The total runtime of all the collective TH-cam reviews I've watched of this movie add up to be far longer than the movie itself. So, in a strange way, this movie has provided an incredible amount if entertainment for me, despite my NEVER HAVING SEEN IT.
Well, Fantastic Four (2005) came out one month after Batman Begins (2005), so yeah... the time was too early for BB (but to be fair, FF is average and mostly harmless and not WTF were they thinking)
I love Constantine. The only thing wrong with it is the fact it's called Constantine; if it'd been a new IP, it would have been much better received. Most of the criticism was down to the fact that John Constantine the character bore no resemblance whatsoever to the one in the movie. But overall it was great fun - and Tilda Swinton, as so often the case, was some perfect movie-stealing casting as well.
A _Constantine_ clip so shortly after a _Night Watch_ reference? What a wild underrated movie nostalgia bump for this proud/sad millennial! I will say, I wasn't at all familiar with the character when I first watched the movie, but I've got a lot more of both under my belt since then and I agree with you. I think the flick has a *lot* going for it if you can get past the "source material" hurdle.
I love Constantine and I read the book adaptation I loved it. But I was also 14. I haven't been back to it in about 15 years so I'm excited for next weeks COG
Yeah think it’s a really good movie, there is a dc animated Constantine movie that is actually accurate to the character and is pretty gruesome in places. But yeah the live action film is awesome for a 2000s supernatural thriller. Except Shia Labeouf as the random sidekick character but Tilda Swinton. And Peter Stormare steal it for me. Also second best Keane Reeves clears out a lobby full of baddies after the matrix.
Constantine is actually a pretty good movie, though not a very good adaptation of the character or comic. (it's probably a blessing that Keanu is not trying to do a British accent)
For some reason, showing the visual of Yoda on Luke’s back with the audio of Mason saying “get off our backs” made me laugh way harder than it should’ve
Halle Berry immediately gained back my respect after this performance for not only showing up to the razzies(most actors take it as a huge slight and don't attend), but for giving a hilariously over the top emotional acceptance speech. She doesn't seem like she has an inflated ego and just took it in stride
That's pretty respectable, never taking yourself too seriously. This didn't derail her career either. Maybe it took bump on the round but she did well after this movie.
I think it's also easier to do in the same year you're nominated for Best Actress as well. It gives you the confidence to be able to play with the silliness of the Razzies.
I’m laughing because I realize that I’ve worked with this Pitof character before, and not once did anyone mention that he had done this movie - was completely unaware it was him - now I see why! 😂
I remember being a kid and loving DC and Batman and being so confused when I saw this movie. I was so excited for it that I couldn’t admit that I didn’t like it until later. 😂 same thing happened when I saw Daredevil, he was my favorite superhero and I couldn’t admit the movie was bad because I didn’t want it to be.
It’s unbelievably confusing. How do the producers of films like catwoman go from “catwoman is an antihero cat burglar who sometimes has relations with Batman.” to “let’s make Halle Barry a magical, literal cat lady who receives the power and abilities of cats to fight crime”. What were they thinking?!
The feline inquisition is kind of a real thing - in the 12th and 13th century there was a witchcraft panic in Europe that centered on cats, causing many to be killed. There's speculation that culling the cats worsened the Black Plague, which was able to spread through unchecked rat populations. Moral of the story, don't be a cat racist. 🐈⬛
I tried watching Catwoman once. It’s one of the few times in my life I gave up and refused to finish a movie. Since then I’ve considered it and Elektra (another movie I couldn’t finish) the worst superhero movies. On another note since you did the first Swamp Thing movie you should watch it’s sequel the Return of Swamp Thing. You could try and watch the first Wonder Woman TV movie; before the Lynda Carter version. And if you’re feeling really bold the two Legends of the Superheroes specials. They’re not movies but they are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to live action DC stuff. But it does have Adam West and Burt Ward in it. Underneath the barrel though is the tv version of the Superman musical.
@@HappyCynic My research determined that I was able to actually finish Steel which is incredibly mediocre compared to the full on in your face bad of Catwoman.
I saw Elektra in theaters and even though I was young as hell, I knew I was watching trash. The only thing that sticks in my memory about that film is the same thing as the horrible ghost rider movie. They both set up somewhat interesting enemies for the hero to fight.. and then they just kill them immediately with no tension. I think Elektra had a villian with tattoos of animals that he could transform into spirits and use them in battle or surveillance type stuff, and that was interesting and a unique look of a character, and then I think she just stabs him in half a second. Elektra and ghost rider are like "blue balls: the movie"

My fiancé loves Constantine. I now watch it regularly and really isn’t that bad. When you said DC graveyard I immediately was like oh yes, they’re doing Constantine. Can’t wait. Love you guys. ♥️
I hope you do Jonah Hex in the future - it's a forgotten gem of trash that stands unparalleled in terms of its own nothingness. Also Michael Fassbender is in it!
I think they went that weird cosmetics crime route because it's vaguely similar to Catwoman's only character trait in BTAS, which is that she commits crime to fight for animal rights.
Watching the last twilight caravan of garbage, when you guys said “we’re doing Catwoman” my first thought was “oh my god, imagine” and then I scrolled down and saw this video and this is now my favorite TH-cam channel ever.
Awesome review/recap guys. Hard to imaging this movie coming out right before Spider Man 2 and less than a year before Batman Begins. Movies are weird/awesome!
I think it says more about what roles she or her peers are offered. Women just aren't given the lead in 100M action movies very often, it's not her fault they decided to hire a guy who intentionally didn't want to make a good movie for some reason. When you look at all the hoops Charlize Theron had to jump through to get Atomic Blonde made, it's pretty crazy, she basically had to get it funded herself. I think the options are, she takes the movies with good paydays to feed her bank account (but to her credit, she does give her all in even the real bad movies, she definitely doesn't mail it in), then she does smaller movies that interest her.
I'm absolutely dying of laughter & joy from you bois giving this film a proper licking...maso's "can we make another daredevil but stranger & hornier"😆.

This is one of my two favorite bad movies of all time, along with Jack Frost (and I don't mean the Michael Keaton one). After Catwoman in Batman Forever got licked back to life I didn't think it was possible to have a dumber origin, but like a magic cat this movie breathed life back into Patiance Phillips as well as my understanding of how stupid something can be. I want to give a special shout out to my favorite scene, in which a group of street toughs are having a party so loud, in the middle of a city, in a building across the street, that Patiance Phillips is unable to sleep. So she goes over there and uses her magical cat powers to jump up on a bar that's about waist height, something only somone with magical cat powers could ever possibly do as evidence by everybody at the party being so stunned they all gasp and take a step backwards. Then she uses her magical cat powers to spray them all with the nozzle on the keg, knocking them all backwards and defeating them forever. None of those people will ever party again, thanks to the magical cat powers of Patiance Phillips. Amazing stuff. Anyway, congradulations on watching an actually good movie next week, you guys desesrve it.
The thing I remember about this movie is that it was shortly after Halle Berry had quit doing Storm saying, roughly, that she was too good for them. I mean, probably, yeah, but wow, how did this happen?! Oh, and how she orders a White Russian, hold the vodka and ice, to get a glass of cream. That was pretty good too.
There’s still kahlua in it, so she would have still gotten that coffee liqueur. But the fact it was supposed to just be creamer/milk means they didn’t do that like correctly. Should be “White Russian hold the vodka, ice and kahlua”
Great content as always, boys. However, in this episode it just reminded me of the disposable garbage we got in the mid 2000's 😂Horrible time for movies and music.
Technically the last glimpse of the burtonverse was in 2017 the Lego batman movie where Billy dee Williams had a cameo as two face Also Zoe kravitz was catwoman in that film 😂😂
Oh my god I’m so glad we’re finally getting Constantine, I’m sure they’ll say this but way more people would have liked that movie if it wasn’t called Constantine
Why do I feel like they already made a video on this? I’ve heard them make so many jokes about Catwoman 2004, that retrospectively I just assumed I’d heard them all in a Catwoman video from CoG
I'm surprised you guys haven't covered Kangaroo Jack in this series yet🤣 it may be the single greatest movie ever filmed in Australia. Then again, probably not. OR IS IT?! You guys gotta find out I guys🤷🏼♂️
Constantine's actually a lot of fun on a rewatch. Sure, lots you can criticize, but infinitely better than this. I think the world's ready for another shot at Catwoman, though. Zoe's amazing in the role.

*Batman Returns
Jack Frost the horror movie? SOOO wild!
You should definitly do Jonah Hex for this series. I would love to see your thoughts on it
2:13 Missed opportunity to use the clip from the Harley Quinn cartoon where Tim Burton is dating Catwoman
Was not ready for a Walking Tall reference in a Catwoman video. Incredible
Thank God, they finally did Batman Begins
Ayyyyyyyyy, Constantine! Actually shockingly good!
Seeing her in these clips makes me realize that Berry could've been a *great* Catwoman, if the material was better. (Also she's adorable.)
She quit doing Storm and then returned for X-Men 3?
Look, I didn't say I have a good memory
You guys make the best videos on TH-cam. Fantastic editing. Best jokes ever.
Great content as always, boys. However, in this episode it just reminded me of the disposable garbage we got in the mid 2000's 😂Horrible time for movies and music.
How many people were so on the fence about seeing The Batman, and yet it's easily one of the best films I've ever seen
Technically the last glimpse of the burtonverse was in 2017 the Lego batman movie where Billy dee Williams had a cameo as two face
Also Zoe kravitz was catwoman in that film 😂😂
Nice going, whoever decided *this* was the Catwoman we needed.
Oh my god I’m so glad we’re finally getting Constantine, I’m sure they’ll say this but way more people would have liked that movie if it wasn’t called Constantine
I really like Constantine. And i read the comics. The film is really similar to End Of Days.
You guys are the best, no other movie commentary pod cast is as funny as you all
+10 for Mason's trimmed beard in this one. Well, -10 for Mason's beard-based super powers, but + 10 for the inclusion.
Constantine's actually a lot of fun on a rewatch. Sure, lots you can criticize, but infinitely better than this. I think the world's ready for another shot at Catwoman, though. Zoe's amazing in the role.
Over the course of 5 years ive slowly listened to these guys lose their sanity for our entertainment
The goddamn gadget show clips! I love whoever is editting this one!
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would make the perfect Catwoman. Not some weird political statement - I just think that would be a very interesting film.
He did make an excellent Tooth Fairy
Never saw Catwoman. The Kitty Cam has generated a lot more goodwill towards it than I anticipated.
The irony is that Halle Berry is a good actress. This could have been a great movie. I hope that she got a good paycheck for this one.
18:44 The gunshot headbutt is incredible
Constantine is a great movie
0:42 2004???
This came out the year before Batman Begins?? No excuses, not even the era, for why this was such a trainwreck.
This isn’t Batman Begins.
10:32 Masons audition for either JFK or Mayor Quimby.
