He does it out of spite.
He knows gamers lose their minds at and mock his designs having so many belts and zippers... so he just keeps making more.
One time, some artists working on FFX were making fun of him for it, so what he did was he designed Lulu with a _dress made entirely out of belts_ to make their work modeling, texturing and animating it a nightmare.
