Two years ago Montana sent out 1200 elk tags by mistake. Then they sent out a letter and postage paid envelope to mail it back in. The regs are so difficult to follow in Montana that they don’t even know who is supposed to get tags! 😂
Lived here all my life on the rez never had to deal with them but do see them when we fish or hunt 😅 so I don't know about those tags or regulations LOL
Regs are extremely easy to follow!!! Imagine back in the day when you actually had to read a booklet & get mail 😂 back then absolutely nobody cried about it but now everyone is so entitled to do whatever & absolutely uneducated that they don't know you can destroy a population of deer , elk , Moose etc by filling tags or thought of i need to feed my family all year & then a bad winter happens ... I watched the biggest area in our state i hunted for well over 20 years to this day & so many others never recover from a ton of doe tags handed out, then a couple terrible winters & wolves being reintroduced into our state ... Oh wolves have every right to do as they want you will say similar but wolves weren't in our state until reintroduced by ppl that love them on a screen but I will tell you from experience they are not beautiful surrounded when you come up to the deer you shot or just walking out of the woods thinking you are dinner for all 5 visible
It is wild how diffrent hunting laws are in every state. I get it for sure, have to preserve the wildlife so we all can enjoy, just crazy how diffrent it can be, definitely better be reading those regs good.
I'm glad I don't live in this state as a vigilant rule reader and follower and an avid outdoorsman having to deal with all the wild differences I'm afraid I would quit hunting/ fishing because of how ridiculous it is
Our wonderful warden are honest hard working guys that give the benefit of the doubt more often then not. Our laws and there enforcement are the root cause of wildlife populations thriving in MT. Thx tho.
It is actually quite easy to stay good with the regulations - just takes planning for the hunting trip. Know when I can shoot, when I can't, where I can shoot, where I can't, how to process game, etc. Once you hunt quite a bit, it gets to be just part of the entire process.
I think the gentleman’s agreement was great. I know that it was very hard to watch that big deer suffer. The warden did the best for the deer, but that is hard.
Not really if you read them they are pretty self explanatory. No hunting before noon. Must have private land owners permission. Must have proper tag for what your shooting. So on and so forth. Not very complicated
I'm glad I live in Western Australia where the rules are a lot more clear. Any introduced animals are open 365 days a year, no bag limit, no size limit, no gender limit, no rules against thermal or spotlighting. Native animals have a few rules but nothing insurmountable. Montana rules seem convoluted.
Minnesota resident so I've never dealt with block management but I'm curious if the blocks regulations change depending on what zone of the state you're in or what block you're on because if different blocks have different rules in the same zones I can understand why people might be frustrated with all the extra rules not being easy to find aswell
I like how the wardens always say they want restitution for the animals killed like they own them but when you go after them cause their so called wrecks out a vehicle they will take no claim to their animal
The warden is not wanting those hunter on that 40 acres of state land that’s surrounded by private. Ole warden has probably seen a giant in there & wants to hunt it himself. He thinks he’s slick.
With the outrageous price of tags, conservation licenses and the regulations that seem to change all the time I stopped paying for license as I am not required to purchase them as a member of a federally recognized tribe.
Game wardens are underpaid, unloved, and in a dangerous line of work. Last year to poachers attempted to blow up a game wardens house! Its a tough job for sure.
Thats an honest mistake the land owner use to own the land. They tresspassed by mistake.. land owner is a pos for getting them cited and the deer taken
Amazing how much you learn but afraid to hunt since there’s so much rules and regulations laws now it’s unreal how strict people are since most people don’t listen now in days. “WOW”

Like it or not ur lucky to have wardens im sure if they gone for couple years nothing will be there to hunt.
Looks to me Montana is a nightmare state to hunt, and a hunter can get them self in so much trouble by mistake and looks like hunting has laws on top of same laws a lawyer would need to examine the hunting laws. Well as a traveler and hunter of other states I am never going to Montana to hunt.
Why oh Why call it a General tag if it's for bucks only why not state that its a buck only tag that's just a dumb idea to call it general because that to me means its an any sex tag doe or buck if it's not then call it what it is
I had woman in Indiana where i grew up hit a deer i was behind her buck was dragging its broken legs she called game warden i got out took my pistol finished it lff game warden got there she wanted me arrested said could have taken it to the vet
That wasn't a warden for sure. You probably got your officers mixed up. Wardens know an injured deer is a dead deer most times. They sure as heck wouldn't say they could have taken it to a vet.
@@MrOldclunkerno the warden didn't want it taken to the vet the woman who hit it wanted the warden to take it to the vet warden told her he would have did exactly what I did I saved the deer from suffering. With the last guys on the show they at least should have been like oh thank you and yeah we knew it was wrong kind of but we weren't sure but you should give half of that deer to the owner and then half of that deer to the food banks or that hold dear to the food banks it was illegal and then give half another deer to the landowner and say sorry for that that's what I would have did.
Montana needs to change its motto to” state where hunters shoot from the road.”

in my state we’re allowed one deer a year and other states it’s like one a day
@bhris8069 that stinks. We get 4 deer tags for bow and 2 for shotgun rifle season.and there's a muzzle loader season too.

Oregon has a “fishing trap” on the Columbia. I got caught. Total trap and huge fine.

A gentleman’s agreement? Why didn’t the warden give the guy one of the two bulls he confiscated!
That’s what I was thinking
They were illegally taken its mandatory he confiscates the illegal deer

why do u need proof of sex when you can clearly see its buck with the antlers lol
Every now and then you get an antlered doe. In MO it's just classified antlered and non antlered though to eliminate that issue.
why are you riding around with a cracked windshield duck hunting warden.
