    Thank you. Just built this yesterday using a different drill press/workbench vise I picked up at Home Depot. Was super easy to build and beats the heck out of trying to regrip a handful of clubs while pushing the clubhead into the ground while trying to maintain enough leverage to get the grip fully installed.

    Great idea. I would’ve tried it if I didn’t already have a workaround. I use a Black and Decker Workmate ($30) with one of those cheap rubber shaft clamps that comes with regripping kits. Then I brace it against a wall and put a bucket under the grip to catch the solvent.

    I stumbled on this video and like the idea. I live in Key West and space is a premium, so this concept is right on. Can you share what clamp you used or others you may recommend?
    Another modification I may try is instead of using the small piece at the end and using the wall for support, I thought I might try flipping it around and that piece to catch the front edge of a table or bench. It might make it easier to use if you don't have a wall (like outside) and it's easier to mount one of the commercially available solvent tray reclaim systems.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used one of the shaft clamps from Golfworks but honestly most of the available ones are pretty similar unless they are pneumatic.
      Let me know how your modification works out.

      @@EFGMC I just finished a modification of your design. As mentioned above, I place a 1x1 under the main body (I used a 2x6) to catch a table or bench versus pushing on a wall. Timing is excellent. I live in a condo and have been a clubmaker for over 23 years. BUT, my shop is in MI and I am in FL. Live in a 1100 sq ft condo, so space is an issue, just as you mentioned. Really like this idea. What do you think about a portable workbench to "clamp" the 2x4 into? Would also add the drip pan on the other end. Just need to find a safe way to remove the grips. Thanks for the video.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like it would work as long as you still have a wall or similar to brace against when sliding the grips on.
      As far as removing grips, you can always just use some utility scissors as a safe option. It's not the fastest way but it works. I used this method when I did a video about using rubber cement to regrip clubs. Those weren't the best scissors for it but still worked.

Will still go with your idea of the 2x4 but add another piece of wood on the vice side, in order to attach the grip solvent pan. Anxious to get this all set up. Hey AJ. If you have a shaft puller station that already has a shaft clamp, why wouldn't you use that for re-gripping too?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Shaft puller usually can only hold the tip end of the shaft. The butt end on mine at least will not fit into the puller. You really need to be able to clamp the shaft on the grip side to do regrips and not risk damaging the shaft.

    As of June 2023 it looks like they no longer make that model. The newer one has bolts that go sideways. The metal frame on that one does not look as strong.

      It arrived today. I had already made the 2x4 rig ahead of time. I did not realize it came with a metal bar already mounted at the bottom. That looks like it’s to be used in an existing vise. I removed the bolts and used those in the wood. I Then drilled the holes near one side of the 2 x 4. That was to allow the mechanism that holds the club to line up somewhat down the middle of that length of 2x4.
      I’m going to start doing grips tomorrow . I also made marks along the length of the wood with a ruler. I marked the correct length of the grip tape. This way, it’s the exact correct length, including a bit extra to wrap over the open end of the shaft.
      Thanks again!
