I thought up until last year's november, that The Scarecrow and Let the Storm descend upon you were Avantasia's masterpieces (along with The Story ain't over)
But The Raven Child knocked all the songs and installed itself in the center of this triad.

I'll recommend Avantasia & Amanda Somerville - Farewell. Amanda was vocal coach and another good friend of Simon Simmons from Epica. Avantasia is all about making songs with guest vocalists singing in addition to their own frontman Tobias.
Maybe you are talking about a live version of Farewell... But on the Original it is Sharon Den Adel Who is singing along With Tobias Sammet.

Took my dad to see these guys back in May and he said it was one of the best shows hes ever seen, and mind you hes been going to concerts since the early 80s and has seen a ton of legendary bands in their prime
Holy shit I saw this in my inbox and immediately clicked! Bummed it's not the live version from 08 as it's an incredible performance, but still, ANY video of my favorite band is an instant win!

Super! I love them. Personal i prefer their first albums. More powerful, epic and less mainstream.
Tobias Summet manage to gather in his project some of the best metal vocalists (and artists) like M. Kiske from Helloween or Andre Matos (RIP) x Angra/Shaman. The albums contain masterpieces of Power Metal.
But in any case you should check Tobias x-band EDGUY later too. Most of the bands members play also in Avantasia's albums.
One of my favor Edguys songs is "The Pharaoh". Masterpiece.

Try "Twisted Mind" by Avantasia feat. Roy Khan, another legendary Norwegian singer, former singer of Kamelot. A voice as fascinating and strong as Marco's of Nightwish!

In all of their albums there are several vocalists and all of them accomplished and famous in the metal world and this is the brainchild of Tobias Sammet lead vocalist of Edguy.

Holy fudge...I just discovered this yesterday at work by accident and here you are...guess when you swim through the metal ocean long enough you're bound to swim around the same circles with others. I like the fact that It feels like I'm hearing Iron Maiden-Metallica at the same time though your White Snake with Beethoven comparrison works too. I think Tuomas secretly wrote the composition for them. It kind of has his style of EPICNESS you hear in Ghost Love Score or Greatest Show on Earth

Hell Yeah!! Avantasia! my favorite project/band of all time. I would recommend Sign of the Cross Live feat. Andre Matos, Jorn Lande, Bob Catley, Oliver Hartmann, Sascha, etc. Great performance. Another Reach out for the Lights feat Michael Kiske, Dying for an Angel feat Klaus Main (Scorpions').

I had the absolute blessing of seeing them live in Chicago back in May. Been a personal favorite of mine for years, I wasn’t about to miss their first North American tour! The band is the brainchild of one Tobias Sammett, whose original band, Ed Guy, I am no fan of. He employs many different guest singers and instrumentalists for each album. It’s fantastic stuff, this song wasn’t one I was really into until I saw them live and wondered why I hadn’t listened to it much before that! Welcome to Avantasia, get lost in this fantastic world!

O man, if you like Avantasia you definitely need to check out their original Metal Opera part 1 & 2. It’s two albums telling a fantasy story from start to finish. It has lots of amazing guest vocals and instruments, including the very best of the bizz. And if you want to react to one song from the opera, do The Tower. It’s a masterpiece.

@@meganega123 Depends on you actually. I got the wow factor from the live version i never got from the studio version. This song is what introduced me to Avantasia and i saw the live version first. I always prefer live performances.
You should try Haggard, perfect mix of classical music and Death Metal. They are from Germany like Avantasia. Maybe start with Awakening the Centuries or The Observer. But beware, your brain will be melting. ;-)
Well, he is definitely open for new things. I discovered them ages ago, liked their song Herr Mannelig especially, seen them live maybe 7 or 8 times since then.
Well, and after that, let's introduce him to some Ayreon and/or Star One, after all Arjen Lucassen uses Floor Jansen quite a lot as guest singer.
