One time an Amazon driver came and said that my parents have a beautiful house so my mom signed thank you. He got so happy to find a hearing person who knows some asl. I want to learn myself so I can have a conversation with another deaf person ♥️

People are always so excited when you learn a language that’s not your spoken language growing up my oldest daughter works at smoothie king as a cashier, and a deaf person came in she said hello how are you in sign, and the deaf person was so excited and impressed

Honestly, I've been in situations where I've found myself physically unable to speak which is what caused me to want to learn sign language. This channel was a really helpful thing to find and the way it explains/shows the words/phrases makes it easier to learn. :D

Thanks for sharing your motivation for learning ASL. Many of my friends through life have been nearly deaf, I wondered why they didn't learn ASL. The answer , of course, is that nobody they know does ASL. That was my motivation. (and it's easier to learn than Spanish)

That’s awesome! I’ve started learning ASL for like the reverse reason; I was specifically learning abt autism and how some people can become nonverbal (at times or all the time) from overstimulation and I wanted to still be able to communicate w/ them

I've been an EMT for going on 12 years, now, and have dealt with many deaf patients, family members and bystanders. I’m not hearing impaired or mute, but I think nonverbal communication like this will help me convey my emotions better when I’m overwhelmed, I’m a good or bad way. I’ve never gone completely nonverbal, but I’ve also never tried to go into a comfortable safe state like that, because I know to others it might seem like I’m overreacting. Trying this might make it easier for me to handle strong emotions

Also bc its cool to be able to talk/sign to my sister or someone eighter to the other side of the room or maybe in like family gatherings or bday parties. And ofcourse to make it easier on people who use sign day to day. Would be nice to be able to understand some of it and to show I care and possibly help someone out who may not speak (at times)

My current partner is losing their hearing and I have a child who isn't really talking so while they learn I still have the tools to communicate with them. My partner even pointed out I still subconsciously sign even while talking, especially when I'm upset or frustrated.

I used to work at restaurant and I was so amazed and wanted to learn and talk to customera signs. They are like the cool kids.
Right now I am learning with my daughter sign language cuz she talks too much lol shhhhhhh
I mean.... It helps when we go somewhere she sees me from a distance she knows what I am trying to say and I don't have to yell
    Yay

do you like always need to say like as if i said
i'm worried do i have to say me worried me like repeat
that i'm the one worried, like do you need to always repeat
the person that feels that or is it only for when it's you

    • @LearnHowtoSign
      @LearnHowtoSign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Correct ASL structure is ME (the feeling) ME
Ending with ME/MY/YOU/YOUR (any pronouns) is called a closing signal. This shows you are done with what you are wanting to say.

I have a question about the sentences. Sometimes, the rules seem inconsistent, and I can't figure out why you do something one way and do something else differently. An example in this video is that you used the sign "my" to say "my son," but before that when it was "Me, my mother, and my sister," you didn't use "my" in reference to you mother or sister. Can you please explain why? Thanks!
PS. We LOVE these videos and have been using them for our ASL homeschooling curriculum!
