People are always so excited when you learn a language that’s not your spoken language growing up my oldest daughter works at smoothie king as a cashier,and a deaf person came in she said hello how are you in sign,and the deaf person was so excited and impressed
Honestly, I've been in situations where I've found myself physically unable to speak which is what caused me to want to learn sign language. This channel was a really helpful thing to find and the way it explains/shows the words/phrases makes it easier to learn. :D
Thanks for sharing your motivation for learning ASL. Many of my friends through life have been nearly deaf, I wondered why they didn't learn ASL. The answer , of course, is that nobody they know does ASL. That was my motivation. (and it's easier to learn than Spanish)

I've been an EMT for going on 12 years, now, and have dealt with many deaf patients, family members and bystanders. I decided to learn ASL because I believe it will help relieve already stressful situations in those instances. Your video series has been so helpful and makes me feel confident using what I learn.

People are always so quick to judge someone for wanting to be creative and learn more. At the end of the day you’ll be the one able to communicate with others while your friend will be lost. Good job in learning I’m learning as well
My job just hired a guy who is deaf, and its really inspired me to learn ASL. I showed him im learning sign language and the biggest smile on his face appeared. I wish i learned this earlier

I’m not hearing impaired or mute, but I think nonverbal communication like this will help me convey my emotions better when I’m overwhelmed, I’m a good or bad way. I’ve never gone completely nonverbal, but I’ve also never tried to go into a comfortable safe state like that, because I know to others it might seem like I’m overreacting. Trying this might make it easier for me to handle strong emotions
I have a cousin and she has down syndrome she couldn't speak for about a year and I couldn't find anywhere to learn any sign language I was looking on TH-cam and I found this channel this channel is great and I finally can communicate with her❤❤❤

It's different than framing sentences for hearing people. It's actually better framing because I'm getting to the topic, instead of fumbling for a way to start a sentence
To all parents: we taught our kids sign language when they were growing up. We could sign to them from a distance and it would eliminate shouting. It worked so well. They now use it for their kids!

Which is why I started to learn some with the possibility to learn a few easy to use signs to maybe use with my parents. Like I could use them when I am frustrated and use the sign so I don't have to say I am frustrated but sign it so my mum knows I am. Also bc its cool to be able to talk/sign to my sister or someone eighter to the other side of the room or maybe in like family gatherings or bday parties. And ofcourse to make it easier on people who use sign day to day. Would be nice to be able to understand some of it and to show I care and possibly help someone out who may not speak (at times) Hope this may awnser your question or give you an idea

I signed as a kid because I didn't want to talk. As I got older my friends and partners didn't like that I signed and found it annoying that I would sign. My current partner is losing their hearing and I have a child who isn't really talking so while they learn I still have the tools to communicate with them. My partner even pointed out I still subconsciously sign even while talking, especially when I'm upset or frustrated.

I've been in customer service for years. Plus have a granddaughter that's learning sign language as she has CP. Any how, I've had customers I've help that are nonverbal and it's been a challenge to help them. Correct ASL structure is ME (the feeling) ME Ending with ME/MY/YOU/YOUR (any pronouns) is called a closing signal. This shows you are done with what you are wanting to say.

I have a question about the sentences. Sometimes, the rules seem inconsistent, and I can't figure out why you do something one way and do something else differently. An example in this video is that you used the sign "my" to say "my son," but before that when it was "Me, my mother, and my sister," you didn't use "my" in reference to you mother or sister. Can you please explain why? Thanks! PS. We LOVE these videos and have been using them for our ASL homeschooling curriculum!

I'm a retired ASL educator .. long time ago. I rarely allowed or used voice in my classroom (I'm Deafish). But you are doing a good job.

Ending with ME/MY/YOU/YOUR (any pronouns) is called a closing signal. This shows you are done with what you are wanting to say.

I have a question about the sentences. Sometimes, the rules seem inconsistent, and I can't figure out why you do something one way and do something else differently. An example in this video is that you used the sign "my" to say "my son," but before that when it was "Me, my mother, and my sister," you didn't use "my" in reference to you mother or sister. Can you please explain why? Thanks!
