It’s surreal seeing this video so many years later … I directed this video back in the mid 90s. It was actually part of a hour long show … what an amazing voice!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
The most beautiful song every written for the glory of God! Twila is an excellent songwriter, one of a kind, so greatly needed today. We have to revive these incredible songs! Thank you Twila
Does anyone write beautiful songs, anymore? This is just as good as it was over twenty years ago, but now it's more precious. Beauty is rare. We thirst for beauty. The whole world does.
MisterMikeIn3D ; there's a young lady named Audrey Assud whose music is beautiful and amazing, on par with and in harmony with God's Spirit. Might I humbly suggest !
That’s because Beauty rises from Truth and Goodness, both of which originate and find Perfect Expression...in God. Our world doesn’t want to hear this. That’s why Jesus calls us to be salt for the earth, Light for he world, and blessings to those our lives touch. More important in 2020 than ever.
When I accepted the Lord as my Savior and came across this songs I couldn't control myself when I sung it, it elevated my spirit to the maximum l drown in the love of Christ that all I can do was to cry cry and cry because of love l felt from the thrown
I woke up with this song in my sprit from years ago. God is reminding us that Jesus was beautiful in his service to others and his sacrifice to give up his life for us on that cross and that as we lay down our lives in service to others so that they can know God, that we are beautiful as his body .
This song must have come out in 1990, because it came on K-Love radio when i was driving, and i started crying in the car. My wife and i asked my sister to sing this song in our wedding. 😊
I was so surprised when I heard this song, because I've heard this song somewhere before, but I don't remember where. It's awesome & Twila sings it so beautifully. hearing this lovely song has really added something special to my morning. God bless, thank you so much.
Thanks for the information. Not long ago I came across a very enchanting song. Since I love Celtic music as well, I got entranced by Eden's Bridge I wanted my friend/ Music Director to hear it. Never got the chance (my mini recorder broke.) Came across Twila's version. Bought the music & lyrics & that song is the Lamb Of God which we will sing in church for special music next month.
Did this song this last year at one of the summer cmaps I hlep out at regularly. God refreshed me with this song and it sounded great with the male vocal for a change.
i had the honor of singing it before too at church. i just can't believe it, having lost my voice now :(. it is a truly magnificent song glorifying our King. praise you, LORD JESUS!
hi my name is sierra from tampa and me and a other person Is sing this song in church this sunday.......We love this song and how it touched us so much that how beautiful every thang really is so god bless u and the writer tooo.......sierra hill tampa florida
Well, I'm glad you agree MizzKitty and rokafela. I wrote my comment year ago because God spoke to me through this song. He showed my congregation having communion and I saw my brothers and sisters so beautiful in Jesus, although we are incomplete in many ways. Pardon my poor English - It's not my native language. God bless you both.
Lighten up. The Lord Jesus compares his relationship to his Church, in terms of a relationship between a bride and a groom. This song reflects that perfectly. How Beautiful indeed that someone is including Christ Jesus in their wedding at all, as they "lay down their lives" for each other. Maybe if more of us truly kept Him in their marriages, (MYSELF, DEFINITELY INCLUDED) divorce lawyers wouldn't be thriving. I've been a musician in my Catholic church for nearly 30 years, and would have no problem with this wonderful piece of music, and would recommend it! God and his angels rejoice when we invite Him to our celebrations!
Amen! Indeed, Jesus' first miracle in the gospel of John as I recall, occurred when He attended a wedding at Cana and turned water into wine. We would be wise to not only invite our Lord Jesus to our weddings but to be the center and foundation of our marriage itself.
How beautiful / when humble hearts give The fruit of pure lives / so that others may live The first "Frozen" movie brought me here (Anna freezes and saves Elsa). The second one brought me back (Anna nearly falls to death to break the dam).
Beautiful song. I think she means it to be interpreted both ways. The first part is about Jesus Himself and the second part is about us. As Christians we are "works in progress." Becoming more like Him every day as we serve God and each other.
"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it" (1 Corinthians 12:27) Brothers and Sisters in Christ: whoever, where ever you are, You are beautiful!
I heard an Spanish version of that music which was sung by Steve Green and another singer whose name I dont know...I have searched it but I couldn't find it yet.
That's right. Without Jesus, the Church is nothing. It is therefore the relationship between Christ and the Church that is beautiful and all human relationships within the Church should be just as beautiful. Of course, the mission of the Church should be to reach out to others outside of the Church so that they too can become part of what Christ has established for us.
Thanks MizzkittyBichon for this apt comment. But notice that there are millions if not billions people who belong the Church of Christ even when they are not fully incorporated in the body for various reasons. Some have not known about Christ, or they have been put off by the institutional Church and her ways of doing things. Even these people whom Karl Rahner called "Anonymous Christians"( for lack of a better word) are part of the body of Christ--the cosmic Christ who operates outside the institutional church model. Those who serve their neighbor, build a better world, etc. And you make a good conclusion that the mission of the Church is to reach out to those not yet incorporated into the life of the Church. One way by which the church reaches out to those others, is through what is now called interreligious dialogue. Twila Paris may not have known this other aspect of the beauty of the body of Christ, but from her message, it is clear she would fully agree that body of Christ is like a rainbow-a blend of many colors reflecting the complex and diverse shades of beauty.
I agree with what you are saying. The only part of the song that seems puzzling is where she says, "How beautiful are the hands that served the wine and the bread and the sons of the earth. How beautiful are the feet that walked the long dusty road, and the hill to the cross." If she is taking this symbol and referring it to the church, then it seems like she is attributing the sacrifice of Christ to the church. Anyway, my point is, lets exalt Christ (the object of worship), not the bride.
Ok. I think i now get your point. The beauty of the church is derived from its Lord, and not inherent of itself. In itself, it is nothing, it is the same as the pagan heathens, but in her Lord, it is beautiful. But we have to remember that she is beautiful only when she is abiding in her Lord.
Sir...god would like to have you as His own. "Jesus said - "Behold, I stand at the door and knock...If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
A lot of the missionaries who have "beat Jesus into the indigenous population" weren't really acting Christlike, especially in past centuries. But Jesus did teach people to spread the gospel in a kind and compassionate manner to EVERYBODY. That means ALL peoples and nations.
The song says "How beautiful is the body of Christ." The body of Christ would be the Church. So both Christ and the Church are beautiful. Another thing: the Church is a part of Christ because it is his body and he is her head. Therefore, the song is also about how we are all one in Christ. That is the beauty of Christ (and his Church), I believe.
She is not referring to Christ's church (although it too is the body of Christ), but she is referring to Christ Himself. He is beautiful. "How beautiful are the hands that served the wine and the bread and the sons of the earth. How beautiful are the feet that walked the long dusty road, and the hill to the cross. "Indeed, He is wonderful, the desire of ages.
The first verse is referring to Christ/God because if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have the Church. The Church came from Christ just as Eve came from Adam. In other words, Christ is the originator of the Church.
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life...but whoever rejects the Son will not see life...for God's wrath remains on him." "He who has the Son has life...he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." " Jesus declared..."I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
Dear sister, I cry for you. I fear you miss the beauty in this used in a wedding. i sense a lot anger/hurt in you. I ache for you. I understand--I think. Rest in His inexplicable love. // He will judge. It is not your charge, my dear.
No...it does not mean Jesus is not God. Jesus is God. I musta missed that one Mr josh-josh-eagle-eye. I may have missed one point but... "Jesus said..." "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."
If she is indeed referring to the church itself, then she is wrong, because the church is not yet beautiful, its Christ, the husband, alone, who is beautiful. So im faced with 2 choices, i either stop listening to this song because of its wrong theology, or i force my mind to conclude that she is referring to Christ and not the church. Furthermore, we are not to praise the church, but Christ alone. He, as God, is the object of praise. Good thing this is not the only christian song in the world.
The theology of this beautiful song is solid and accurate. Both the bride and the bridegroom are beautiful. But of course we all know that this is analogy using the metaphor of marriage. The church is both human and divine. Being human she has some dark spots and is indeed sinful, while Chris the head is holy and sinless. Beauty does not deny some defects. A beautiful shirt or dress can always have some dirty spots. Then the song speaks of the feet that spread the good news, serving others, suffering on the cross as Jesus did. The song is indeed a jem of simple theology well articulated poetically. Twila Paris is indeed an inspiring musician who will continue to inspire millions through her lovely Gospel music.
You spelled god with a small ''g'' like I would! But you spelled jesus with a big "J" .Does that mean you like jesus more that god. Blessed are the cheese makers! Jesus said that also.

Lord 🙏🙏🙏 please help us in this pandemic please heal our planet to this pandemic
Fancy.
Actually, she does talk about the church in this song. For example, the "bride" is a symbol of the Church waiting for Christ (the "groom").
Is the Vince Gill singing harmony in this video?
I agree with what you are saying. The only part of the song that seems puzzling is where she says, "How beautiful are the hands that served the wine and the bread and the sons of the earth. Romans 10:13-17
Josh josh eagle eye.....I like that!
A lot of the missionaries who have "beat Jesus into the indigenous population" weren't really acting Christlike, especially in past centuries.
But Jesus did teach people to spread the gospel in a kind and compassionate manner to EVERYBODY. That means ALL peoples and nations.
I don't think Jesus wanted anyone to beat anyone into submission. It's always been about free will. Nice song.
Does anyone know if Twila is a Catholic?
The song says "How beautiful is the body of Christ." The body of Christ would be the Church. So both Christ and the Church are beautiful.
