I was a boondocking van dweller for 3 years. DC fridges are worth having, when you're using solar. I advise every nomad to get on DC as much as possible, because inverters use power to convert electricity from DC to AC, and they constantly drain your batteries. On my last rig, I had DC everywhere, and I had an inverter on a cutoff switch to be able to turn it off, when I didn't need it. I cut my energy use by 20 percent, doing this, which was crucial to my AGM battery life. Keep in mind, that was nearly 20 years ago, and you're using k
Lithium, which wasn't available at a practical price, when I was a nomad. Nonetheless, using less will always save you money over time. Your rig is looking good. Enjoy the journey.

I was all set to write a comment about absorption refrigerators and you went and installed a compressor refrigerator. It will be interesting to see how much power it uses. Keep the good stuff coming.

I know youre already done with the installation, but BUTYL TAPE is your friend and the best bedding compound you can get. Its cheap too.. $7.00 for a roll at Homie Depot. It never dries out, never gets hard or brittle.. and flexes with the movement of the roof and mounting points.

Little tip on your bumper. I was always taught to put bolts in from top and nuts on bottom. If for some reason you have a nut come off, bolt could / would remain in hole and "help" keep things together until new nut replaced. Glad you got ride of propane refrigerator. There have been series of issues with fire with units. Check RV sites to make sure your new unit is up to date. Travel Safe, great job on camper...

I have a DC-DC charger on our rig also and it is a game changer. I bought a factory mounted idle/throttle controller on our diesel when we bought the vehicle new and that comes in super handy to charge up when we are parked and need to top off. The DC-DC charger (30 amp) will fully charge my batteries from 70% or so to full capacity whether we are parked at high idle or on the highway in less then an hour

The fridge looks great. Absorbtion fridges use a ton of 12v power though. Hoping your system will hold up! I think propane or AC is the way to go. Ideally 3 way is best so you can charge off the alternator while driving but then use Propane or AC while parked. I bought an AC/DC absorbtion fridge but then ended up selling it when I realized how much power it used.

We'll be serving filet of Ryobi with a serving of copper windings......Holy Conch Salad you guys are a little out of your element in the city. That must have been quite interesting to say the least. Now that you have the front bumper (armor) you just push through traffic. Hahaha
Loved the content especially the solar panels and installation, you seem to be pretty well versed on installation now. Is this the third time now? Two boats and a truck camper you're in expert!
Excellent video with excellent projects enjoyed it immensely. Looks like you almost blew a vein when you removed and carried the refrigerator out the back hatch. AKA, premium nut buster and a 1/2. (Or at least a hernia)

I can't believe that you are doing the exact opposite of when you where on Adrenaline. Here you where taking everything out possible to make it lighter and here on the truck you are adding more weight to the truck. That bumper looked super heavy when you where both lifting it. The extra weight should help keep your front tires on the road for sure...lol Loving the new series and can't wait to see more. Tom in Nova Scotia, Canada.

A neighbor of mine had an old refrigerator in his Airstream that was not cooling. He used an orbital sander (no sandpaper) and pressed it all over the inside walls of the fridge and it started working. He said it just need to let the ammonia inside free up and flow better. At least worth a try and won't have to remove it. Good luck.

Zamp loves the parallel connection, but many obsess about series parallel for the voltage hit there is.. I have a similar system on my MH and stayed with the Zamp approach, works great and I get 75-100 AH per day on 400 watts of panels, one controller all parallel.

So you probably already know this, or it's too late, but you can by-pass the 12 volt DC controls and hook up 120 volts AC directly to the element in the burner stack with a drop cord with the ends cut off and leave over night to confirm if it will cool on 120 volts AC before you try to figure out what the control problem is. I had a unit that worked fine on AC but not propane, turned out to be a clogged jet. Also I hope the two junction boxes you installed in the top of the fridge vent wont affect air flow. I would have just cut the wires and installed junction blocks and eliminated the possible future problem with air flow restriction too many connectors. Loved the new bumper....cheers.

From an old RVer........ If you find a yellowish-white residue under the fridge near the compressor, it has leaked out the ammonia and the unit is "toast". Can NOT be recharged...... If there is NO leak you can try inverting it for about 24 hours to see if it will unclog......

You don’t burp a refrigerator system and in a really small system like that charge is critical. Needs to evacuated put on a vacuum pump and have the proper charger put in it. If in fact low charge is what it is.
