In this video my (China) adoptive mom reacts to Myka Stauffer "rehoming" / "returning" her adopted son, Huxley. I made a video on this and it gained a lot of attention, and many of you wanted to know my Mom's thoughts, so I decided to make this video last minute tonight, hence why it's up super late. This will probably be my last video on the subject of Huxley, Myka, and James Stauffer. the fact that they sent him to bed early so that their “real children” could have mommy and daddy time is so sick and twisted and broke my heart so much he deserves better and i hope he gets it in his new home

@@sheenaalexis8710 to be honest, this is inconsequential to me because you aren’t negatively affecting other people or damaging other people for a lifetime by hastily getting married. When you treat an adoption like an experience, you completely disregard that child’s humanity and place them subpar to children who have biological families they are able to be with. It’s just on an entirely different level than making a choice which only impacts the two people involved.

Also fertile people need to stop pushing adoption on everyone who’s infertile. Adoption isn’t right for everyone. Don’t tell someone with infertility to just go adopt. It’s offensive for one and not right to invade in others choices,
@@jayhope3701 I see where you're coming from, but here's my take on it since being educated on what had happened to me, the following didn't happen to me (luckily) but it's common: this whole thing of "hey I just met you and this is crazy, so here's my number and let's get married" is a common tactic of narcissists. The impact on your life goes from "damn, married and divorced in the same year is def something" to "I lost all my money, my house, my car, my family, my friends and now I'm left with nothing but, cptsd, anxiety and crippling depression" it can def fck up your life 😬

Honestly, I don't like the way people say they "adopt" a dog or some other pet. It's just really weird to use that word, no matter how committed you are or how much you care it's not an adoption.

Yeah, I immediately think "we're not talking about a dog here!" My dog was re-homed to me! And I'm sorry, I love my dog and all, but people are different from dogs! I will absolutely make sure my dog's needs are met before my own because I made the commitment to care for her. But my nieces and nephews come before the dog if they need something from me, and they're not even my kids!
It's awful isn't it. Sounds as if he's basically a dog to them when they use that word. As if "rehoming" sounds any better. That poor boy deserves so much better. I hope someone worth their salt with genuine love to give him cares for him by now. My heart breaks for him.

My aunt and uncle took in a child who the adopted by a couple who spoiled her to the point those parents sent her back to Holts. Holts contacted my aunt and uncle. She joined our family when she was ten or so! She has been such a blessing to our family and is now a healthy grandmother. I wonder if having a baby plus a special needs child took her over the edge. We, also, adopted a seven year from Korea through Holts and we were told by our case worker that she had emotional needs and discouraged us from adopting her. It could of turned out really bad, but God had was with us and she is the joy of my life. His mouth is really deformed from sucking his thumb. I can see why they were concerned!

The parents seem like total narcissists. One thing that doesn’t thrill me is that like NOONE is talking about the dad at all, he is a parents too and also decided to abandon his child.
From what I heard when this all started, he was a big part of the reason *why* they ended up abandoning the little boy

Exactly I hate people only criticize the mother but never seem to mention the father, who was horrible two. In a two parents household, parenting is done by both, their mistakes is from both not only from the mother
Some experts watched the videos and spoke about the situation and the general consensus is that Myka is a raging narcissist, but as you pointed out, much less is said about the dad. She is the more vocal of the two by far, as well as the one who's shoved her foot down her throat at every possible opportunity since the very beginning. It's just so much easier for everybody to hate somebody who is so blatantly hateable. Mr spineless kinda fades in to the background, but it's implied that he is also a dirtbag.

yes! she posted in a facebook group about how her adopted son used to stare at everyone while they ate dinner and it drove her husband nuts! he’s fucking ridiculous and also not a good person!!!! this poor child must have so much trauma and for her husband to have a problem with his son watching him eat? bullshit
Yes, it certainly was both of them, but in fairness to Jim, he was the one who did the most for Huxley and certainly the parent he preferred!
I was adopted from Russia when I was four and my parents thought I was healthy when they adopted me but I later developed severe mental health disorders. By the time I was five I’d been diagnosed with severe OCD, anxiety, and PTSD. I would shut down and rock back and forth for hours, I would scream when people I didn’t know touched me, I would have meltdowns if my compulsions were interrupted. Never ONCE did they think about giving me back. Despite the fact that they weren’t expecting the difficulties that they faced with me, they took it all in stride because I am their child. I’m not returnable and neither is Huxley. Imagining the issues that that family probably gave that poor boy is so distressing. Absolutely sickening.

hi Hannah! i was adopted from russia in 1997 as well. i had similar issues and i also had social setbacks, which led to extreme anxiety later on. i had a similar experience with my adoptive parents. i have a biological brother, and thankfully our relationship is great as well. my parents made it clear that they knew i was their daughter from the moment they saw me. nothing could change that. so to me, the stauffer situation is unimaginable. i’m so sorry to hear about your mental health issues and i really hope you have the support you need! ❤️
The Stauffer were so sad about Huxley that they went to Bali 🙄

They probably felt they deserved the treat after dealing with the stress of raising Huxley and the "trauma" of "rehoming" him.
Alana Boo yeh I think that’s only because people have been commenting her to take down anything to do with him so she stops getting views and profiting, finally she’s done something in his best interest but he will be online forever and he will find clips I’m sure when he gets older

SusieW Sadly, once something is on the internet, it’s always on the internet. Nothing can ever be permanently deleted. Huxley’s “story” will always be permanently on the internet, and unfortunately he will inevitably have to face that someday. My hope is that he finds a genuine loving home, with parents who are able to show him that he is worthy of unconditional love, and who will build him up and prepare him for the pain that he will someday feel when he comes across his story online. His rights to privacy for his own life story have been completely stripped and robbed from him by the Stauffers. One of the many things they have done to ensure further damage and trauma to that poor sweet little innocent boy. God bless him. 💕

In the UK if you have birth kids and want to adopt, you have to have quite a big age gap with your birth kids being older and more independent before you can adopt so that the adopted kid can get the attention it needs and doesn't have to compete with the birth kids. The Shauffers had a birth son almost the same age as Huxley and the had a new born baby in the last year, so wrong.
I think this is what the professionals meant when they advised the Shauffers to not adopt him because they knew he would need 1:1 attention and probably to be the only child in the home. Myka ignored all of this advice, but I also blame the Chinese adoption agency, they should not have placed him with them and three birth kids so close in age.

@@jmk1962 I agree. I guess they were approved because they were affluent and could afford extra help if they needed it. I can't think of any other reason an agency would send a baby halfway across the world if there was a possibility he'd be overshadowed by bio kids.
Myka uses the weirdest language when referring to Huxley, like "rehomed, former child, etc" and it just sounds like she's talking about a dog which just really shows how she felt about him
What I've learnt over the years is that Americans see autistic people as animals
I love my dogs as my own children and would go homeless before ever giving them up. She talked about him like a broken appliance.
And that is only half of my justification for my F*ck America mentality I might have in a fit of rage. I’m just grateful that I was able to find an understanding environment, within the country somehow.

Yes! Her mom is very woke lol. As loving as many people are they try to explain that love by saying “I don’t see color” and in an effort to show that love they are being dismissive of it. I love that her mom wasn’t like “oh we loved her so much we didn’t see color” Nah, she’s like we loved her so much we considered who she was and the fact that she was culturally in a whole different environment. They acknowledged it but didn’t treat her differently . I appreciated that

Dismissing race in an interracial adoption does a disservice to the child. Too many parents with good intentions dismiss and... I would hope it’s something that would be counselled on at the beginning of the adoption process. For an interracial adoption it’s inevitable someone will point out race and parents who didn’t grow up with the tools to talk to their child on race really need guidance as... any POC household, they gonna talk about race, because they HAVE to. It’s literally a survival tool for a raciallized group. I have so many white parents not understanding they can’t side step the issue because they didn’t have the tools or simply know enough about race to know it MUST be addressed for a growing child. Children get the tools on how to cope with race issues from their parents. To this TH-camr (I found your video through suggested videos), your mother is absolutely awesome. Truly. 💕💕💕 She is a treasure.

I have a 1 and a half year old and yes I gave birth to him but still I could never even THINK of getting rid of him. I've spent too much time with him. I cant imagine how much love I'll have for him when he's 3.

I'm adopted from Korea. It was never a secret from me, my parents told me as soon as I could understand and let me know it didn't mean they loved me any less. Both my parents are white, and we grew up in Colorado, where it's primarily and all white all Christian community (at least in the town we were in) and man, my parents couldn't go anywhere without someone commenting on why they were "failures" for not being able to have a biological child, and how it was morally wrong for them to not have a white baby. My brother is also adopted but he's adopted from a Colorado and is white as well. Growing up, I always got the "oh so he's the real son the right?" And when I mention he's adopted to, they always ask if we were adopted from the same family, and I never knew if I should laugh or cry and that. My parents spend years fighting for me and spend so much money, I can't imagine giving up a child, let alone a child you fought so hard for, just to give up so easily. Family doesn't always start in blood. We now live in Hawaii, and its funny cause no one gives us a second glance when I introduce my mom.

@@rynnmedia oh! Very close actually! We grew up in Greeley, its about 15-30 min away from Ft Collins if I remember correctly. We went to Trinity Lurthen which was a Church as well as a school.

Funny story, while I knew I was adopted and I'd hear the whispers, I never understood what other races where until someone called me a Chi**k and my mom went ballistic and she had to explain to me about it. I awlays assumed I didn't look like my parents because I was adopted, not because we were a different race, i just saw the as my mom and dad and since mommy didn't give birth to me thats why we look so different. my parents always just taught me people are people and you treat everyone the same, so it was a hard term to grasp as a child on why people judge people based on their colour of their skin tbh. Plus my mom also taught me the importance of my Korean Heritage as well, and taught me my own culture and even offered to take me to Korea or awnser any questions about my birth parents. I never did have any desire to. As far as I was concerned my real parents where them and I wasnt missing anything if they choose to give me up. Its absolutely wild to think someone could so easy give up a child they adopted because of a few problems, and then vocally say they want to adopt again. Thats wild
I'm a child welfare social worker and I just found out about this whole mykka stauffer thing and it just fills me with so much rage. You want to know what the truth is? There are a surprising amount of children in the child welfare departments who are from failed or broken adoptions. So many people love the idea of being an adopted parent and then when they realize that these children come from difficult backgrounds that come with trauma and attachment difficulties they start acting like they might as well have picked up a broken vacuum cleaner. Too many damn times I have to sit there and fill out paper work for a new dependent child because their adoptive families couldn't stomach having to deal with the fact that a child, even a new born, is going to have emotional trauma connected with the fact that they are adopted and it's going to take a LOT OF WORK. And I have to sit there, and smile, and wait until after work to cry for these poor fucking children who are now being retraumatized for a second time being told that they weren't good enough for their "family".
Kudos to you and your mother. I would love for your mother to have more opportunities to speak to other potential adopting parents because she said it best "once you take that child in your home, there should be no question that that child is yours, for better or for ill you love them". Reading your comment made me cry. It's such an added, unnecessary, and easily avoidable cruelty to these children who did nothing wrong and don't deserve it. They're no less than any other kid who lives with a family, and yet they grow up feeling forever inferior because they "weren't good enough." This situation is so heartbreaking . I hope that baby has a happy home where he is. Can't stop thinking of him.
I think it was confirmed he is somewhere in the foster system so someone is taking care of him. It's a fact though that children can 'disappear' in terms of records when they are in the foster system, it's a mess.
In the beginning I was so FURIOUS that a rich white-savior lady thought she could just “pick up a kid” and decide “oh I don’t want it anymore, I’m done” and that’s it. No strings attached, no one bats an eye, not my problem anymore.
Now, all I can think of is: THANK GOODNESS she gave him away to someone who *genuinely* loves H. and is willing to put their time and energy to make his life better instead of pretending it’s all sunshine and daisies. Even if H. had “more issues than disclosed”, it’s our job as parents to simply roll with the punches. Parenting isn’t conditional where, if a child doesn’t tick all the boxes YOU want them to tick, you can simply “pass it on to the next person” but sometimes I think: maybe this is for the best. Maybe now H. is genuinely happy, thriving and has the therapy he requires.

I am so mad that they “rehomed” him. It pisses me off. But then again, I Pray that it was for the best and that he is better off without them. Obviously they didn’t care about him and didn’t love him how they should have.

They literally chose to "rehome" him like an unwanted animal (not through official adoption agency channels I might add so he could be with any random family, not one that is held to the rigorous standards of an legal agency) because he didn't fit in with their lifestyle and having to care for him was inconvenient. They went on a lavish vacation after, again by choice, giving away their CHILD. They clearly couldn't wait to be rid of him, as a vacation like that would have been much harder with a special needs child. The only part of this that is unfair is the damage this will do to Huxley, he didn't asked to be adopted by two money grubbing clout seeking self obsessed "parents". They never loved that child, they loved the money, internet fame, status and sympathy that he got them. Also its "their heart" not "there"
They just didn't love him. Simple as that. Had they loved him, none of it would've mattered to them. They would've done everything to help him and raise him. It's so sad.
This isn’t true. I know of a mother who had to adopt away her daughter because the little girls disabilities was to expensive, to time consuming (she was a single mother and had to work) and it broke her heart but it was for the baby’s best. They still see each other every month but doesn’t mean moma don’t love her baby. Giving them a better life is love too.
@@daniellachanelle4142 I don't think they meant that in every rehoming scenario the parents didn't love the kid, they meant that they just didn't love the kid at all, because they definitely had enough money to take care of him. According to another comment under this video, they went on holiday nearly straight after rehoming him, so I don't think expenses were a problem for them.
Daniella Chanelle okay but this is different. they CHOSE to adopt him knowing he has special needs. That is not okay. You can’t just return a child you adopted like a pair of jeans you bought. They’re monsters for doing that to him

Huxley was extremely attached to Myka. He loved her and she used him. He was making tremendous progress and was a very loving boy. I can't imagine how distraught and confused and abandoned he must be feeling

He was attached to James, and she made her contempt of that fact pretty clear. I think that was the biggest reason she put him out like last week's garbage. The narcissist can't handle not being adored and revered, especially when it comes to someone they view as inferior, such as a small child.
@@babyfarkmcgee-zax3785 Actually they thought he was gonna die in a few years. They probably were going to use a Chinese terminally ill kid's death for clout, but when they realize they would be "stuck" with him for the rest of their lives cause he wasn't gonna die they threw him out.
When she said “re-abandoned” in place of “re-homed” that was such a perfect description. I can’t imagine how this will affect Huxley as he grows older. My brothers and I were adopted when I was 9, and my youngest brother was 5...he has had it the hardest out of all 3 of us, and we all have abandonment issues as well as the need to feel safe rather than loved. They abandoned Huxley, there’s no other way to describe it.
Maybe a Freudian slip on her part? Didn't catch that in the video so I will have to go back. They abandon Hux, plain and simple, you are very correct on that.

It's especially harsh when you consider that the poor kid had autism, which can make attachment and socializing difficult, and its likely he has additional attachment issues from neglect early in life - it will have taken him so much more time to form new attachments and trust his new family, and now he has to start from square one all over again. It's heartbreaking that anyone would get him attached and settled and learning to be loved, and then dump him with someone else like he's a sick pet they don't want anymore.
It also makes me so, so sad and angry at the same time...
... My husband was also adopted and even as a grown man he sometimes suffers because of the trauma. Even if he was adopted by loving parents and got all help he could possibly imagine.
So I'm so heartbroken for that little boy to be left twice :(
She's not just a nurse, she's an oncology nurse and she believed he had a brain tumor. That makes it way worse because they paid for his adoption with DONATED money! Asking for money implies that you don't have enough, so how exactly were they planning to pay for treatment for a child they thought had a brain tumor?? The answer is that they weren't. They never planned on paying for treatment, which is basically proven by the fact that she openly said she was not willing to pay for him to go to the necessary therapy and instead sent him to the cheapest possible therapist. I'm telling you right now, there's no such thing as a $70 therapist that does that type of therapy. They sent a nonverbal child to somebody who was only equipped to talk verbally capable normally functioning people through their feelings. It's now being reported that he is suddenly speaking now that he's with a new family, so that tells us that the Stauffer's either weren't making a real effort in that department or that they treated him so badly that he didn't feel comfortable speaking for them. I wouldn't talk for people who duct taped my thumbs to my hands either! Some people who are qualified to speak about the psychology behind their behavior have expressed suspicion that they adopted a child they thought had a brain tumor for one of two reasons (or maybe both). Either they adopted him under the delusion that he might magically be cured with little or no effort (not an unheard of thing for blindly religious people to convince themselves of!) and gain them attention by being a miracle, OR they adopted him fully expecting him to die and gain them attention by being a tragedy. That sounds SPOT ON, especially since Myka stated that she was tired of working with cancer patients because of the emotional toll! They were very obviously NOT happy to find out that he had autism instead, which any actual human would be over the moon about. There's also the fact that people who are experiencing grief and guilt over not being able to figure out how to effectively help their special needs child DO NOT go and have another baby. They're so narcissistic and out of touch that they clearly believed that no biological child of theirs could come out less than perfect. The universe clearly saw fit to spare that baby rather than giving it special needs to teach them a lesson. And thank heaven for that because unlike almost everybody else, I do not agree with the accusations that they never would have "rehomed" a biological child. People give up their biological special needs children all the time and I firmly believe that they would give up a biological child too if they felt as inconvenienced by that child as they clearly felt by Huxley. Literally everything about this story is sickening. They've even had the audacity to blatantly blame him for all this AND to act like they are now protecting his privacy by privating a lot of videos and taking down pictures. It's obvious to anybody that's followed the whole story that they simply want to forget about him and avoid hate comments on those videos and pictures. His name and his face are out there FOREVER now and some of the people making videos about the situation are being straight up disrespectful and delusional by refusing to say his name or show his face. That isn't for Huxley's already nonexistent privacy. It's for them, so that they can emotionally distance themselves from the story and pretend that they are making some sort of difference in his future. It's pathetic.

They probably have insurance that would have paid for a brain tumor but not for ongoing therapy. Plus they could set up GoFundMe for 'other' expenses. I doubt they wanted him to die, but autism isn't a cash cow like a tumor is.
Private adoptions are often like sales where the adopting family pays all costs AND pays the person giving the baby up. Usually that's a young mother, but in this case I'd bet they made several thousand. That's why they didn't just go back to the original agency.

Myka also posted about how “annoying” it was that her adopted son would eat too fast/stare at them while they ate. My adopted parents had that same problem with me and my brother when we were babies. But instead of COMPLAINING ABOUT IT ONLINE they took us to a specialist who advised them it’s common in babies who come from bio families were food was scarce and they were able to help us from there.
Your adopted parents did it out of unconditional love, they acted like real parents. On the other hand, Myka did it to gain popularity, youtube views and financial compensation. Huxley was an inconvenience to her.

My special needs daughter sucked her thumb until she was 9. I'm so incredibly furious with this woman.
I was taken from an abusive situation and was in the system and then adopted into a bad home and I sucked my index and middle fingers till the age of 13, it's extremely common and a way to self sooth. I can't imagine duct taping any child's fingers!

My sisters were left in a farmers field in Guangdong China when they were 3 weeks old. They were behind in every facet developmentally. My parents gave them just as much love as they gave me and we would have sold our house and lived in a tent if it meant getting them the care they needed. Abandoning them wasn’t even in the realm of wildest possibilities for any of us.
EDIT: Today my sisters are in 8th grade and thriving! They are pure joy in our lives, and we enjoy celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year with them each year. We made sure they always knew about their culture and the country they came from, and we all learned and educated ourselves together :)
My cousin is adopted too, from morocco when she was 3 years old, and my uncle and aunt loved her a lot. The problem is that they over spoiled her and she took advantage. She is an horrible person because her parents were not able to tell her no since everytime they tried she brought up they didn't lover for being adopted. She used this to get away with everything as kid, i would have to lend her all my things to " give example", but she would not lend anything. When she was 9 they brought for the summer an 8 yo girl from sahara who they had ..mm i don't know how to say it in english. Godparenting? They had kind of fostered her but in her country with her parents and they sent her money for clothes, medicine, studies etc ( they have been doing it until she became an adult and as far as i know she was able to get a high education thanks to that and not being separated from her bio parents). This kid was the sweetest girl ever, she was so polite and so good, she almost cried in emotion the first time she saw a pool and and potable water inside a house( that's for getting an idea of how poor her village was). So obviously we all wanted her to have the best summer ever. But my cousin soon became jelaous ( she had already done it with me, she would not let my uncle tell me tales because he was her dad and not mine, accoring to her, mind you, i only see my uncle in summer and christmas, they live in another city, and we used to be very close because i loved his stories about greek myths and even his explanation abouts rocks, he is a geologist) of the attention to the other girl. One would think being adopted she would have exra compasion for that girl. No, she was so horrible to the poor girl that my aunt and uncle decided that sadly they could not bring that girl another summer because they could not subject her to my cousins abuse. They would send extra money so maybe she could have vacations with her parents or just improve their house full time, but no putting her under the same roof as my cousin. That also made them decide against adopting a second child. Over the years my cousin became worse, as she grew up she started to even yell at her parents if they didn't obey her. Three years ago, her bio sister found her on socila nets, and they met. Turns out the bio mother was schizophrenic and had violent episodes ( hence why my cousin as a baby was taken from the woman). When the bio sister met my cousin, she told my uncle and aunt she was concerned that my cousin had inhereted the same type of schizophrenia cause she had behaviors very similar to their bio mother ( mind you, no one had informed my uncle and aunt that the bio mother had mental issues that could be hereditary, they just said she was a prostitute who gave the baby away). My cousin own bio sister got mad at her for how she was treating her parents sayinh she was ashamed of sharing blood with her. Imagine how bad you have to be for that. And despite all of that, my uncle and aunt have never considered for one second giving her up or even just kicking her out now that she is a full grown adult and potentially dangerous for them. She is their daughter so they will deal with her even if she becomes dangerous, and if she needs psychiatric help so be it because even as an adult she is still their responsability since she is their daughter.
On the other side i have a much more happy story of a friend's aunt who adopted a 4 year old chinese girl, who grew up to be lovely person and got over her trauma ( she had shackles marks in her ankles when they brought her and very scared of anyone touching her). She is a really sweet girl but because of her trauma it was very hard for her parents ( and all the family, really) at first becaus they have to be very careful in theri interactions etc. It was a hard process but they didn't give up, the whole family welcomed her and she was able to recover and thrive.

I get so confused when people say things like 'real siblings/parents' in reference to my bio siblings, or my sisters' bio parents....like....they exist in the physical realm and they are my sisters....how much more real do you want? When you sign the adoption papers that should be the same to you as giving birth to the child. If it's not you have no business adopting a child
I feel like it is even more responsability. When you get pregnant, there's a posibility that you didn't want to have a child, and just happened. When you adopt, you CHOOSE to have a kid. You choose to go on a process and even choose the kid. It is a 100% a deliberate choice.
So you might realize after giving birth that you are not fit to raise a child and give them up for adoption, but, if you adopted a child, you had to make sure you could take care of him/her.

I don't know what the 2019 stats are, but more than half of pregnancies were accidental in 2008. Just saying... I agree with them both, but I'm sure people also give up (or abandon) their own biological children if they're too overwhelmed (or too selfish) to take care of their child's special needs.

I do agree it is a better term in SOME cases. But it also makes us very ignorant because not every adoption story is the same. Some children in poor countries are adopted, not because they weren’t loved but because their parents knew they couldn’t give them a life they deserve. Some mothers could also possibly die during birth. Not every situation is the same. Just food for thought

I'm an adopted native American girl. Now something that happens... is that if we are still in the foster care system, our tribe can take us from the foster care parents and put us with a relative (this being my bio grandmother).
My adoptive mother literally went into a depressive state and my adoptive dad thought she was going to die. No joke.
Once my bio grandmother knew she couldn't care for me, she decided it was best for my adoptive parents to have me.
I wasn't even a year old when I went through that.
I'm 24 now and I'm forever grateful that my parents raised me. ❤
I'm so sorry you and your family had to go through that separation but glad you ended up with a good forever family. I have 2 Native American foster brothers, they're fantastic boys, but Tribal politics are definitely a different arena

MélissaEnvy It's *both*. Nature VS Nurture experiments have thought us that biologically unrelated children raised in a family will develop mannerisms and much more similar to the parents who raised them and the siblings they grew up with.
But also, siblings separated from each other and their parents at birth have been found to share mannerisms, and to have chosen similar spouses, the same religion and share tastes with both their siblings and birth parents.
And obviously, some people, raised by their birth or adopted family share no mannerisms or physical traits or ways of thinking with anyone.
So it's not obvious lol. And I find it beautiful.
My father and grandparents...you'd never imagine it was any different. I love them so much and they never made me feel like we weren't the same DNA. My dad was adopted a year apart from his brother that was adopted too (not same parents). And they love my dad and uncle regardless because no matter what people like them, like this girl show that it's not all about DNA. That family is much more than that.

I still cry over my cat I had to rehome due to an extremely long hospital stay and rehab. I still miss her every day. It was the responsible thing to do. But it was the worst too.

I definitely agree. I hope that Huxley will now get the support he needs and deserves. I personally find more issue with money they made directly off Hux (i.e. sponsored update videos). It would be nice to a. prevent this family from adopting again (which they were planning to) and b. for at least a portion of the money to be put in a trust fund for him to use as he grows up

No matter what the actual reason for giving up on him was, you’d think she’d have some emotional response talking about him after raising him for three years, but there was nothing- just her squeaky manipulative voice.

@@sarahnichols4253 I think this case is a good reason we need to have similar laws set down for adopted children as we do for foster children in regards to what you're able to post online about them. This case highlights that adopted children in the US are open to exploitation from people like the Stauffers. They made over 2 million dollars off of Huxley and he will never see that money. I am dying to adopt, especially older children. Because everyone wants a damn baby 🤦🏼♀️. But this was like a knife being twisted in my stomach hearing and seeing that family throwing away a beautiful perfect child.
Me too, my family fostered several children. The oldest they fostered was 13 along with his 4 year old sister. They had many issues like PTSD, the little girl was very touchy and sexual. He hated being touched and despised motel rooms. There was a lot more issues.
But we did end up adopting them. I understand that older kids are typically not easy to handle but once u find a connection, all the struggles are worth it.

Cringesicle OK so I actually know a legitimate way around that where it’s not so expensive. Register your house and such like that and get it legalized for fostering and as you’re fostering the child you can officially adopt them the process is not only shorter but as well as less expensive doing it in that way.
it is understandable as for an older child you really have to be strong and stable, while with a baby people can grow into being a parent for them. That's not something you can with an older child, you have to be ready from the start.
on top of that, they can have a lot of bagage and your whole family have to be in it from the start and have to be prepared. you have to expect a rough road and learn to love a child that might have all kinds of issues and be a parent for them while they already have a mostly developed personality. Adopting an older child is much more like taking in a stranger in your home and is a step to far for many people. It's indeed sad, cause they can really use a home, a home where they can come to even after 18. Once over 18 the chances of them finding a home where they can be the child (as in the one that will be taken care of unconditionally) is almost extinct. There are not many healthy ways to find that as an adult.
AND The Stauffer family’s ignorance and irresponsibility will likely lead to stricter regulations and/or costs that will add more barriers between children who desperately need families and potential parents hoping to adopt. It’s already almost insurmountable for many families to adopt...and now these wealthy, exploitative, abusive, neglectful people are making it MORE difficult for people hoping to adopt.
The implications will be very far-reaching. They should also have open cases for their bio kids...the family likely has other issues that need to be explored.
When she said "I will make an impression of it if its ok for you", seeing parents treat their kids with respect is jarring, it makes me really hopeful

I agree, and I have those issues, and the funny thing is that I am white in a white family, and have those issues... So you can have the same skin color but different ethnicity and still have identity issues later on in life. Side note if there is any spelling errors sorry, English is not my first language.
In a human development class I took, we are taught that the best and healthiest route adoptive parents can take is to fully acknowledge their child's adoption and where they come from.

The thing is with Myka is that she was on camera saying how the orphanage told her and warned her multiple times about him having very severe issues. She heard this and let it go out the other ear, I personally find that sickening that she lied about that and didn’t take what they said seriously and further traumatize that poor child.

Someone said they were initially told they were getting a baby with a brain tumor. Based on speculation they wanted this child to be temporary in their life and once they found out it was a life time commitment to have a child with autism they didn’t want that. Scary watching videos and more and more you see they were looking for a wow factor to get as much money as possible and even asked for donations at one point

I feel so much for Huxley. I was adopted at 16 out of foster care, but my adoptive mom was abusive and cared only about the money. Kicked me out at the age of 17. So I left and moved to Chicago. I feel so pain for him. It hurts. So much.

Its normal that you still have that feeling Kathy. The moment you were taking away from your birth mom, you got a trauma. And this trauma (and loss) you are dealing with your whole life already. I’m adopted myself and I’m now 30, I’m in the process of dealing with the loss of my birth parents. It doesn’t matter if you were a baby or not, it’s still rooted in your body :( I hope you can find a way of dealing with this, I know it’s hard.
When I adopted my cat, I did not know he was abused as a kitten. I didn’t know he would scratch me violently for a month and that I would spend so much money on vet visits. I was 18 years old, earning minimum wage + a college student. My time and money were important and difficult to share but I made it my duty to give this cat the best care EVER and a great life. It was my mission to let him know he was loved, and to introduce him a quality filled life. All my money went towards him. I switched to online school. It took some time to get on his good side but I NEVER thought of rehoming him. How would I help him if I sent him off just because things were different than I expected? What type of person would I be to adopt a cat that feels just like I do, to then give him away as if he were a sweater? From the moment i adopted him, I knew everything that had to do with him was MY responsibility. 4 years later.. my cat is the most LOVING and energetic cat. The first time he rubbed his face against my cheek... i still cry when I think about it. A child is particularly difficult and different than an animal. I don’t understand how someone can re-abandon a child or a pet. As a mother of four she knew better. I know it’s difficult for all of them, but I honestly feel that the child will be emotionally overwhelmed and unstable
You are a great person but your goood qualities also make you vulnerable. Be careful in romantic relationships. Learn about narcissistic personality disorder and avoid such people .
Af there’s no “fixing” someone with a disorder. They can learn coping skills and with certain disorders, maybe take necessary medication. But the main takeaway from experience with someone like that is that it’s not then who has to change, it’s what you can adapt to and change about what you expect from someone with a prescribed limitation to their mind and/or body.

The Stauffers other children will be affected by their decision to use that baby than abandon him because he had a medical issue. What kind of love or lesson abt love is that? They talk about GOD, GOD was nowhere in that decision to cut and run!

I agree. One of my own siblings have several disorders and when he was like 5-8 he was acting out a lot and having a lot of violent fits. Of course I hated this, I was just a child. But I still loved him and defended him when others' mistreated him. If my mom had given him up I would have been devastated.
I also find it interesting how the family "couldn't" continue to be Huxley's parents. Of course I don't know their background, maybe they do have a great reason that I just don't know about. But seeing how my mom made it all alone, while being economically strained, having both her parents die within 6 months of each other and not being really able to mourn them, going into depression, coping with her youngest child having a disorder she never heard of before and all while she has two other small kids that need her attention. Yes, it is exhausting and my mom DID burn out. But she did and still does it because it's her child that she loves unconditionally. She would have NEVER given him up to strangers.

U kinda right. Rocking is a common stim with autism that usually sparks up during sensory overload (although not always during that). Its like bouncing ur leg when ur anxious, it’s a calming thing

I have a good friend from Romania .... he grew up in an orphanage he rocks quite a bit he told me there in the orphanage it’s only a matter of time before any of the new kids start rocking all of them end up doing it because they’re just left to their own devices staring at walls all day

The police released a statement a week or so, not sure, about the whereabouts of Huxley. He has been found and is doing well. I'm in no way, shape, or form standing up for Myka. I'm disappointed and disgusted in her for what she has done. I just wanted to let others know about Huxley.

Well technically the police said they could find no physical evidence he was being abused, that the Stauffers verbally denied human trafficking, and that they were closing the file. Insufficient evidence of trauma during a visit here or there isn't evidence of proper care, unfortunately. I dearly hope he is receiving love and compassion and attentive parenting. But we don't have any actual evidence that is the case. 🙁

Exactly. It’s the same when you decide to have a child. A child will never be perfect. But it is your purpose to love them and help them however they need. Of course it is going to be difficult. And that’s why people need to be able to make the choice for themselves if they are not *ready* to have a child. Because once you have a child they are yours FOREVER.

I got pregnant very young and chose adoption, I was fortunate to be able to meet the adoptive parents before birth and get to know them.
The "baby" is now 26 years old, and has met my 3 children that I raised. I was worried that he would hate me for keeping them and not him, but, he held no anger, he had a great childhood with lots of love from the parents who adopted him. ❤

When people delved into Myka's records, it turns out that she was lying about her being a Registered Nurse. After getting in trouble at work in her last nursing job, she failed to renew her license and stopped being a RN in 2012. Years later she was still saying on camera that she was a RN.

My mom and dad are foster parents. The analogy they used to explain to myself and my siblings what these kids had gone through will always stick with me. We were super into Star Wars when my parents were first certified and ready to get their first placements, so they compared it to Alderaan.

That is what pisses me off about the whole situation. To him the family is his security and he needs that to develop emotionally, mentally etc... I do understand that is can be overwhelming sometimes to have a child with special needs, but there are services!!!!!! There’s early intervention, there’s education for the parents, so I do not feel bad for them.
Those abandonment issues can and likely will affect the rest of his life and relationships going forward. The least they could have done is financially secure his mental and physical healthcare going forward.
As an adoptive mom of three, I confirm everything that your mother says is true. Myka is a nurse and has the knowledge to care for this child, she also has the money to care for Huxley. What she lacks, is compassion, the desire to put the time in, and unconditional love for this boy. Myka is fake, and she faked her way through the adoption process to get Huxley. God bless you Alex. We adopted an older child from China last year. I’m not going to lie, it was incredibly hard in the begining. He had (still has but much less) EXTREME anger issues. Throwing things, growling like an animal, grabbing a knife when he was angry, running away from us, etc. He was fighting us HARD. But we knew that he was fighting for his life. He didn’t know us. He didn’t know if he was going to be safe. He grew up in baby fight club. His anger kept him alive in the orphanage for so long. Through love, patience, therapy, and MOST IMPORTANTLY US AS PARENTS CHANGING SO WE COULD BE THE TYPE OF PARENTS OUR SON NEEDED. It was 100% on us to learn how to love him where he was at, not him coming to where we were and be the kid we would wanted.
He still has some struggles but he has learned a brand new language, how to express his emotions, how to be loved, how to love in return, and how to just be a child. We have a long road to go but i would not ever give up on him.

Hey Hi it’s probably just a phrase for orphanages and foster homes. You have to fight to get what you can in the sense of being aggressive, scary, and even actual fighting to get food, clothes, and necessities. Most kids barely get the minimum to survive in those places
I agree with the part about "health" being a broad spectrum, especially in the poor sections of China. I don't think one can expect a baby being abandoned in a village in suburb China can be in fully good health (which is unfortunate). So even if you're opting to adopt a "healthy" baby, one should be prepared to deal with some medical needs, be it physical or psychological, of the baby, which is what parents do. It feels wrong to hear Myka talking about the baby not being "as it should be" as if she was talking about a product she ordered from Amazon.

I was adopted from Korea when I was 3 months. Never had attachment issues with my family, but I still did have difficulty understanding why I was given away. I went through stages of grieving to finally accept why I was put up for adoption. Also anyone that says something so adamantly like she did, “ my child isn’t returnable,” but then returns the child, makes me think she planned out returning her son.
I had a teacher whose older brother was adopted from Korea. He said that growing up together, being raised as brothers, he felt no different towards him than to any other sibling.

She was the one who pushed for the adoption. Most of her social media has revolved around making herself look like Huxley's savior. Most of her posts and videos solely revolve around her and how she's doing and how she dealt with Huxley. Very me, me, me. Yes, her husband also has blame but a lot of his money from social media does not come from Huxley or making himself look Huxley's savior. He has a bigget following than his wife simply from posting car detailing videos. Most of Myka's fame and money came from Huxley. And to the person saying "shouldn't matter who wears the pants in the relationship", it does. Emotional dominance and emotional abuse is real and just because in this case it's the woman who seems to be the controlling one don't say it doesn't matter.
I also really wonder how the other children are going to feel once they're old enough to understand what happened. They're probably going to end up really resenting their parents and understandably so.
They are probably going to grow up thinking their mommy can 'rehome' them if they are not perfect kids.

As an adoptive mom of a special needs child from Korea, what this family did is unconscionable. They are simply terrible human beings....parental love should NOT be conditional. We used Holt as well and I cannot say enough great things about them. Kudos for you to continue to support!

The thing that strikes me the most with the duct tape tumb is that he used his hands to talk, to express himself, because he didn't talk their language. She took his voice away, she withdraw him of communicating like he want. This is horrible.

@@alexjayne_ From what little I've heard, I heard it was because he was sucking his thumb until it was raw and he was ripping off the bandages. But using duct tape on skin is NEVER okay. It's not medically safe to use. If I had a child sucking their thumb to that degree, I would have gotten a childproof brace to put on top of the bandages and change the bandages every week/day/whatever is recommended by a doctor.
Adoption is so hard. I was adopted from Hong Kong, China at the age of 7. I stayed with a foster family and was extremely attached to that family. Up until they decided they couldn’t afford to keep me and gave me up. I was in an orphanage before I started living with my foster family in HK. I’m now with an American family and admit that I do have some issues due to the fact that I was abandoned twice in my life. I can’t imagine the trauma this child is going to have later on. Thank you to you and your mom for sharing your perspectives on this very serious issue. It’s so important that people become educated about abandonment and how much trauma and PTSD that child will go through. Because of what I went through, I have an extremely hard time having close relationships with people in fear I won’t be loved, or if there’s something wrong with me and they’re just going to abandon me eventually..etc. But anyway, I love your video, Alex! My little was adopted from China, as well as her two siblings (not biological, but adopted as well,) and her family basically abandoned any Chinese, or Asian in general, aspects of her heritage and culture. She became a typical SoFlo girl. We don’t really talk anymore, but I am actually considering adopting in the future (health issues) and I was wondering-would you, personally, should you have been adopted and raised by an American family at a young age, want to keep that cultural aspect in your life and blended with a typical Caucasian lifestyle? Or would you prefer to just live a typical life in your new cultural environment?

The so-called "orphanage rock" was very common amongst people who were institutionalised, particularly from a young age. It's a self-soothing, sensory response to little-to-no stimulation and interaction from other people. Years ago if you went to any poorly-run (as most were) institution that housed people with even mild learning disability or mental health issues like depression you would get lots of rocking which would make people appear 'scarier', less able or more ill than they actually were. It's a symptom of massive neglect. So happy you got the love you deserved.
Huxley was in an orphanage, than with a foster family (who he bonded with) than adopted by the stauffers, and than he was abandoned by them. So technically he was abandoned by his mother, “by the orphanage”, by the foster family(not their choice) and than by the stauffers. This poor baby. He did not deserve this treatment.

Sherry (Alex's mom) is the voice we need on TH-cam. I love how fair and balanced she is in her assessment of not only the issues at hand, but also her own boundaries in knowledge. The thumb-sucking part isn't just that Mykka didn't do it for her bio kids, it also has to do with the fact that their dentist recommended it as H was at high risk for dental issues in the future. People need to be careful that we don't criticise others for our own ego, getting excited to "spill the tea" and trash talk whoever is marked by society right now. The goal is to acknowledge the real errors and correct them, so we can all learn how to behave better

Cos I can tell you, with a daughter who had the thumb sucking addiction, our dentist never once told us to tape up her hands. Gloves, that awful bitter stuff you put on nails, positive reinforcement.
Duct tape on the hands is tantamount to child abuse here in the UK. You'd be investigated by the SS.

@@n0odles86 also, it is very clear both Myka and James over exaggerate many, many situations, so.....yeah. Most children who do the pacifier or suck their thumb ARE prone to dental issues, but again, that’s yet another example of the difference made between him and the bios.
My late husband and I adopted 5 daughters, 2 from China and 3 from Cambodia. They are all in there 20’s now. Your adoption is very much like my first adoption from China...very delayed, etc but that child was MINE the second Holt sent me her photo! One of my daughters from Cambodia was 5 yrs when she came home and now she is a professor at a college, aged 25 yrs. When I was able to bring home her bio sister aged 9 yrs she excelled in school also! All my daughters came with “baggage” but we dealt with any problems. They are all doing very well now and I love them dearly. I have 2 bio sons and my husband had 2 bios also. There is no difference in the love I feel for each of them and my husband felt the same way. I was adopted domestically 70 yrs ago.
