Wonderhole overall is a literal masterpiece of a show but this episode in particular was so beautiful in so many ways!! It was earnest and emotional, clever and interesting, ironic and hilarious, all together compelling and executed flawlessly. This project is a genuine work of art, all the wonder of GMM, all the personality of Rhett & Link, with a smooth TV finish. This is a genuine gift!
by the way i just want to say that this is an actual form of therapy specifically designed for men in the last few years in australia, where a group of or more men get together and say work on a bike, or chop down a tree, it helps put an added layer of distance to painful memories and was very successful in its time. this is an excellent example of that. Mens mental health is woefully undertalked about and this type of therapy actually does something for men, well done lads!
Thanks for the info! Do you mind dropping any resources or links for this sort of therapy? Maybe any studies done for it? This genuinely seems to be the best option to bridge the communication gap most men find. When our hands are busy, our minds are free and the thoughts can flow out more naturally.
I would hope that I am the type of person that if I died of testicular cancer, my friends created a lengthy TH-cam comedy musical about nuts. I don’t want anything serious. Just the nut jokes. Perfect tribute to your friend!
i lost my best friend almost three years ago now and watching this made me realise that there’s nothing worse than looking back and thinking, “what could i have done different?” “what could i have said?” “should i have spent more time with them?” “could i have?” i can’t believe a wonderhole video is about to make me cry
It cant leave you, that feeling will fade but never die because you loved them, the worst thing is if there was a 'simple' solution like if they wore a seat-belt when it happened and you could have made a bet with them to keep them belted the whole journey or some other far-fetched solution like take the longer road or have them explain their steering-wheel wasn't centered, sometimes they die because of easily prevented but somehow nontrivial factors that will haunt you forever with what-ifs.
I lost one of my dearest friends this month and think those things a lot. But ultimately, I have to trust that our friends knew how much we loved them and want us to have amazing experiences on their behalf. ❤
The shot at 20:58 is beautiful with what appears to be the sapling in front of the tree. Grief may break down and create huge crashes and obstacles that feel unavoidable, but something new can grow out of it as well. Thank you, Rhett and Link.
The way you honored your friend’s life while also simultaneously giving a funny drama squirrel story was perfectly executed. Rest in peanut butter Ben 🤍
The cinematography on this was absolutely fantastic. The opening shot with the trees wiping between each of them, leaving empty space at the end. Hard cutting between Rhett & Link as the axe swings to show how they were working together. Framing from a distance to give the feeling of observation. The final, still shot showing how each individual cut led up to the final product. Amazing.
When I read three friends, I heard the name Ben. Because I remembered the episode you both talked about him. That had to be years ago.....I've been through so much in my own life these past years but Ben somehow I instantly remembered and I know that's because of you guys. Ben lives on and will not be forgotten because I can fully say I never forgot about Ben.
Randall mythical f*cking Park!?! What a pull, the production value of this series is definitely recognized. The love and care y'all put into all of these episodes, this one especially, is beyond incredible. Y'all are really doing and being your mythical best.

Its been over a decade since i lost one of my best friends to depression. He never met my kids and they never got to see the unending selflessness one person could be capable of. The unrelenting humor and lighthearted joy he was as a person. I take my kids to play atthe park he passed away at often. They just get to enjoy it, and i get to remind myself the best way for him to live on is to be like him and continue his mission to be kind and funny and carefree and thoughtful and adventurous. They know him, they just dont know it. Cried my grown man tears watchin this one.
Just wanted to say this was really a wonderfully full and heartfelt story, and worthy lesson, all in one TH-cam comment. Thanks for posting it and best to you and your family!
Thanks for sharing. As someone massively struggling with depression, it's helps to hear that others have at least had a legacy and didn't just evaporate. I'm so sorry for your loss, though...
What a beautiful last frame with the focus fading from the fallen tree to the tiny new plant growing. Representative of the HUGE impact Ben had on your lives. The trio as you knew it came to a dramatic halt with his passing, but his extraordinary way of living continues on through you both now, and forever with all the lives you’ve touched. An endless cycle. One tree fallen, one thousand more planted. Thanks for all the life you gave us, tree. And thank you, Ben. Tears once again, boys. Such a creative and special tribute to your other best friend.
this is such a silly, beautiful, loving and tender memorial and dedication to a lost friend. this is some of the most genuinely i think we've ever heard yall speak; not speaking to us, but to ben. the humor and love behind all of this is amazing, and its clear how much ben had an impact on your lives. with how you keep his name alive, and how you love him so dearly, im sure that wherever he may be he knows and can see it.
So much symbolism in this video. Making an entire song-and-dance surrounding chopping down the tree only for it to actually fall, leaving everyone speechless and a permanent, unfillable hole. The whole idea of the tree "not minding" you cutting it down, only for a family of squirrels to lose everything. You created poetry in a ridiculous twenty-minute video. Ben is so proud of you.
I honestly cried. I lost a couple of my best friends this year that I've known since I was a kid. And I lost my mother over 5 years ago. Lifes not fair but having people like you to give us hope is a blessing I'm glad to have. Thank you Rhett and Link...
It's so important to keep those we love that aren't with us on this earth around in anyway we can. It's so easy to get lost in grief and forget that they'd want us to keep on, and maybe one day chop down a tree with some peanut butter. I hope everyone who's grieving remembers that their Ben is still there with them in the love they gave us to keep with us forever. It's the most precious gift to have love in this life that we feel for a lifetime, to be able to think back fondly on it. Thank you for the reminder Rhett, Link, and Ben.
Well now I’m just a sobbing mess😭 Having lost many family members (three to cancer) in the span of 9 months almost a couple years ago now, it really hit home going through that grief of watching someone fade away with out any way to help. Honestly I haven’t really worked through it so this really helped. Love you guys, thank you and thank you Ben.
Except for the last squirrel scene (by which time I was crying), I kept becoming so immersed in Rhett and Link's discussion that I forgot about the squirrels until the next squirrel scene. This was ridiculous and absolutely beautiful!
The moment of silence once the tree fell was so loud. My heart goes out to Rhett, Link, and Ben’s family. As a mother now myself, the way you two still keep Ben’s memory alive & showcase how much he still has an impact on your life makes me tear up. Ben, Rest in Peace. I hope you know how many people’s hearts you’ve touched all these years later.
The visuals here were very touching. Seeing the tree on the the ground with a small plant growing in foreground really hit me. The cinematography was really top notch. I;m really loving this series. Thank you for sharing it with us. In addition, the writing for the squirrel segments was really well done!
As a fellow Ben, Our Other Best Friend was the episode that got me into Ear Biscuits, and probably the most honest and moving thing I've ever seen on TH-cam. You guys make it clear how important he was to you and how hard confusing that time of loss was. And you've kept his memory alive. Wherever he is I'm sure he's proud he got to call you two friends.
I didnt think i would cry but when that tree fell i felt emotions coming back from when I lost my Aunt to cancer, she was very close.... Thank yall for sharing your story
To see two grown men that are my fathers age, mourn a childhood friend and carry his life on for all these years is truly beautiful. Ben is carried through so much you guys do and for just a simple viewer of years, it’s so beautiful to see. I have been loving Wonderhole, maybe this series isn’t for everyone. But I think EVERYONE can find something in at least one video. Thank you guys for doing this.
Feels like Ben is this.. mythical guardian Angel who’s always there lol. When bizarre things happen on set, while they’re filming, it’s Ben messing around. When they suddenly get a great idea and they have no idea where it came from.. Ben. Like it feels like it is a trio, we just see Rhett and link.
He was a real person not some symbol. When I die, I better not have to stick around as some sort of spirit. Will it be sad for a couple people, yes. Will I want to extend my horrible existence on this trash ball of terrible people? No. If people want that, then they are selfish. Let him rest in peace; he's gone.
I'm so happy to see an episode dedicated to Ben. I remember the Ear Biscuits you two did about him way back when, the visual of Rhett getting choked up about it still sits in my brain. How lucky he was to have the two of you, and how lucky you two were to have him. I love that his guiding hand of "just do the thing" steered the two of you into Mythical and all it's brought. Thank you for sharing that energy with all of us.
This series is the best, most important thing you guys have ever made. It’s funny, touching and thought provoking. As a fan since the days of the Velcro song, I’ve seen you try many different things over the years, some better than others, some not so great..but I’ve always enjoyed being along for the ride. But this, this show here, is something special. I’m looking forward to each new episode and hope you continue on in this style as long as you can, this show has legitimately blown away all my expectations. 10/10

This is my favorite Wonderhole video so far. Funny while still being real and emotional. We know everything when we’re young, don’t we? Bravo, gentlemen.
Rhett & Link & Ben, when I was 3 years old I was also diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. I'm 21 now and incredibly lucky to be alive after years of treatment, but I'm even more lucky to have been surrounded by my friends through it all, just like the three of you. This video, the way you talk about your friendship-- it's beautiful, it's full of so much love, and it's truly such an honor to get a window into it all. Rhett & Link, thank you for making this video, for making me cry, and for all the creative joy and wonder you bring to the world. And Ben, thank you for helping them to get here.
every time you two share stories about ben it feels like we knew him too. this video made me laugh and cry, and i think that balance is whats needed to process grief. ben was the third to one of my favorite duos, and his memory will remain with you and your fans for the rest of time. this is a wonderful and very funny way to keep his memory alive, especially since its so personal to both you two and ben himself. i know hes up in heaven laughing with you guys and i know hes proud of everything youve done.
My favorite part of these videos is finding out how it’s going to subvert my expectations with some weird unhinged thing. The squirrel family really delivered.
Your vulnerability in this is heart pulling. I think many ppl have wished those last days with a friend or loved one were different. I know I have regret in this situation. I do believe that they are still with us and know how we wish it had been different 💗😢
The Ear Biscuits episode where they detail their memories with Ben is still in the forefront of my mind weekly. The depths R&L go to to explain their emotions and reflect on how and why they acted with Ben felt like their most introspective religious experience. That they continue to include Ben in their videos heartwarming.
Beautiful piece of art to dedicate a friend. The discussions about Ben and regrets and growth are just so full of emotional maturity and it's really meaningful to see a discussion like that happen.
I'll be honest... I'm in tears. My sister died in 2000, at the age of 21. I was 18. I think back to all the memories and I'm so happy I have them, but can't believe it's been so long and all of the memories that could have been..... RIP Ben.

Mens mental health is woefully undertalked about and this type of therapy actually does something for men, well done lads!
I love that.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
i lost my best friend almost three years ago now and watching this made me realise that there’s nothing worse than looking back and thinking, “what could i have done different?” “what could i have said?” “should i have spent more time with them?” “could i have?” i can’t believe a wonderhole video is about to make me cry
Them walking away in silence after the tree fell is what finally got the tears to fall... ugh wish we could've met you Ben ♡
the shot at 0:26 with space for Ben already has me sobbing, I think this one’s going to be a somber watch
The way you honored your friend’s life while also simultaneously giving a funny drama squirrel story was perfectly executed. Rest in peanut butter Ben 🤍
The way they stood looking at the fallen tree in silence at the end made me so emotional, I'm not sure why.
because its so final. like death. their friend is gone, the tree is down. it was almost like them saying goodbye again. made me cry too.
That's the part that got me too.
Amazing.
YES
I think this absolutely made Ben smile, wherever he is. Another great episode.
You can hear the sadness in Link's voice. RIP to Ben your BFF. He's now your mythical.
Wonderful point.
I just keep thinking about how happy it must make Ben's family to hear Rhett and link keeping his memory alive all these years.
I did not expect the musical numbers.
Rhett and link specialise in something musical each episode
There will always be music ❤❤
@@melmurrayN.Z true I just meant the way they executed the song.
Angela’s rap will forever stick out, the whole thing was very Hamilton to me 😂
@@IIBeefII To me it felt quite reminiscent of Rhett and Link's old rap songs.
Their expressions at 20:26 that’s not acting, man. That’s so genuine
The small sinking of Links’ shoulders is what made me fully sob. It was a beautiful moment of excitement and remembrance all in one.
Also i imagine checking out the script made it an automatic yes.
Why am I crying at a video about two guys chopping down a tree with four tiny am-dram actors in squirrel onesies inside?!
Same same!!!
I wasn't expecting to cry as much as I did
it unexpectedly hit hard
I hated the squierrels so much
right!!!??!
I can’t believe GMM fans aren’t showing Wonderhole more love. These videos have been phenomenal. A squirrel musical?!?! Come on, what more can you ask for?
Unfortunately those are the same people who don't watch the non-food relatable episodes...
Their channel is so big now that unfortunately a lot of their viewers aren't really fans just random people that watch whatever is trending
I am a GMM fan, I love this video. I just skipped the squirrel musical parts since that just isn’t something I enjoy.
I’ve loved all the other wonderhole videos since I found them yesterday.
I watched the show mostly around my early teens but ended up watching other things over time. This series interests me a lot more now, so I'm back
TH-cam isn't recommending it to people. It took way too long for me to discover this channel
this was beautiful, you guys. i feel so moved. ive never heard of ben before today but now i also feel like hes always been a part of the mythical crew. 🕊️
What a sweet, lovely, heartbreaking tribute to your friend Ben. Brought tears to my eyes.
Can't believe they got John Krasinski to show up in a video.
This comment needs recognition 😂
I was waiting for someone to make this comment😂
Bro, this comment is only for a select group of people. The best comment I ever seen in a while!
Came here to say the same!
IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE
Ben would be so immensely proud of Rhett and Link.
12:52 the best squirrely rabid rap I ever done seen
Angela is an absolute treasure
@@jimmy_the_squid9456i love her so much 😭😂
I honestly cried. I lost a couple of my best friends this year that I've known since I was a kid. And I lost my mother over 5 years ago. Lifes not fair but having people like you to give us hope is a blessing I'm glad to have. Thank you Rhett and Link...
❤️
And we lost Thick...
Rip thick44
Randall Park is a class act.
Angela Killed this as she does anything she does!
Rest in Peace Ben.
What a great video Rhett and Link!
Except for the last squirrel scene (by which time I was crying), I kept becoming so immersed in Rhett and Link's discussion that I forgot about the squirrels until the next squirrel scene. This was ridiculous and absolutely beautiful!
If you haven't, find the Ear Biscuit episode. It's a beautiful, emotional episode that left me loving the whole friendship more.
The framing of Rhett and Link walking at :27 seconds is next level. They left a spot for Ben 💕
That’s exactly what I saw too
Ur giving me more scenes to cry about 😢
The moment of silence once the tree fell was so loud.
Thank you, Ben, for giving us Rhett and Link. They do a great job honoring you and your friendship ❤
DANIEL THRASHER THE GOAT HAS GRACED US WITH HIS PRESENCE
I didnt think i would cry but when that tree fell i felt emotions coming back from when I lost my Aunt to cancer, she was very close.... Thank yall for sharing your story
To see two grown men that are my fathers age, mourn a childhood friend and carry his life on for all these years is truly beautiful. Ben is carried through so much you guys do and for just a simple viewer of years, it’s so beautiful to see.
I have been loving Wonderhole, maybe this series isn’t for everyone. But I think EVERYONE can find something in at least one video. Thank you guys for doing this.
I never thought I see Angela Giarratana from Smosh, Daniel Thrasher, and Asian Jim in the same video. COMEDY GOLD 😂🤣
😭😭😭😭
He’s Belvedere
Here comes the ugly crying again.
100% every hijinx moment and every philosophical light bulb feels ben inspired.
I didn't think I'd be crying at a video of two men chopping down a tree with peanut butter axes but here I am
Pubescent squirrel Angela is everything to me
I'm so happy to see an episode dedicated to Ben.
A heartfelt tribute to Ben and the perfect vessel for Angela’s energy. Another win for Wonderhole!
R.I.P. Ben🙏🕊️
R.I.P.
This is definitely the most Rhett & Link & Ben video they've ever done.
I can't help but imagine what RLB would've been up to today and how Mythical would've been a trio. It still is, in spirit.
he was someone so special to you both there's a lot of love here love the message for those guys don't delay it go to a Dr. and get checked my husband has prostate cancer
RIP Ben! ❤
Also... Angela is absolute gold
She's gonna bitch slap a mouse! 😂
Had me laughing so hard 😂
Mythical and Starkid kinda just fit together I think
I love smosh, starkid and mythical crossover
Amazing video, this made meso emotional. At 17:30 im on the brink of tears amd these damn squirrels come back😭😭😭😭😭
that's literally why I opened the comments 😭😭
every time you two share stories about ben it feels like we knew him too. this video made me laugh and cry, and i think that balance is whats needed to process grief. ben was the third to one of my favorite duos, and his memory will remain with you and your fans for the rest of time. this is a wonderful and very funny way to keep his memory alive, especially since its so personal to both you two and ben himself. i know hes up in heaven laughing with you guys and i know hes proud of everything youve done.
My favorite part of these videos is finding out how it’s going to subvert my expectations with some weird unhinged thing. The squirrel family really delivered.
I feel like Angela was made for this role. Secretly she has always wanted to play a squirrel because it just fits with who she is.
Fully ready to cry.
Same here
I definitely did
Listen to the earbiscuit about him. You will.
I am crying. (Also previously listened to the ear biscuits about him.)
Ben would be so proud of you both
Everyone who worked on this is a beautiful soul and I'm honored to witness this artwork ❤️
RIP Ben.
I lost my dad 17 years ago today and this made me so happy to see. What a beautiful way to honour someone ❤️
❤
I liked that shadow-man who just stroked the tail, lol
He put the two tails into a heart lol
Angela being in this made me so happy but I was confused for a second because I was sure I didn’t click on smosh today 😂
did i just witness a tear fall from rhetts eye? these boys loved you ben and we love them you must of been on rad person R.I.P ben
RIP Ben. I know you’re so proud of your boys. I cried with this one for grief is one heck of an emotional time and I’m in it now. I know I’m not alone.
Rhett and Link, you definitely made Ben proud. I can’t imagine how hard this was for the two of you to make. Thank you for sharing. And plz men always feel your nuts. 🌰 🥜♥️
Their episode about Ben is what made me start listening to Ear Biscuits. I'm so glad to see him continuing to inspire
RIP Ben. Thank you for sharing, and continuing his legacy. ❤
