Thanks for posting this. I was looking at the inside of the console trying to figure out how to expose the mounting points. I'm glad I checked here first! About obtaining the part: the replacement for my 2021 XTrek was in-stock at the dealer. It was about $130. The dealer parts person will probably have to order the part for earlier XTrek vehicles.
You don’t need to order a whole new assembly. The armrest cover comes off. Five more screws and a couple gentle, curious pulls. Ordered a replacement cover on amazing.
Pretty sure it is the same set-up as the 23 Cross has with its armrest as Toyota owns 30% of Subaru and they cross-use parts in all sorts of ways ( cheaper for them). I say that as the cross so-called armrest is as hard as a rock and I want to take the top cover off pad it and re-do it to something a little softer. Same for the sun visors that are made from some type of Kevlar material and you wouldn't want to hit it on the way out of the front windshield in an accident! lol Love your USB connector tips and how to safely take panels/trim/ tabs off without breaking them. Too dam expensive if you do.
Mine came off as I was trying to position my fingers under it. Definitely shouldn't be hard to take off. Make sure your arm rest is the same as the video. If it is the same, try some upward pressure from the bottom
