Nice video! I completely agree with your argumentation and views. There is one thing that I would like to add because I don't feel like you have necessarily emphasised it enough, but the moment Peter gets his powers back is not when MJ is kidnapped by Dr Octopus, but actually went a car is thrown towards both Peter and MJ, and both their lives are in danger. On the surface level, this may seem like a coincidental time for him to get his powers back and naysayers, but when you pay more attention to the subtext of the scene, there's actually a deeper meaning. Bear in mind that the moment that car gets thrown at Peter and MJ, is approximately the same time Peter explicitly denies his love for MJ. Peter has a dream of living a normal civilian life with MJ. One of the reasons why Peter quit being Spider-Man is because he wanted to live a normal civilian life with MJ. There were other reasons too; Peter lost his spider powers, he wanted to have more time to study for university to improve his grades to avoid being flunked, and he also wanted to have healthier sleeping patterns because being Spider-Man robbed him of a lot of sleep, and so on. Peter sacrificed a lot of things for the sake of being Spider-Man, but he gradually loses his powers over the course of the movie because he was miserable, depressed and subconsciously didn't want to be Spider-Man anymore, but just live a normal civilian life like everyone else.
What inspired Peter to become Spider-Man again was that he learned that Spider-Man was a symbol of hope and inspiration to many people in New York. Henry is a literal example of this, and Aunt May, who knows that Peter is Spider-Man, uses Henry to inspire Peter into becoming Spider-Man again with a speech about heroes and how they inspire people. This motivates Peter to want to become Spider-Man again because he learns that Spider-Man is a symbol of hope and inspiration to the people of New York. What I particularly love about this is that it adds more depth and nuance to Peter's motivation to Spider-Man. Prior to this, the only reason why Peter was Spider-Man was because of Uncle Ben. Peter was motivated by feelings of guilt over Uncle Ben's death. Peter used his powers and Spider-Man persona as a way of trying to make up for Uncle Ben's death, largely because Peter felt like his Uncle's death was his fault due to his selfish inactions in the first movie. So Peter is motivated by a guilt complex. Peter was also motivated by Uncle Ben's strong sense of responsibility, which he instilled deeply into Peter's worldview in the first movie, so Peter's heroic actions as Spider-Man are his way of honouring Uncle Ben's ideals. So Peter is basically motivated by guilt and responsibility, which stemmed from Uncle Ben. But after hearing Aunt May's speech about heroes and how they are symbols of hope and inspiration to people (i.e. Henry), Peter learns that there's more to Spider-Man than just making up for Uncle Ben's death and living up to his ideals. People genuinely look up to Spider-Man, and they need him. But Spider-Man is gone, and people want him back, so Peter is motivated to become Spider-Man again because he feels like he owes it to the people who look up to him as a symbol of hope and inspiration. Peter consequently tries to see if he's got his powers back by running across a rooftoop and jumping off a building to recover his powers.
Of course, it doesn't work. Peter doesn't get his powers back in the "I'm back" scene even though he wants to become Spider-Man again. But I don't think the movie would've necessarily been better if he did get his powers in that specific scene. Peter regains the heroic convictions and sense of responsibility that made him Spider-Man in the first place, but at the same time, he doesn't have complete control over when his powers should function or not. I think this makes sense in the light of the movie's themes, one of them being sacrifice, because whe Peter gets his powers back later on, it occurs approximately at the same time he denies his love for MJ when she asks Peter if he loves her. Keep in mind that in Aunt May's speech, she says *"Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want most, even our dreams"* to Peter. Peter denying his love for MJ is a literal illustration of Peter giving up one of the things he wants the most: His dream of living a normal life with MJ. Peter gives up his dream of being with MJ, and then he consequently gets his powers back. I think all these scenes imply that Peter's powers were suppressed by mental blocks. These mental blocks being that he no longer wanted to be Spider-Man so that he could live a normal civilian life so that he can focus on himself, take care of himself and be with MJ. Peter's powers gradually faded away because of those subconscious dreams. The moment they come back is when Peter sacrifices all those dreams. Peter's character arc in this movie is about sacrifice, identity and choices. Peter has to learn to accept the sacrifices that are necessary to be the ideal hero.
On the side note, I would also like to add that it could be argued that Peter gradually gained his powers back. In the "I'm back" scene, Peter falls a long drop from a skyscraper, slams into a wall headfirst, and falls onto a bunch of cars. I am not even sure if any human being can walk away from that fall without suffering major injuries. Peterdoes feel back pains from that fall, but doesn't seem to have back problems later on. I think it is plausible that Peter's powers did come back TO AN EXTENT, but not completely. They come back completely when Peter gives up his dreams.

Yea in hindsight I probably should have emphasized that a little more. It pretty much is the point I'm trying to make and I think you did a better job conveying that here than I did lol. Thanks for the comment!

Nice video man! I heavily agree because saying that he only came back from MJ really undermines Spider-Man as a character as Spider-Man doesn’t just save a girl he likes.
I agree a lot that his powers start to come back when he made the decision to be Spider-Man/not be with MJ. Personally I feel like his powers 100% come back after MJ is kidnapped and he can’t save her, as I think it’s a revival of his pain from Uncle Ben. He feels responsible for his death so when his loved ones are in danger again that feeling of responsibility comes back big time. Hence also why he doesn’t need his glasses anymore/his vision is sharp again after Doc Ock is gone with MJ
