    relly nice. As an Aikidoka it was easy for you with the bottle, he came at you with a shomen-uchi even if he didn't know.

    nice one azu I tell people all the time to move into them because a they're not expecting it and b if your in there centre of gravity you then have full control over the attacker

      Some situations it is the best thing to do but I hard to get your mind around it. Instinct always tells you to move back.

    Interesting. From an Aikido perspective, I would think an attack with a bottle is no different than an attack with a Tanto (a wooden practice knife) -- which is commonly practiced in many dojos. As Andre demonstrated -- an attack with a bat or a stick is comparable to practicing Jo-Tori techniques. The only think that I question about the technique that you demonstrated against the "bat" is that the attacker still had the bat at the end of the technique. I would think that you would want to disarm any attacker as part of the technique used.

    Hi aikidoflow, one question, what would you do if someone was hurling rocks or something like that extremely hard at you? How would you get past the projectiles to take them down?

    • @Tuton25
      @Tuton25 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Juiceslinger Well, in my defensive pistol training we are always taught to move forward and to the sides. Forward because it allows you to get closer to your target and its easier to see where you are going. Lateral movement makes it harder for them to track you and put shots on target. Personally I carry a Glock 19 in the appendix position so my preferred draw is a step forward and to the left.

      I would try to protect my head and zig zag towards them or if there is something I could grab to hold up in front of me to protect myself as I move in. Maybe a dustbin lid, a child or an old lady. (I sure you know that the last two was a joke).
      Azu

    Nice vid Azu.. =-) Both are nice techniques and good thinking.. Absolutely loved the elbow sandwich from the 1st one, and loved the meshing with the guys energy on the 2nd with the bat/stick simulation.Your totally correct, get in close to that stick or bat..Kinda reminded me of one of the Big 10 techniques.. Do you all have those in your system of Aikido?
    Thanks mate
    Terrence

      +Alan Freeman Azu those Big 10 techniques are on here in a video called "Qwaza Ju Pon Big Ten demonstration" by a guy named Nick Lowry.. Hes in the organization that I used to be in when learning Aikido.. Good man/good techniques. Let me know your thoughts on them..

  • @alanfreeman7374
    @alanfreeman7374 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Azu did you ever get to check out those Big 10 techniques?
    Also this is off the subject and my apologies for getting in your business but I remember you a couple weeks ago telling someone on here about your working two jobs due to having quite an amount of bills.. There is a well known financial counselor that has videos on here called Dave Ramsey.. It couldnt hurt to check out his videos to see if any of his ideas pertain to your situation.. Ive been listening to him for over 10 yrs.. His ideas has helped me loads..

    • @Aikidoflow
      @Aikidoflow  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Alan Freeman Just watched it. We do have these in our system but we have adapted some of them to try to make them more practical. We have added punches and elbows to a lot of them. We do practise them in the traditional form first but we then escalate the attacks.Azu.

    Are baseball bats all that common in the UK? In North America, they are, because people actually play baseball. Are assaults with cricket bats a thing in the UK?

    • @jaygauld85
      @jaygauld85 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! Funnily enough, cricket bats arent used as much as baseball bats in assaults here in UK. They're sold in sport shops over here but no-one plays it!?? Its usually gangs or drug dealers that use them against each other as well as other weapons.
