      If you haven't already started eliminating carbs, you may need to give yourself more than just a weekend. The carb/sugar/caffeine withdrawals can be really agonizing, and you need to be prepared for it. Have a plan, then follow through. It's worth it!

    I have been transitioning to carnivore for a year while studying the diet and learning about inflammation and such. Started by cutting off some vegetables, then pasta, bread, pizza and all starches. Then started cutting off sugar, milks, rice, and finally salads and fruits. During the first month of going full meat/eggs/butter/salt/water/coffee I kept full fat greek yoghurt to "cheat" on a difficult craving day but no more than 3 tablespoons weekly. Now all that's left to cut is coffee and vaping and I am working on it. I even almost totally cut out chicken and pork because I prefer the taste of beef. I totally agree with the statement that there is no reason to go back to having fun through eating. I have been having fun with how different I feel myself. And I don't even instantaneously think of cheating anymore. I love what is happening to my body and mind. I love this carnivore community.

      Good luck with quitting vaping, I didn't realise how much vaping satiated sugar cravings for me. I went onto pouches with artificial sweeteners and immediately got addicted to them. Beef hamburger patties, eggs, seafood, a bit of cheese, rare zero-fat plain yogurt, butter, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium), water. That's what I consume today for 15 months or so. Never felt better, at ideal body weight. I love living life and being fully healthy, an experience many never have. I'm hot and people desire me and tell me so. I love myself and find carnivore a concrete way of giving myself love. I do not eat plants, sugar, carbs, fruits, vegetables, fiber, take vitamins, etc. I've never seen anyone do carnivore for 6 months and stop. I'll never stop carnivore. A fat-based energy metabolism is how almost all mankind lived for all history up to 3K years ago, depending how you define it. Modern industrial agriculture didn't really exist before c. 1950. Sugar is not my narcotic of choice. Knowledge is power, overcoming obstacles is the key to success. Sharing my story for those who may benefit. Blessings to all and cheers.

    Thanks Kerry... I understand completely about being a sugar/carb addict... I am one and I kept on thinking I could just have one meal and go back to Carnivore... Just one lunch at a restaurant with my friend... and I would go back to strict Carnivore... but I couldn't... I kept on for the past five and a half years fooling myself that I was a Carnivore when in fact, I would have a bit of carb food once a week or so and then I would suffer with those horrible cravings... Honestly, keeping to 95% Carnivore has been absolutely dreadful for five and a half years... I can't do it anymore... Moderation is not the answer... I have to be 100% Carnivore for it to work for me... Thank God every day is a new opportunity to get it right. I believe in the Carnivore way of living.

      I started carnivore last year in April; even going on vacations I did fairly well; yes I had the occasional cracker and maybe an occasional salad; was losing weight at 2 to3 lbs a month; I was thrilled ; then came the holidays; frankly I only cheated fully on the given holiday; continued to loss weight through Dec. Started the NY by including some other foods by the end of January I was probably doing carnivore 80%; I was not losing weight anymore. In fact the months Jan-March I gained a total of 12 lbs; I have to get back on the wagon because right now my clothes fit but I can't afford to buy new clothes when I just got rid of so many because of the weight loss:; the biggest difference is how I feel; my legs, knees and back are killing me; I haven't had this much pain in months; it just reminds me it is the foods we eat that causes the inflammation.

      I never knew I was a sugar addict, then I went Carnivore and it became stunningly obvious: the struggle, the justification, the cravings, and the anger that this junk was now being denied me. Wow. The government and the food industry are modern-day pushers.

      I also thought it would be easy to have the unhealthy things once in a while. On Carnivore I felt amazing. My family did not agree with what I was doing. My problems began when my husband bought special things for Christmas…dark chocolate (because it was healthier) SF candies…I ate it and paid for it☹️ It has just been downhill from there. Easter was the jump off the cliff😩 I feel awful. I miss how great I felt. Starting back on the right path TODAY! I wish I could convince my husband. I’ve read that measuring weight loss on carnivore isn’t a good indicator of success because your body is absorbing a lot more of what you eat, which increases bone density and muscle mass. So although you might not be losing weight, you’re still burning fat.

    Thanks for the advance notice on what’s to come.
    I’m 2 months in and hit a “holy grail” moment 2 weeks ago. I started sleeping easily for 6-7 hours. It’s because I don’t have anxious brain (which goes hand in hand with brain fog). It’s a miracle in my book
    I’m an RN 2 months into this journey. I had to unlearn all the nutrition education I sought out. It certainly wasn’t part of my nursing degree. It’s all wrong.
    I can work my 12 hour shifts with ease and no fighting to get through afternoon fatigue from adrenal issues I’ve had for decades.
    I’m feeling the best I’ve ever felt since my early 20s when I started to gain weight.
    I was far enough into carnivore that when I started my new job, I had no cravings. This is a big deal because health care people snack and share. It was so easy to decline the good offers.
    I established this boundary and no one is offended. I’m educating them on carnivore too.
    I’ve come too far in less than 2 months to ever go back. I just got everything I was long for. (Sleep and no anxiety).
    No more emo eating. Food prep is so easy. Air fryer and pressure cooker, cast iron skillet, small ceramic coated fry pan. No menu planning. No searching for snacks to kill a craving or get energy.
    I know my hormones are in the process regulating into homeostasis. I’m now getting appropriate hunger cues. My life no longer revolves around food.
    Do yourself a favor and get rid of everything in the cupboard that’s not meat, salt or butter. Donate to a good pantry. Give your spices away you won’t need them.
    Life on every level has gotten so much more simple.

    Today, April 22, 2024 it’s my 54th birthday and my 5th day on 100% Carnivore . I’ve finally purged all the glucose out of my body 100% now, and I’m in full ketosis, where my body is burning only on ketones, which is now burning my fat stores on my body. My average blood glucose was 162 on my glucose meter, now, even after eating 2 plain Whopper patties, my glucose actually went from 102, Down to 100 , instead of skyrocketing up like usual, even reaching 305 one time! Yesterday was the first day where most of my glucose numbers were under 100; 92, 98, 94… I have about 120 pound to lose, so my journey has just begun. Dr. Chaffee discussed living to age 120 in one of his videos. He said something like "If you die before age 120, something killed you."
    When I made the decision to go Carnivore (after being unspired by Dr. Berry's videos), I felt liberated! I wasn't afraid, because now, I could honor my lifelong love of meat. The tough part of my stage 1 was -- can I throw off decades of eating destructive carbs and sugar? Reaching out to the Carnivore community helped me tremendously. I so appreciate you and all of the other Carnivores whose stories have been so encouraging.
    A critical lesson I learned from the beginning -- when it comes to carbs and sugar, there is no going back. If I eat even one cookie, game over. Moderation is not an option.
    I have no worries about being perceived as crazy by being Carnivore. Destroying my health with carbs and sugar was what was crazy!
    I recently finished reading THE BIG FAT SURPRISE by Nina Teichold. She tears through the tons of misinformation about fat and how harmful the promotion of low-fat diets has been.

    I've been eating this way for about 3 months, for metabolic healing and weight loss. I guess I'm in stage 3. The thing about this way of eating which is impossible to explain to anyone who hasn't experienced it, is how it changes your relationship with food. It's such a relief that food has become a simple, pleasurable but minimal part of my day, leaving me calm, satisfied and free to get on with what I need to do without interruptions from hunger and cravings. It's a miraculous transformation which has to be experienced to be understood.

I let my self have a slice of key lime pie. It basically got me high, and I ate THE WHOLE pie. Then I ate ANOTHER pie. I didn't gain any weight, I felt fine, but noticed some joint pain after an intense leg day, but my muscle size went way up ( glycogen ). I started letting myself "eat treats" because I thought "hey I fixed my insulin resistance, I can just be normal now".
    After about 3 months of being non-carnivore, my depression came back, I started drinking liquor a lot, then my mind and physique just went to shit. I got back on keto, then carnivore, and now I avoid the "treats" like the plague now.

    Thank you for the informative session. I found this way of life through having Crohn's disease. Took Humira for 10 years, until my body finally started to reject it. The doctors idea was to put me on some new drugs. This was a major wake up call for me. I finally started to look for other ways to help my body heal itself. Carnivore diet showed up on my radar, and I have yet to find a negative review about it. Been doing this for 1 week, fully immersed in it and lost 9 pounds. Found myself actually enjoying eating again! Lots of eggs, bacon beef and some chicken. Ghee for fat, along with cooking only with bacon grease. Life changing. In the past if I slept for 5 continous hours it was a victory. I now sleep 8 hours undisturbed. My joints do not hurt when I wake up, my mind is so clear, and my joy of just living has elevated. I have energy to play with my kids, no more naps and actually looking for things to accomplish, let that be honey-do chores around the house, or just walking 5 miles to scout for the upcoming deer season. ( Hard core bow hunter for whitetails). It is the only way I see myself eating and living the rest of my life. Days 5 and 6 sucked but now on day 7 my body seems to have jumped back into overdrive. 7 months into carnivore and I never made it to the homeostasis stage. 😭 Instead I nearly ended up in the hospital with diverticulitis and weight gain. I then had some problems and though I didn't fall into the trap of the SAD way of eating again, I wasn't even keto for a while. Over the last 4 years, the fear of what I went through and weight gain has kept me from trying again and I've just been unable (or unwilling to be honest) to stick to strict keto. I'm now nearly a week into carnivore again, this time being more aware of keeping my GI tract. When I did it before, it was always, "your body is just healing and will figure it out", "it's not constipation you just go less" (even though I KNEW I was constipated), "just up your fat that you're eating" (even though I was getting nauseous when trying to eat) and lastly the fun one, "you're not losing because you aren't eating enough". I was miserable and maybe I'm not "doing it right" this time around, I think I'm just going to stop worrying about how much I eat or even when I eat and just eat what and when my body says to eat while using mct oil (gasp) to make sure I keep things "moving". If I don't get into stage 3 this time around I don't know if I'll have enough mental strength to keep going. Oh, yeah, and I really wasn't feeling better at all while eating that way either, I still had all my inflammation and aches and pains.

Shopping has gotten easier, we shop just for animal products. 😂 this week a local grocery spot had a special on NY strips, I’ve loaded up enough for 30 days, felt bad but hey it’s a deal. Thank you for sharing your life and cannot wait for the documentary. 🙏🏼

    Today is day 215 on the carnivore diet. Im changing it up on the 1st of
    April. I'm not getting what I need from it, so l'm going to do the lions
    diet for 30 days and go from there. I have been following Dr. Berry from
    the start, but it's just not working for me like it should. So it's time for
    drastic measures. After 30 days, I will re-evaluate and go from there.

      I did 90 days of a super strict keto diet (pure carnivore + avocado, psyllium husk and kimchi), coming from a normal keto diet. The weight loss slowed to a halt and I was down on energy by the end. So I decided to try and get my body used to carbs again in order to trick it into spending more energy. As soon as I had my first carb in the form of a pizza, I just couldn't stop. I ended up eating two family sized chocolate bars and a large tub of ice cream. I didn't stop eating junk for a week and gained 12 lbs in weight! I stopped eating on Saturday and fasted until Monday afternoon. I even went to the gym and trained in a fasted state. Being back on track feels amazing and I learnt how incredibly addictive carbs are.

    One thing I experienced when I went through the sugar withdrawal was a severe drop in my dopamine. I suffered pretty intense depression for a few days so I hung out with friends and had lots of hugs. I ate butter slices and napped. I kept drinking water and made Dr Ken Berry’s ketorade electrolyte drink. It really helped.

    I’ve had 0 carbs other than the bit in eggs for over a year. I’ve been carnivore for two years, with a couple of keto vacations thrown in and a couple beers in those weeks. I’ve lost 80+ lbs and weigh what I did in high school. Pre diabetes symptoms, high blood pressure, brain fog, breathing problems, depression all gone. Arthritis 95% gone.

    You're doing great. I'm longer termly thinking wisely but I keep tripping up over alcohol. Like once a month. Only when I'm stressed. I need to regulate my life but 10 weeks is the longest I've gone since 17yo and I'm 41yo. I'm a heavy metaler and it just came with the lifestyle..I left my band years ago but still..I'm not a daily drinker now but now I'm lifting. I'm trying each day to flip my focus onto lifting, being humble and realising only I can fix me.

      Keep going bro! I was on my way to being an alcoholic before carnivore. I was getting drunk every night having between 3 beers to a whole six pack.
      In the last year and a half I've had one shot and maybe three glasses of wine and only because I was in a social situation where I didn't want to make anyone else feel bad.
      I literally have zero desire to drink and it's because of carnivore.

    I’m 3 weeks in and have lost a dress size. I didn’t have any issues with starting the carnivore. I just made up my mind one morning after watching a few videos. First week I had no sugar cravings, just eating meat butter and eggs. Week 2 felt fluish and lethargic but my eyesight improved, foggyness disappeared. Week 3 I still had no cravings and doing OMAD. Added some Celtic salt to my water and sometimes my meal. My waist has shrunk and I’m feeling great, I did have quite a large stomach to begin with, inflammation and lower back discomfort and sciatica. I’ll reach my 30 day goal and I may carry on for the 90 days. Why should I change what’s working. My exercise is walking for 1 hour per day.

    So true on the sugar. I lost 40 lbs going carnivore. Then I stalled and it was around Christmas. So I decided that I could cheat a little bc of the time of the year. 30 pounds later and I;m restarting almost from the same place. Sugar is an addiction.

  • @sadtosuccess
    @sadtosuccess หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    It's also worth keeping in mind that a carnivore diet is a sub set of the ketogenic diet (basically carnivore with a salad). The ketogenic diet is the diet with the most randomised controlled trails of any diet in history. That means there is a lot of evidence showing that the diet is safe and more effective compared to pretty much any diet it's been tested against (often the Mediterranean diet). Low Carb Down Under is a channel that has lots of talks by doctors and scientists in this field. So if you're worried about heart diseases and worsening type 2 diabetes by eating lots of saturated fat, or, getting cancer and kidney disease from eating lots of animal protein there are numerous videos on that channel describing the science (with references) of why that isn't something you need to worry about.

    • @munao8453
      @munao8453 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      keto with salad did nothing for me- did it with IF too. 2 weeks after going carnivore my inflammation disappeared and my cravings and my hunger totally disappeared. Everyone is different though and people need to listen to their bodies

    • @sadtosuccess
      @sadtosuccess หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@munao8453 that's not the point I'm making. Plenty of people do great on keto, some need carnivore. What I am saying is that when someone is stating that there is no science relating to the carnivore diet, that isn't exactly true. There is plenty of science on a meat heavy diet that puts you in the same metabolic state (ketosis) as the carnivore diet and that science very often applies to the carnivore diet. For example, the research on lean mass hyper responders on a ketogenic diet will apply to the lean mass hyper responders on a carnivore diet because it is the metabolic state and the lack of carbs, true for both that makes the difference. So educating ourselves on the science around the ketogenic diet can give us a lot of confidence in dealing with the objections thrown at us as carnivores.

    • @munao8453
      @munao8453 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@sadtosuccess got it. and I agree with you because I have friends that do fantastic on keto and have heard countless number of testimonials about it. In fact my mother did keto in the 80's before it was a mainstream thing and lost 50#

      I was once strict carnivore and yeah that's the diet that best for my health issues. I see the difference when I'm strict and not. But almost 3 years ketovore/ carnivore I'm less strict. I find that milk helps with the cravings although it still inflammatory for some and contains sugar but it's better for me to consume dairy than to eat other things that triggers my conditions.

    Great vid, thanks for breaking it down into stages, it really helps.
    I came at this from being super lean. Always ate low fat high carb, high sugar but have a physical job and did heavy gym and martial arts training as well. Didnt consume nearly enough protein, fat or salt to support myself and suffered structural damage as a result.
    I gave up sugar and processed foods a year ago but went carnivore just before Christmas.
    Stuggled with not having any real body fat and dropped to an unhealthy weight, trying to stuff down fat for energy but unable to absorb it efficiently, lots of diarrhea and struggled with leg cramps. I gave up coffee to try to help with the bathroom issues and noticed an 80% reduction in social anxiety within weeks. The mental health benefits were enough to convince me to keep going. Im putting on weight now, muscle mainly and gut is a bit more stable, i just need to kick my remaining vices, nicotine and cheese and i think things will be better still.
    Massive congratulations to eveyone on their results, especially all those folk with diabetes, autoimmune disease and cancer, truly amazing stories and achievements. Keep thriving everyone 👍

    I love 💕 your passion to tell people about the carnivore diet.
    I am jealous of how well you are doing on the carnivore diet.
    I am 66. Sad diet 49 years. Raw vegan 13 years. 1 year keto… 1 year ketovore… 4 years going on carnivore and still am healing… the second year of carnivore started broken bones… 🦴 for a little over a year I broke 13 bones and 3 surgeries… I figured out this about me… raw vegan stage my body stopped eating… if I ate.. it was blended greens… which I would throw up! 🤮 yup.
    So when starting the carnivore diet… I didn’t know I was suppose to eat and eating just a little made me full… so I’m still learning to eat enough… sence Oct I’ve been eating every meal… 3 times a day… and if I’m craving anything… I eat fat… doing this I have gained back 25 lbs… today I noticed I’m retaining water… which I think is a healing thing… I’m still healing… I don’t know when that will change… I pray I will be able to tell because… like u… I will just forget to eat… right… problem is… I’ve been forceing myself to eat because I never want to eat… BUT ifs not hungry pains. I Feel… it’s pain… if I’m in pain, I must eat… so I just eat as much as I can… I don’t know when I realized I was hungry because my body was in pain…
    Today I’m better… not near as much pain.. I would like to start lifting weights.. to build up muscle before I attend fasting again… but lifting weight brings pain… I’ve got to be able to read my pain…
    I love 💕 your attitude… it helps so much… I have to tell myself it’s ok to be fat if I’m m still alive and feeling better everyday… thank u!
    PS… I do not know what stage I am in… I do not think I am like other people… I hope this helps someone else… so what is healing stage???
