Excluding "getting laid" as an absolute priority, I think the way one feels and the way one talks to people are strictly connected. Never let yourself appear as weak, sad and negative around people. Two weeks ago I've been to this hot spring in Iceland with a colleague. We were shooting some videos of how we relax in the hot water, pulling our heads back and enjoying the moment, while more than 10m from us there were 6 girls and one guy, all american. I slowed down, letting my colleage in front of me and the girl who waved, came kinda closer to me but still she kept distance and I didn't just wanna wait and start a conversation, I thought it would be more natural to allow her to keep up with me. We crossed by each other a few times and still didn't strike a conversation with her. She told the other girl and the guy that I don't even look at her, loud enough so I can hear.
Anyways, she chose another way to cut though the way and got in a rocky area that was a lil higher than my way. Then I stopped, looked at her and she said she chose a wrong path...and from there we carried out a conversation all the way back.
Question: Did I start a much stronger interest in her for not engaging with her in the early stages, minutes after I waved back at her? And do you consider this as a mind game, in which I had no intention to play, cause I just don't like to approach when there is a group.

I guess for me it's hard for me to talk to guys I don't know very well. I'm too busy trying to figure out what they want or why they approached me. I get very self conscious. I've always liked meeting guys in the course of work or school. With the guy I met in law school, our discussions were primarily about the assignment we were both working on. We worked well together because he didnt slack off and he was responsive. I didn't really see it as anything other than that which made it easy for us to be ourselves. Then throughout the course of the work it got more personal but we had already developed a rapport. Much better than awkward small talk.
