  • Hello everyone. This past weekend I had the opportunity to explore a very prestigious location. Sitting in Michigan lies an untouched beautiful abandoned funeral home. Shut down in 2019, the owners were forced to step down due to negligence in the mortuary fields. Join me, as we take a look at this former place of resting 🖤⚰️

I like how you use your ears and or earbuds. Plenty of other viewers complaining about the sound when it’s clearly audible! Thank you for clarifying

That machine was a "Portaboy"Embalming Machine. It only pumps fluids and doesn't extract blood or cavity fluids. The tank on top is filled with 2 gallons of water and 16 oz of arterial fluid. It has a pulse feature to simulate a beating heart. Blood and body fluids run down the trough of the table along the sides and into a slop sink or toilet. My brother is a Funeral Director/Embalmer. This is how I know.

That is so neat! The same model was used on Harry S. Trumans body at time of passing

The lift was/is used to lift the body and place it in the casket from the dressing or embalming table. It never leaves the funeral home. The embalming machine is a Duotronic. The "urns" you speak of are sample burial vaults. The family can see the different ones before making a choice. The casket goes in the burial vault which is in the ground before anyone gets to the cemetery. Many families never pick up the ashes and just leave them there. One f/d where I used to live went to a local cemetery, with a shovel, and buried ashes about every six months or so for those who never came to pick them up.

The embalming machine is a Edwards Equipment Co. Duotronic Injector Embalming Machine, the small concrete boxes are burial vault models to show family.

Actually, I'd argue usually it's the owner (or beneficiaries of the estate) who generally trash funeral homes that have been shut down and abandoned.

Someone ought to take possession of all those Caskets, Chairs in the Chapel and all the Furniture. They could fix up those Caskets and sell at a Discounted price or Better yet donate them to poor Families, This is Really a Damn Shame. You would think there would be some Organization or something that they would suppose to go to.

No prob hearing the audio. The "Urns" are outer burial vault samples (gold, silver etc.) to show customers and are different prices. The casket is placed in those at the cemetery. In almost every funeral home many, many times cremains are left and never picked up. It's quite sad. Those phones are the "AT&T Merlin System" and were quite good for businesses. You won't see many of those around anymore. Those were usually on lease. In all, a very nicely done video. I have subbed. Much Success to you!!

Might have been seized in bankruptcy or criminal fraud proceedings. If you go to the beginning there is narration that explains that the owner had failed to deposit nearly $300,000 in prepaid funeral/cremation deposits.

I enjoyed your video. Although what you believed were earned are just displays of vaults. Also the mechanism that you said was used to lower bodies into the ground is incorrect that was to place bodies in caskets. Also the cremated remains is very common when a person has no family members or it was a state cremation many times the remains were unclaimed. It is sad but very common

Some families do not want the "cremains" (the correct term for cermation or ashes) The funeral homes keep them indefinately until they will properly buried. Sometimes local cemetaries will bury them at no charge. The funeral home cannot dispose of the cremains.
