BMW 118d E87 boot not opening from handle... Fault finding and repair.

This car came to me due to an issue with the boot lid.
The boot was opening as it should from the remote key fob, but not opening from the handle...
A bit of dismantling and problem found!...
But, can it be fixed with no parts required?

Love those repairs, i repaired toilet flushing mechanism, where pushing button had broken weak plastic part. Reinforced it with some hard wires and soldering gun, glued it, still works better than new.

VW has same setup, and same problems. I wouldn't be surprised if handle is made by same company
