They weren’t wrong in their answers as far as the animal goes. The way he stated the question was misleading. “Name an animal with 3 letters in its name.” Frog and Alligator both have 3 letters in their names. He should have stated, “Name an animal that only has 3 letters in its name.”
@@marckempe2143 Well, that's the question that was used in the survey. Nobody who answered the survey said frog or alligator. Anyone with experience in English should be able to figure out the meaning of the question. It's just that contestants, time and time again, blurb out nonsense when needing to answer a question within seconds.

It already happened before, but in a different question - animal that is color green. Unfortunately, the family who got that question (it was also the last question they got) very unluckily got 199 points. Frog got 44, while alligator got 4.

I think the second Bob was trying to think of an animal that has the same letter appearing three times in its name, such as hippopotamus having three letter "p"s. (But alligator still doesn't work even for that.)

To be fair to this guy, he thought the host meant "3 of the same letter", which would still have been wrong, but he was on a 15 second time limit to answer 5 questions on television. Both guys also misunderstood what the host meant by "brand" of gasoline. They were naming types and the host wanted the name of the gas station.

Alligator also has three letters in its name out of nine. Rephrasing by putting "ONLY" means strictly asking for an animal with ONLY 3 letters. Are we on the same page here now?

I can name plenty of animals with three-letter names. Sure, "FROG" wasn't on the survey, But for sure 100% base on your point that the question you're saying is just "ok" the answer "FROG" has also 3 letter on its name but did you see how everyone reacted when it was mentioned? It’s 1977. It’s supposedly August 31 1977, though I’ve heard other people say it’s September 2. It’s confusing. Plus, why did they do an anniversary episode a week after their actual anniversary?
