That sound is compressor surge/turbo flutter not the wastegate.
This car has the spirit of the good old N4 cars
We need more of those Rally Street cars
agree. it would be a dream come true if hyundai or ford too, or any Rally2 manufacturer made a car like the GR yaris.

Sounds like a 3 cylinder engine in this car?
its a 3 cyl similar to the one in the GR Yaris production car with some tweaks. Around 280 hp as per regs

@@emmanuelvergeron6977 rally2 cars are all around 280-300hp. They have a 32mm turbo inlet restrictor.

The engine is a 1.6L 3-cyl Turbo. (G16E-GTS)
It's a homologated engine so you can actually find the same engine inside the road going GR Yaris/GR Corolla.

Rallying in trouble though with this being the only new or update car this year fiesta finished Skoda Fabia to not be replaced after this model looks like a sea of Yaris's from here on in

You have to hear the Rally1 cars, this is Rally2, the small turbo inlet restrictor really muffles the sound compared with Rally1.

This is a Rally2 car meant for customer use rather than the uber expensive Rally1.
If you wanted those high pitched noises then you should go watch a Rally1 video instead.
Unlike Rally1 which are pure racecar from the ground up with a roadcar silhouette on top, a Rally2 still uses the road car's chassis (and engine).
