sorceror lord is a good pick I think. It would be interesting to use Steed of Shadows on him actually. Having the combat profile of a Keeper of Secrets somewhere unexpected could be pretty clutch.
@@isakjohansson112 there is no reason to cast this spell on the knights before they are in combat. You make them uncontrollable and risk yourself to suffer casualties. This spell can be (and should be) cast when the unit is in combat, not before. In any case, probably Duane was going to charge these ghouls without frenzy as well. He doesn't have any plan, doesn't think about any movement. "Why have you charge with your exalted champion to my zombies?" "i don't know". Prior that, I was thinking that was an absolutely genius movement...hunting down a necromancer, maybe lose the paladin, but the necromancer is more important. But then, a cold water tsunami in my face: challenge with Grot. One turn after another. There wasn't no plan about kill the necromancer, it was just random: I can cast this shit and charge. Go ahead. Why? Who cares. And probably that's the question. Duane doesn't care the game at all. He is probably the best at conversioning miniatures of the f****g World right now. He enjoys that, and plays only to see (briefly) his toys on table. He doesn't care about rules, deccisions, listbuilding, tactics...none of that. If he doesn't get a galactic amount of luck, he will never win one single game. And he doesn't care. He plays absolutely random because has no interest at all in the development of the game
Play 6th for now, the King of Editions, we dont have any idea of when ToW will be released. when it does finally come out youll be to much in loive with 6th and then you can just carry on playing 6th 🤣

The Slaanesh Army was very vibrant but also a lot of questionable composition decisions. Game ended up looking close because A. Vampire Counts can't capitalize on any of the big weaknesses and B. the dice were very lopsided for most of the game.
Only major rules issue that I saw was Giants don't Panic from small models, Cav and Infantry, so that might have changed something. Otherwise good game. :]

mate, have you considered using some tactics other than charging everything forward all at once to get into melee? Maybe some flanking/evasion maneuvers? 😅

@@rogueelementgaming haha fair enough. I used to play wood elves, which really forces one to learn a more manoever-based style of play. If you charge head on you just get crushed!
When the 1 knight died from the side effect if that frenzy spell shoukdnt they have taken a panic test fir 25%

Great battle as always. But I am at a complete loss as to why the exalted champion charged those zombies. if you're going to pull that move the one thing you DON'T want to do is declare a challenge then you just smite that nerd straight out of the front rank.

I said it last time, some players need some help. This game could ended in turn 2. Bad charge to the gouls, bad not using dispell scroll against dance macabre, mad charge with a exalted champion just to kill zombies...too many bad choices.
But dude, if you are getting charged in all combats (by undeads....), if you challenged and fall in a trap, and next turn do the same...I don't know, maybe there is no hope.
The Slaneesh army is amazing, and the list is quite interesting. Daemon weapon in a LvL4 sorcerer in a chariot is very nice, I have never though about this posibility.
But Duane has to think a battle plan, and think his movements. Playing randomly makes victory an impossible
Yeah sad to say I agree with these points. If you want to kill the Necromancer obviously you can't issue a challenge. And please God don't charge the Ghouls, the trap was not exactly subtle....
I also feel the dogs could be better used. If you're gonna make your Knights frenzied screen them with the dogs. Also, those black Knights should've had dogs in front of them blocking and redirecting for sure.
I do like the army, Slaanesh magic is excellent too. And the Daemon sword on a Slaaneshi Sorceror lord is a good pick I think. It would be interesting to use Steed of Shadows on him actually. Having the combat profile of a Keeper of Secrets somewhere unexpected could be pretty clutch.

@@isakjohansson112 there is no reason to cast this spell on the knights before they are in combat. You make them uncontrollable and risk yourself to suffer casualties. This spell can be (and should be) cast when the unit is in combat, not before.
In any case, probably Duane was going to charge these ghouls without frenzy as well. He doesn't have any plan, doesn't think about any movement. "Why have you charge with your exalted champion to my zombies?" "i don't know". Prior that, I was thinking that was an absolutely genius movement...hunting down a necromancer, maybe lose the paladin, but the necromancer is more important. But then, a cold water tsunami in my face: challenge with Grot. One turn after another. There wasn't no plan about kill the necromancer, it was just random: I can cast this shit and charge. Go ahead. Why? Who cares.
And probably that's the question. Duane doesn't care the game at all. He is probably the best at conversioning miniatures of the f****g World right now. He enjoys that, and plays only to see (briefly) his toys on table. He doesn't care about rules, deccisions, listbuilding, tactics...none of that. If he doesn't get a galactic amount of luck, he will never win one single game. And he doesn't care. He plays absolutely random because has no interest at all in the development of the game

Play 6th for now, the King of Editions, we dont have any idea of when ToW will be released. when it does finally come out youll be to much in loive with 6th and then you can just carry on playing 6th 🤣
