'Keeper of the seven keys' is an absolute must to react to. It is a gem in the entire history metal
most underrated band ever
it is definitely not too underrated... Helloween is one of the biggest metal bands in the world... probably even one of the 3 biggest and most influential power metal bands out there.

I don’t know where you are from, but in Europe Helloween and Blind Guardian are kicking ass as a headlining outputs in 50 000 - 100 000 crowd international festivals. In my country Helloween’s last concert had a bit more modest audience- around 10 000

Eagle fly free is indeed the ultimate power metal anthem, but I would even go further- it’s one of the best songs ever written in the 20h century, alongside “Wonderful world” by Armstrong and “My way” by Sinatra and “Yesterday “ by the Beatles. I strongly believe that, because this song is larger than life

Ride the Sky, with their first singer is freaking FANTASTIC
Ride the Sky is a beast mode activated, and so is the entire “Walls of Jericho” album. It’s basically heavier than Slayer’s “Show no mercy” and I’ll say it - with better vocals and musicianship
Their first singer is the guitarist in this video whit the red one. Kai Hansen who later formed Gamma Ray \,./
Man I cannot wait for the next studio album which will have Hansen, Kiske, and Deris.
Helloween, the godfathers of power metal (aka as "speed metal" in the mid 80s), or happy metal as they called themselves years ago
It was actually known as Death Metal at the time. They were featured in a 1984 compilation record called "Death Metal". One song was never released under Helloween, called "Oernst of Life". To my knowledge the "Death Metal" album is the only place to hear that song.
Oddly enough Metallica's first demo in 1982 was call "Power Metal"

My husband and I live in Canada and went to Las Vegas for their Pumpkins United tour last year with the various incarnations of the band touring together. It was a god tier level concert that was 100% worth it to see a band that had been on our bucket list for years!
All of the other songs recommended are great. I also recommend Gamma Ray- Insurrection or Real World!
The first time I heard this song was in the late 80s. I could not get enough of it. Fast forward many years later and I still cannot get enough of it. Keeper of the Seven Keys Parts 1 & 2 are both magical albums which I still listen to often. Feel better!!

Yep youngest member of the band with an iconic voice. Even in his forties his voice hasn't changed a bit.
And the Hair from Kiske was a little bit "shorter"

The great Michael Kiske. Saw them back in 1987 with Grim Reaper and Armored Saint. Then Saw Michael 30 yrs later with Avantasia and he never lost a step. Keeper 1 & 2 are incredible albums that really has his voice soaring. Also check his stuff with Kiske/Somerville. He doesn't disappoint.
Helloween is one of those bands who never really knew if they wanted to be Glam Metal or more traditional Heavy Metal and inadvertently ended up pioneering a whole new genre, Power Metal. It's changed a lot since then, but Helloween is undoubtedly one of the grand-pappy's of that genre. Listen to more please! :-)
This makes me happy, even though seeing Michael Kiske with hair is definitely an odd sight.
Also I think you would like their earlier song Ride the Sky, it’s before Kiske was on vocals but it’s pure thrash metal at its best

I saw them in 1989 on The Headbanger’s Ball Tour opening for Exodus and Anthrax down in Phoenix, AZ the night I got there on leave from the Army. I had my dad who was 50 and a month from 51 that year go buy my ticket. Incredible show it was

Ingo, the beast drummer, was one if not the best drummer in speed/power metal. But sadly, he passed away. Suicide. There is actually a sad story behind this great band. Ingo forever.

Helloween have set the genre of power metal with high and melodic vocals. Michael Kiske is the singer that has influenced a whole generation of singers. Listen to "Keeper of the seven keys", "I want out" and "Future World".

Michael Kiske took inspiration from Bruce Dickinson when they started in the middle 80s. He was often compared to him in those days
They still sound great! They just closed a huge Pumpkins United tour as mentioned earlier including an hour appearance at Rock in Rio. Iron Maiden were right when they said we were living in the golden years. Look up Unisonic to see Kiske and Hansen together after leaving Helloween before they returned. Kai Hansen "pink flying v" was the original vocalist in Helloween I believe.
Helloween 4 first albums (ep and three full length are all-time classic metal gems.They paved the way for european power metal and the guitarist Kai Hansen with the curly hair and red guitar here(who did also the vocals in the first ep and full length) sang a part in the studio version of Valhalla by Blind Guardian.

Legendary band... especially With the keepers albums. First taste of them is "I want out", but love "Keeper...", "Eagle fly free" sadly they got lost in the 90s.
….Kai and Michael left… and Ingo *RIP* on drums commited suicide, caused of depression and use of Alcohol and drugs.

They are kind of Germany's answer to maiden, with a touch of priest and the early 80s British metal scene combined. So many influences and an influence on pretty much all power metal bands of the last 30 years.

The fathers of "power metal", although it wasn't really called that back then. Been around since the 80's. The guitarist with the pink guitar left soon after this and started another band Gamma Ray, also worth checking out. Blood Religion would be a good Halloween song from them.

I had listening to all kind of metal songs...but Helloween is The Best of The Best..overall either song arrangement, voice, riffs : all instruments part was a killer, stage performance, skills.. for every single new recorded song improved the better of audio quality.
Vocals are a little smoother than Judas Priest but absolutely in the same vein yeah. Also, like Rob Halford, Michael Kiske here has also started sporting the full-bald head with age.

Helloween is the father of Power Metal
Somewhere between 1989 and 1997 I'd be drinking to this on every halloween. Oh yeah, it's a shame this lineup is no more. Only the bassist and the non singing guitarist left from this configuration now and as you'd expect the sound is quite... different, 30 years later. The singing guitarist, Kai formed Gamma Ray, as everyone is pointing out, and rejoined with this vocalist to form Unisonic.
Sad ... no Dr Stein or Keeper of the seven keys :(

Helloween has changed lot after after the years. Keeper of the seven keys 1 & 2 are absolute masterpieces, like S tier albums. But u should listen newer albums also. Like Master of the rings which was the first album with Deris. Also 7 Sinners and Gambling with the Devil which are in my opinion like very raw and heavy albums. Deris made the band to fans favorite again and I can understand why. Deris just has more sounds and can sing ballads, high and has also that voice which he uses in like song called "Kill it" and "The bells of the 7 hells"
Helloween were my entry band for symphonic metal! And not all of their tracks are serious, if you want a fun track, look up Dr Stein or Rise and Fall! Get well soon!

As a lifetime fan of this band, if you want something epic and long, definitelly try "keeper of the seven keys" and/or "The king for a 1000 years". If you want something short and strong, try "cry for freedom". And the most recent song and so awesome, with their three singers singing, try "pumpkins united" (live - to experience it better. Gretings and get better soon dude!

I really like your reaction about this song. That's how the Pumpkin Heads (Helloween Fans) react about this song. Helloween really the pioneer of Power Metal genre. They're from Hamburg, Germany. And FYI, Michael Kiske (the vocalist) is only 19 y.o. when they're recorded this album. I'm sure everybody amazed by his voice. But other members were great too. 4 thumbs to them (from both hands and feet 😜).
I really like you to do some reaction from Helloween's other songs. My best recomendation is from the album Keeper of The Seven Keys part II: Invitation + Eagle Fly Free (the first one is the intro, don't separate them) and Keeper of The Seven Keys track. I'm sure it will blow your head. 😁

The one of the guitarists in this video is Kai Hansen; he plays the red Jackson V. He started another band called Gamma Ray and they kick ass! German powermetal at its finest.
