Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
I remember he was already a bit of a sociopath before meeting darth plagueis. I remember reading he ran over some pedestrians once, and his only worry was that his father would be upset the speeder got dirty and dented.
But he also uses it as a means to an end. Otherwise he wouldn’t have created a structured empire with order. If he was just evil, he’d want chaos and destruction and to see people suffer. But he created an empire with government
Sidious enjoys being evil but he did have an agenda like other sith. His empire was to stop the Yuuzhan Vong, & I cant remember anything else, maybe typical politician "manifest destiny" stuff but maybe not...the Hutt cartel was allowed to exist.
@@TheCephalonbeing purely evil does not automatically mean you seek death and destruction just for the cause of it. I figure it's more like playing with toy soldiers. You line em up, you do what you want, then you rearrange them again
Stories like this have alway made me wonder how differently things would be if the sith utilized all of their emotions rather than just hatred and pain. Why is hate and ruthlessness more vital than love and compassion? How powerful would an order of sith built around those things which make us human be? Much more powerful than they are in legends, I think.

@Miguel Ramos Thats common sense Plagueis is his master. I like both of them but Sidious is way stronger. If he is weaker the rule of 2 is a failure as apprentices should be stronger. After taking over the galaxy sidious simply had more chances to increase his power.
we need a Palpatine series showing since the Tenebrous-Plagueis plans, going through Sidious training as his apprentice until Plagueis assassination (or the attempt)
It's always fun to learn about the "important" characters who are still not important enough to get parts in the films, and I'm rather fond of Darth Plagueius the Wise. My biggest issue with some of these is the sheer lack of knowledge they possess. I don't expect Star Wars to be just like Tolkien, with heaps of lore for every individual, but Star Wars definitely has its share of "Blue Wizards", who have one event they featured in, and then gone. One of my favorite characters is Darth Tenebrous, and I'd love to see a video like this on him, but the video would be about two and a half minutes, with three points every Tenebrous video already says, because that's all there is. I've heard theyvare possibly making a show taking place during the High Republic, and one reason I really want that is because Tenebrous is the Dark Lord of the Sith during that time, so I'd be watching for stray Bith, and hoping he appears. Still, Plagueius is a cool character, and at least he gets mentioned, has history, and even a book from Legends, and hearing about him is fun.
I can't wait for this. Oh btw, I recommend you don't do too many premieres because youtube doesn't do notifications for premieres so ya might lose potential views
So, in the Legends book of Darth Plagueis, it seems that Plagueis was experimenting with "immaculate conception" (by means of the mitichlorions) [around the time Anakin was concieved]. Are there theories around Anakin being the product of Plageuis' experiments
Yes, the force fought back by making Anakin, to restore balance... which in the end he did. he created Luke a powerful light user, was apart of the deaths of nearly every jedi (order 66) and then ended up killing Sidious, along with himself, therefor bringing balance to the force through those events. It just wasn't how the jedi nor the Sith imagined thats how the prophecy of the chosen one would be realized...
Tell me what your regard as your greatest strength so I know how to best undermine you, tell me of your greatest fears so I will know which I must force you to face, tell me what you cherish most so I will know what to take from you, and tell me what you crave so I may deny you. -Plagueis Manipulation, fear and deception: the rule of 2 One defeats their enemies by knowing them just as well as they know themselves.
Are you planning on doing a video on Shaak-Ti some time in the future? I'm curious how you'd choose to have her canon death meld with the events of The Force Unleashed. An idea I've always had was that somehow during the raid on the temple she ends up helping other Jedi flee the scene while force projecting her in her chambers where Anakin finds and "kills" her. She then ends up hopping aboard a gunship alongside Maris Brood and the two flee to Felucia where they'd eventually set the events of TFU into action.
Amazing and astonishing video Scoundrel's Cantina!!!! I always enjoy your videos on KOTOR characters a lot and learning more about the expanded universe of Star Wars. This is way better than seeing anything else from the Sequel Trilogy!!!!!
The assassination attempt of Plagueis took place on Coruscant, not the Muun home planet. In the Order of the Canted Circle building during the initiation of Larsh Hill.
Where are these animations from? The animations of plagueis alone, another of him and Palpatine training, and even one of them in what appears to be robot chicken? Lol
To piggyback on your idea he could have been a young Palpatine where Plagueis did indeed inhabit his body but more of a shared thing where they were both fighting for supremacy. Maybe Palpatine's personality was just a ambitious and ruthless with a bit of a ratlike sneaky side (thus the chosen profession as a politician) which is why he killed Plagueis in his sleep. And would also explain why when he gets hurt or pissed that "second voice" always comes out. And to fast forward a bit, maybe it's the Plagueis inside the Emperor who led to the experiments that led to the creation of Snoke (which the ultimate goal was to create a clone worthy to inhabit). Which is why Snoke looks so much like Plagueis even having his scar that he received while in his original body. Alternately maybe it's 100% Plagueis and always has been...talk about shift in history.
My second, more fanboy theory is: Let's look at Matt Smith as an actor; tall, eloquently spoken, sharp featured, male. To me he would make a PERFECT Admiral Thrawn. (add in red eyes). Thrawn has been in the background for awhile and I really think he is going to be the next Big Bad, but maybe Disney wasn't ready to gamble on a character they knew nothing about, they wanted to force feed us (pun not intended) us all the "nostalgia porn" they could by bringing in as many cameo characters/ships/plot lines as they could with the Rey Trilogy.
I think it was the intention, honestly. Having two different directors with two different visions screwed up the sequels. Sequels had potential but were done wrong in a lot of ways. Both directors had flaws they brought to the table.
