NIGHTWING vs GAMBIT
The concept of the SPBD web series is to take two super powered legends and make them battle! Every month we will release a new episode, where viewers will be able to vote to determine the winner. The show is hosted by Marisha Ray, with two debaters, Damian Beurer and Andy Liegl. Together they battle with their sci-fi/fantasy knowledge and comic wit to see who they think the winner will be.
The series is produced by Aaron Schoenke, Sean Schoenke and Nikolay Zamkovoy.

+Christopher DeGraw Nightwing isn't doing so hot nowadays. He lost to Damian Wayne, Lady Shiva, and Cassandra Cain. Even if they are top tier fighters, Dick lost to Harley Quinn and he was subdued by Penguin in the Arkham Series.

Having said that, the result seems pretty logical. Nightwing is a FAR better fighter than Gambit, and has a wider array of tools at his disposal. Gambit's kinetic blasts are very powerful, but he has to find Nightwing if he's going to hit him with them... and Nightwing is WAY stealthier, and agile enough to dodge them.

Gambit just fights at a higher level than Nightwing.

Or even more simply, recognize that Nightwing is a well-trained but normal human, and Gambit is an Alpha-level mutant.

The shield has the added effect of destabilizing touch-based abilities.

Has anyone ever noticed that Gambits inner suit that the jackat usually covers looks like the torso of a sentinel (The thing that hunts mutants, including gambit)

Nope! His spandex coloration is for a better reason than that!
See, his suit is most heavily armored in the torso, able to stop bullets.
However, to keep the suit light and flexible, the limbs have less armor.
To counteract this drawback, his costume is designed to be bright and noticeable in the areas that have more armor, to subconsciously draw fire toward those areas and away from his arms and legs.
Anyone thing Deadpool vs. Spiderman could be fun to see? They're both pretty hilarious, and both surprisingly resilient and badass (when Spiderman is portrayed correctly)

Cody Lakin They constantly fight/team up in the comics. It's not much of a fight between the two, Spiderman is far better a combatant, his spidersense, super agility, far superior fighting skills (later as he trains with the avengers and like EVERY SINGLE SUPERHERO TEAM OUT THERE!) and his uncanny ability to use science in his fights to gain an advantage gives Spiderman such a huge upper hand that Spiderman doesn't even consider Deadpool a threat and Deadpool doesn't even really like fighting Spiderman anyway. Since he gets his but kicked he prefers outlandish challenges like that one street dance off, a rapping contest, etc. Apparently that's how Deadpool likes to fight Spiderman

Batman himself could not beat Gambit. To go as far as to equate Nightwing to Gambit, grossly underrating his mutant abilities, then declaring Nightwing the victor is absolutely asinine. Gambits hypnotic charm is enough to win this fight without even throwing a punch. Gambit hasn't even reached his full potential, thankfully, (see New Son) else Gambit could basically think him away.

As you know him, if he can go toe-to-toe with Wolverine, who's a million times over, a better fighter than Nightwing, and beat him I'd say that's all the evidence you need. With his powers fully restored to his Omega level form, there's no comparison; he basically has god like powers. As the New Son, he completely destroyed earth (by accident) and obliterated the Dark Phoenix killing her. What's a simply human being like Nightwing going to do to stop that?

Depends on writer. Sometimes the rule is that it can't be touching anything living as well.Not to mention to blow objects up he typically has to hang onto them for awhile or else they just gain more kinetic force and don't explode. Doing so put him right in Grayson's range.
Tarbtano Actually that's no longer true. After his latest stint as a Marauder he can indeed charge living tissue. He did so recently in fact against one of The Lizards pets during a Spider-man/ X-Men team up.

NW has been fighting criminals since he was a little boy. He knows how they think and operate. The fight was over as before it started. Gambit lost when he stayed. The only way he could have won is lure NW into a trap, and then get out of there.Classic Gambit is not an endurance fighter, he's a hit and run, and NW knows how to defeat those types.

Here's the thing. Batman and Nightwing usually lose the first encounter and retreat to better study their enemy. Them winning in just a random encounter against someone with powers they have never seen before does not fit.
and gambit also never misses.. he could be dead several times then survive at the end by his own powers. I love batman and nightwing but no way they can retreat to better study about gambit. Even prof x and every mutants never understand what he really is.. still a lot of mysteries about gambit in the comic.

I am a HUGE Nightwing and Gambit fan. Which is why I was interested in this video. I do believe that Nightwing won based on popularity. Yes, Nightwing was trained by Batman. Nightwing is fast, agile, skilled, and smart. Nightwing is still only human though. Gambit is fast, skilled, agile, and very clever. Him being a mutant means he will not tire easily and will not get harmed easily because of his mutant powers.

I don’t know why, but for some reason this is my favorite episode.
Nightwing has the agility to keep up with Gambit's explosives and even with hypnotism charm, Nightwing will probably know it's going to happen. Also, most opponents Batman and Robin beat are mostly because of strategy and Gambit's strategy is just bad to keep up with Nightwing.
Gambit has superhuman agility and dexterity. this video is inaccurate because im sure nightwing would have eaten a card or 2. Nightwing is fast but hes not superhuman. sorry fanboys.

I'd have to agree with The92Ghost. In this situation, putting away all Marvel/DC bias, Gambit would win. Firstly, there would most likely not even be any confrontation. Nightwing, having received the call while apparently already on his motorcycle, would have arrived to find Gambit already gone. Secondly, raised by thieves, Gambit would know much more applicable combat tactics than his adversary, and he may have even been able to elude Nightwing's detection on his arrival as well.

Yea gonna have to debate this one, hate to say it but You guys seem to be forgetting all of Gambit's martial training. Fact he was an X-man and is one of the FEW people can go toe to toe with Wolverine of all people. He is a far better warrior with his staff then you sort of show, and while i realize is a popularity contest, i think just needs to be more accuracy in the portrayal of the fights. I'm ok with nightwing winning, just not ok with how it played out. Nightwing should have won do to tactics and gadgets not hand to hand combat because i have a hard to believing that Remy is a worse martial artist then dick is, but still amusing none the less.
I agree entirely on all the points you made. Gambit being trained and having powers should have given him a martial arts edge. One of Gambit's counters should have been redirecting the force of Nightwing's close quarters attacks. Even if the production crew was limited by the choreography that would be needed for these characters (they're both so agile), or something like that, they could have been more creative. Like someone else said, Gambit would have turned the puddles into land mines and Nightwing didn't use any smokescreens (what he should have opened with, even though it wouldn't look as good), knockout gas, electric/exploding wingdings/birdarangs/batarangs, expanding/solidifying foam (the tactic I think should have won since if Gambit wanted to get out of it, he'd have had to blow himself up), wires, or traps of any kind.
Gambit deserves an Alternate Ending.

Nightwing is considered the deadliest HUMAN because he has far exceeded super human Agility, Endurance, Acrobatics, and he was freaking BATMAN, He has all the martial arts training of Batman with every single martial arts training possible, Gambit is just a thug with mutant abilities and some combat abilities. This was a great representation of Nightwings skills as a combatant.

Screw attacks? yeah they're great. They do unbelievably deep research on the combatants, do a great animated fight, and after the battle explain exactly why the winning character won.
Ok, I understand the arguments for Gambit. He's a mutant. he's hyperkinetic. But the argument marvel fans always make when it comes to mutants is, "You need to account for their full potential". Also it is assumed that all mutants can beat all non-mutants simply because they are mutants. Everyone knows that the DC name for mutants is metahuman. This is because if they used the word mutant they would probably end up in court. Now anyone that follows Batman and his crew knows they deal with metahumans on a regular basis. Not only that but they win. Now I'm not saying Gambit doesn't kick butt. I think he was an awesome replacement for Longshot. But, you have to think of where each person rank in their own universe. To be honest I can't say where Gambit ranks. I do know that Nightwing has lead at least three teams including the Justice League, has beaten Batman and Deathstroke in H2H combat, is number seven on the ladder of Non-metahuman combatants (that only means I'm not including metahumans, not that he can't beat any of them), and is the greatest (that means no one is better) acrobat in the DC universe. He has every skill Batman has (minus photographic memory) plus has trained abroad with badass monks, invisible people and learned to fight blindfolded with a tribe in a fighting style that I can't remember how to spell but is the same style Eddy uses in Tekken. I apologize for any spelling mistakes. And by the way, I'm a Mr.Terric and Steel fan. They rock!

I know its hard to assess who is stronger being two different worlds so the ranking is a bit tough, but all you got are feats and strengths to where if it happened in r/l. Blade has failed to ambush Gambit and Gambit neutralized him with no hits on either of them. He beat Sabertooth with little effort. Whomps Daken and blows up his arm. Out reacts/defeats Jean Greys Danger Room Duplicate and even managed to kiss the duplicate making its head explode. Him and Wolverine fight ALL THE TIME and its usually a tie; but Gambit holds back a lot, but a few times he managed to put Wolverine in his place. He has knocked Juggernaut on his ass. Gambit took out two sentinels in quick succession. He has also assaulted a high-tech convoy complete with turrets, armed guards and an alien-tech escort. He also has a lot of cleverness when it comes to using his powers and not using his powers... I mean come on, he used his unrecognized energy signature on cables wrapped around War Machine to paint him as an enemy to Stark’s in-house security as he stole an Ironman suit. Another thing that was not accurate was Gambit's accuracy... he missed almost every shot. He has cut the tripwire on a nuclear device from 50ft away with a card before the user can react and hit the detonator. He has also just barely missed an old woman to disarm someone behind her while being choked... and bare in mind this is just the normal Gambit, not the Four Horsemen Death Gambit.

The DC and Marvel universes started to merge and people from the different places started squaring off. One of these square offs was Nightwing and Gambit. Gambit turned tail and Nightwing ended up in a fight with Lizard I think.

Second, Nightwing was trained by the Batman. He's smarter, faster, stronger, a better athlete, has much more combat training, has far more skills at his disposal, and is regarded as the greatest human acrobat in the DC universe. He's every bit the marksman that Gambit is and has mentally resisted more powerful telepaths than him. Dick represents the absolute peak of physical human perfection and has a genius intellect to boot. Gambit is a very formidable opponent in his own right but apart from his enhanced agility and energy powers he has no edge and is simply outclassed in every regard. Would be a hard fight but Nightwing eventually wins.

Yeah, I know all about Gambit's powers and took them into consideration. So since you literally just copied and pasted from the DC Database with no further explanation, let's go through each of these individually.
-Molecular Acceleration
Yes, I know about this, and I would actually call it Gambit's one distinct advantage in this scenario. If he where to really stand a chance of winning this fight it would have to be with this power. However, Gambit would still have to actually *hit* Nightwing, which is much easier said than done. And while Gambit is an expert marksman (one of many things Nightwing matches) Dick dodges fucking bullets on the regular. One smoke bomb and Nightwing disappears, only to pop up with a sudden trap or kick to the head. Destructive power is only as good as the person using it.
-Enhanced Agility
Like I said, Nightwing is regarded as the greatest human acrobat in the DC universe, with a level of agility, balance, and reflexes that borders on the superhuman. While his agility is not superhuman like Gambit's, it's damn close, and what's more he knows how to use it better. I'd call this a match.
-Static Interference
Okay? And Nightwing isn't a telepath. Next.

Mr sinister removed something that was wrong wit his mind (i don't remember what lol) but it released his full power and he was able to control energy by looking at objects. so he's very powerful, it's just not shown often.

the bigger the object, the longer it takes to charge BUT the bigger the explosion. Gambit could charge a car to take out a few city blocks but it would take him about an hour to do it. thats why he uses cards, they are small and easy to charge quickly

Both of the others are incorrect. While gambit is capable of charging the energy inside himself, he can't make his attacks explosive. He can only make himself more agile. He is able to charge any non-living item to be explosive, but the larger it is, the more time it takes. A card, a few seconds; a car, hours.
Also, as a side note, his ability to charge energy gives him minor psychic defense and mental manipulation. He can't outright mind control someone, but he can increase the impulses already within someone's brain (it's the reason he's such a catch with the ladies in the comics).
Since you seem to know what your talking about how long would it take fro gambit to charge nightwings suit,assuming that's what he wants to do.
