Always thought a very effective martial art might be one that just uses the elbows and knees .. the strongest parts of the body when it comes to inflicting blows. Maybe some 180-degree spins, too, before using the elbows to the torso, etc. ..
Awesome video i tried some of these out with my sensei in my aikido lesson.. Do you think you could a video on punching and kicking because i know a lot of people punch differently
+Lucas Peclat If i may as an Aikido practitioner and now instructor for about 14 years Ive always looked at what arts or styles to use in stages so to speak. Like if someone approaches me in a threatening manner my plan is to put up my two handed Aikido block and proceed to do one of the circular style motion attacks until the technique goes to completion or until the threat is nolonger a problem. Im not a mma guy but (just my opinion) Im always thinking head on a swivel and staying fluid with my movement so you can survey the area (hopefully 360 degrees) for more potential threats. Also the fluid movement of Aikido allows you to not get stagnant and pause/stop which keeps you from being a stationary targer for the attacker. No offense to Mma but in my understanding its more about using strikes on one target. To me Aikido helps better when dealing with more than one threat. After surveying the area and you now for a fact its just one attacker, should he get close enough perhaps a nice choke can be applied. Hope this helps..
I especially like the second technique. The first one looks like it's a bit complicated to get all that done in a real fight (pushing the attacker's elbow down, etc.). Though that could work too: I will study it a bit more carefully
Hmm... I honestly thought elbow would make sense but not really with these applications. I just feel that using elbow in these takes more out of the technique than what the benefits could be. Aikidokas don't use elbow strikes, unless they conditioned themselves to do so they might find themselves in a nasty surprise trying to apply these techniques.
+Jacky Woowoo Don't get me wrong. Using elbow makes a lot of sense in other martial arts. However Aikido takes advantage of unbalanced the opponent. Using the elbow does not create enough distance. One miss and the fight is over. Aikidokas are not great at taking hits. We advance by taking the balance of the opponent. Unless the blow the aikidokas makes is powerful the technique will not be effective. most of these could have been done with a simple atemi. But this is only my humble opinion and only restricted to aikido trying to be something it isn't...
+Janos Molnar aikido is a concept and as every concept it needs to grow a real martial artist searches for ways how to overcome limits not how to limit himself. O.
😆 LOVE YOU, LOVE VAN DAME, JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE SAYING, ABOUT A 1/3rd OF THE TIME MATE!! DO YOU SPEAK FRENCH OR SOMETHING IN BELGIUM 🇧🇪????! JUST CURIOUS 🧐 CHEERS MATE👊🏻
Many genuises claim aikido is bull shit and useless in street fights. The Art in martial art is beautiful to look at. But in street fights, Bruce Lee's philosophy comes in. "Pick-up, use what works. If the move looks like a decoration only, put it aside".
In general, I like Aikido Flow videos. Nevertheless, the techniques displayed here of "simply" stepping to the side or stepping in and blocking with the palm or elbow simply do not work. In both scenarios, the aggressor is throwing a jab, which is far too fast of a punch to respond to in those ways. Anyone who has done serious sparring knows this.
Yes, can be used... But If you use strikes in Aikido it's Aikijujutsu, then why practice Aikido? Using strikes in Aikido will distorts all the philosophy that Morihei Ueshiba used to create Aikido.
+Renato Reis The founder studied many martial arts, and his Aikido became what it was as he got older as he adjusted it to his abilities, in younger age his practise was different. Atemi is term for distraction or strike and is used in traditional aikido. You have to adapt to the situation and if you have 3 attackers who are really trying to hurt you you might have to use more assertive way to protect. There is no one style that can offer you everything and we believe that combining knowledge and creating your own style is the way forward... people say this is or this isn't aikido .... it doesn't really matter mate. what does matter is that if you get into trouble you can do something about it.
+Renato Reis :-) I am sure you mean well mate, try not to just follow what someone else said. Absorb what suits you try and imply it in your own way. Every martial art has to expand and grow, adapt to the times we live in....
Thanks Miles, yes of course that happens but that is why training more is important no martial art is perfect is up to each individual to find their way and to adapt to any situation but that is a life long study.
you guys are awesome. very realistic and effective.
been wathcing your videos since april. not bad. i like aikido and its message. keep up the good work.
Thanks
Well done demo
You should talk about some effective finger locks. Great video and keep up the good work!
Now that i think about it, you can finish a lot of techniques with an elbow.
Thanks AikidoFlow,really good stuff !!

Good stuff.
Great video as aways, maybe sometime you guys could explain how to deal with a lapel and sleeve grab like is seen in judo.
Sure we will, thank you
can you guys do a video on how to work with movement in ikio omote and ura?
Thanks. They look very effective.
A very interesting video.
Could you make a video about Geese Howard and the Aikido? :)
Awesome video i tried some of these out with my sensei in my aikido lesson.. Do you think you could a video on punching and kicking because i know a lot of people punch differently
Yes we will look into that, thank you Ondrej
Could you guys make a videos on when to go aikido or go mma ? When it's necessary to punch and submit, I mean

Thanks Jack
when did you last see a step in punch outside a dojo ?
I would love to see how you guys do in a randori street fight sequence... can Aikido flow produce that?
Yes it is on our list thank you !

GREAT WEAPONS
Great video. Have you ever had a situation where your art was ineffective?
Yes Azu has done that video it is called when aikido failed me, check it out !
Thanks!

Can you show us how to defend our selves from a push
Yes we can look into this in one of our next videos
In a real situation, they also don't step in and time the punch for when you're ready.
Exactly but this is a demonstration ...
You time the movement, blend, and yes they step in or there is no fight. Real is not an agreed on competition that people face off.
It would be cool if you Ondrea,Azu and Jason go to Italy to see Sensi Paolo. If you don't know him search him on Google or TH-cam.
We would love to
Or truck and trailer the elbow and make it an extreme positve irimi👍
love your videos, I find them very helpful, but I think you should get a private space Like your own dojo
+Ceasar Giol thanks a lot

+Janos Molnar look into kali or filipino martial arts for elbows

dont transform aikido to karate ....or some ting else ...it has its own specification, speed , and fluidity ...keep this ..

Asd starter
Aikido with elbow strike is not Aikido.
It's whatever you say it is mate, elbow strike can be used as atemi but also to finish off your technique if you must deal with other attacker.. O.

More combat videos less music
just like karate -your basing it on a step in punch -people don't attack with a step in punch -it'll be a right or laft cross -- SO IT WON'T WORK
