I know I am late, but thank you very much for this awesome cover! It is my favourite bassline ever! I have learned this song by watching you and you play very well! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, much appreciated! At the time I was using steel strings 40-100, but IMHO more important than the coating material is string age. I recall I recorded this video a couple of days after putting new strings on. The track requires a lot of brightness and top end, which is then shaped by the effect pedals.
Thanks a lot! At the time I was using a Line 6 HX effects with the following effects chain: compressor, octaver and chorus. On the central part of the song no octaver and a little bit of delay for ambience.
@@luke_bass91 Thanks for your answer, I'm also fan of your cover of "On the turning away" Congratulation Will you try "What do you want from me" and the solo of Money in the live in Venice (1989) ?
@@chrisdenice9352 thanks a lot! I had in mind doing "What do you want from me" sometimes, I think I'll make a video about it. Regarding the solo on Money, the Venice one is quite complicated; I've learned a couple of years ago but I was not satisfied with the result. The version I usually play is a mix between the one in Venice and on Delicate Sound of thunder. Maybe I'll make a video! Thanks for the support and the suggestions
Yes, Tony Levin is credited on the album, even though it doesn't sound like a real bass to me, rather a synth bass. To me Guy Pratt took the bassline to another level on the live version.
In the studio version, David Gilmour played the bassline on a bass synth. On this particular version, Guy Pratt played it with a Spector NS2 with an Boss OC2 octave pedal engaged and a ton of compression.

Absolutely excellent. Great tone. Thanks for using the octive pedal. Which one did u use ?

Did Tony Levin play the original bass line on A Momentary Lapse Of Reason?

I want to know… is the bass in the song an actual bass or a keyboard cause it sounds like a keyboard to me in the song
In the studio version, David Gilmour played the bassline on a bass synth.
On this particular version, Guy Pratt played it with a Spector NS2 with an Boss OC2 octave pedal engaged and a ton of compression.
Ugh, 3:20 in the video I linked...
Amazing how you got the slap sound without slapping???
Thanks! You've just to hit the strings a little bit harder to have a slight fret buzz.
Nice!
Thank you!
