Epic Mickey is truly an underrated gem that I think deserves a modern remaster. If they just fixed that wonky camera, touched up the controls a big, gave the game full voice acting like the sequel and polished up the visuals, then I really do think it can be a masterpiece.
A good start would be to consider the changes the Japanese version brought. Camera fixes and the ability to skip the hub world projectors made that version already a great step in the right direction!

The darkest and most edgy things from Disney would be Black Cauldron, the perma-banned wartime Disney shorts and other things that the company has swept under the rug (there is much more than just Song of the South that Disney is refusing to stream that is truly forgotten). The darkest Disney moment is the time Mickey Mouse donned racist “blackface” and re-enacted the play version of Uncle Tom’s Cabin...

Epic Mickey is (pretty much) an underrated Disney masterpiece game. I wish there was an animated film based on Epic Mickey by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
I remember these games very fondly. It taught me quit a bit about Disneys' history. Which is something you don't't really see in a video game. I'll addmit it is a shame the trilogy didn't make a full circle with sequel ending on a cliffhanger. However it allows the fan base to step in and give the story a continuation and possibly an ending. Just need to look for it.
I'm a small aspiring writer and I'm looking to try and expand on the cliffhanger through a small, currently in-development project called Epic Mickey 3: The Grand Reunion. I want to release it with a few chapters on Wattpad.

It's ironic how the Epic Mickey games ended up getting forgotten. This means the game itself is in it's own game. Epic Mickyception. Side note, i just want to point out that all of that dark concept art must be in the Wasteland somewhere too.
I always imagined how the series were to move forward when there was hope for sequels: A Roger Rabbit-style crossover with WB and Fleischer, A land of the forgotten Direct-to-DVD characters, a world where you got to see scrapped versions of characters and stories and a prophecy where the oldest living creation of Walt would save the day and the plot twist is that it's neither Mickey or Oswald.
I never played the games unfortunately, but it's still fascinating learning about its history and how it reintroduced various forgotten characters like Oswald. That "Epic Donald" spinoff would've been really cool for bringing in characters from the Carl Barks comics.

What I meant to say is that if the Donald spinoff game became a real thing, it still would've been interesting to see how they would've included the comic characters/environment, like an alternate interpretation of them. "Legend of the Three Caballeros" is another decent example of including some comic elements into another medium.
Speaking of Kingdom Hearts if you know about the franchise’s history then you’ll know that Disney was initially hesitant to let Square Enix put Mickey in the game since they were unsure if it was going to be a hit or not which is why he has such a small role in the first game only appearing at the end, but when Kingdom Hearts did turn out to be a hit then they gave Square permission to give Mickey a bigger part in the sequel. I bring this up because I think it could be possible that the success of Kingdom Hearts could be what inspired Disney to make Epic Mickey in the first place, also Epic Mickey didn’t make Mickey a video game icon as you said we can thank Kingdom Hearts for that.
Firstly, Mickey Mouse is far from being an "icon" when it comes to video games instead of icons. Epic Mickey has nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts at all, so I'm not thanking them for anything. Secondly, Disney never intended to make Epic Mickey, it was originally a rejected idea. But then Disney bought the rights to Oswald and decided to give Junction Point the go ahead.

Epic Mickey was one of my favorite video games in my childhood, helping me pave the way to enjoy the Fallout franchise among its apocalyptic nature. One of my favorite experiences is just the breathtaking view of Tomorrow City, with its Tron-like essence and impressive lighting.
I remember watching the epic mickey files as a young kid dude!! Ahh.. good times. I loved these games dude, such amazing aesthetics and locations with the amazing premise of learning about these forgotten characters with Mickey. Thanks to Epic Mickey, I'm now an animation and classic cartoon nerd and Oswald is one of my favorite characters. I actually watched the epic mickey files to learn more about this which lead me to become an animation nerd! If anything, I hope they try to remake or remaster these games because I want to play them again. The premise of us being in the shoes of Mickey and learning about these old characters WITH him is absolutely fantastic, and I even remember my shock when I realized how similar wasteland and disneyland were in appearance. I loved the story, the characters, the locales, (mickeyjunk mountain is SOOO COOOL), and I love the purpose to have people remember these old characters in a fun game. I love this game man, it means alot to me.

Wow. This vid popped up on my recommended vids. I was one of the very early concept artists on this game. Weird to see it again. It's been a while. Glad to see quite a few people still dig it. It's funny....at the 14:13 you mention some of the leaked early concept art that hit the public. That actually hurt the studio a bit. That was early on. When we were told to really just cut loose. Aim for the fences. Get as crazy as we could. And if we had to pull back, we would. It generated SOO much buzz. People were REALLY excited for it. Excited that it looked so different than anything they'd ever seen from "DISNEY". Dark and really edgy. But.....when the game came out, very little of that was still in. And people/audiences were confused as to why. The "Why" was because it's disney. LOL. As an animator as well...I knew right when I heard 'cut loose'...that there was no way that was going to be the case. And that all this stuff was going to be pulled back. Drastically. And in the end it was. Because...again. Disney. :D Thanks for the vid. It was a fun romp down memor lane. :)

Epic Mickey Is going to have both games remastered from the ground up, so you'll might get a chance to revisit Wasteland after all these years ago, plus If the game do well you might also get a chance to also revisit The Epic Mickey Files and continue on If we ever get the 3rd game originally. Also; Oswald truly needs to appear In other games outside of just Epic Mickey alone cause the truly needs another gaming role. In Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, the whole musical cutscenes was only the Mad Doctor's thing, even in-game the characters were like "Really? This guy is singing?" whenever the Mad Doctor sung.
Unpopular Opinion: Epic Mickey *>* Kingdom Hearts Again, it's just my opinion, but the story and world of the original Epic Mickey just felt so much more in line with the legacy of respecting Disney's past and 2D animation with a simpler story while introducing old legends like Oswald, The Phantom Blot, and so many other forgotten characters to a brand new audience who never know them for decades. The dark aesthetic of making a dystopian Disneyland with other elements of the other parks was the perfect setting and really enhanced the world of the Wasteland and made the inhabits all the more depressing in their setting along with their tragic real-life history of being forgotten. The sequel had its moments too, the voice acting was great to finally hear the character's voices in full, but I will agree with most the story wasn't as good as the first and the musical cutscenes got a bit annoying. Kingdom Hearts story got confusing pretty fast after the original, and while I do love the blending of Disney with anime (And occasionally Final Fantasy), it got pretty overcomplicated and complex that I stopped following the games and stuck to the hardcore fans and experts to explain the proper way of following the story and lore throughout all the main and spinoff games. Such an underrated game, I absolutely love it and hope it gets more attention from Disney and animation fans alike. An HD remake of the original with fixing the technical problems, adding voice-acting, and an overall rehaul of the graphics and cutscenes for the next-gen consoles like the Switch would be awesome, but I highly doubt would happen since Junction Point is dead and Disney doesn't care about Epic Mickey anymore.
I never got to play the Epic Mickey games so I can't really comment on them but even with all the craziness Kingdom Hearts has gone through, I still enjoy it. I wouldn't say the gameplay is super amazing or anything but even with the more bashed titles a lot of ppl find them fun. I just hope one day I can play the Epic Mickey games bc they do look really interesting and cool.
I prefer Kingdom Hearts but you do have a point....To the unprepared, Kingdom Hearts's storyline can seem very complex, intertwined, secretive, and near philosophical. Sure, in some they give a summary of what happened prior; however, it fails to properly explain what happened before each game so that anyone can be caught up. I can wrap my head around it very easy and enjoy the gameplay thoroughly. My only complaint? I found the main character's first English voice actor to be annoying and cringy. Also, the music is gorgeous. I consider Epic Mickey to be equal in greatness. Maybe a future Kingdom Hearts game can have an Epic Mickey world as a way to promote a new Epic Mickey game. So, there is actually another flagship game series for Disney other than Kingdom Hearts. I don't know. I'm just a passionate fan of Disney games. No, ones made by Electronic Arts are not Disnry games. Those are digital slot machines.

I’m just saying There is next to little reason NOT to port this game to the switch. If they could get the Super Mario 3D games on, they can get Epic Mickey on there. Epic mickey is my favorite game of all time, it has such a big and special place in my heart and I still re-play it to this day! This video was an absolute delight, it always makes me so happy to see and hear others talk about this game. I have so many fond memories of this game, even with it's (at times horrible) controls + camera, it's still just so so special - and I really hope it may at least get a remaster, it's what it deserves!

The game that was Disney’s Pokémon and Fossil Fighters rip-off that got 2 DS games and a Wii game. Spectrobes DS and it’s sequel had such “iffy” controls that they are both just sitting untouched in my case where I am still at the beginning of both games. People ask me why I don’t sell them but those games aren’t worth enough to sell them and so they just sit there to make my DS/3DS collection bigger. Plus I like the box art.

My Ideas for an Epic Mickey Remake (potentially on Switch and other modern platforms): • Reanimate the cutscenes to look like Epic Mickey 2’s with voice acting. • Fix up the camera and controls so it feels smoother and easier to control. • Reintroduce abandoned concepts such as the bigger morality system, new enemies and unused areas (I.e., Wonderland and the Jug Pump) • Potentially change the story with bigger alternate endings based on the morality system and the Storm Blot concept. In addition to these ideas, the remake could be compiled in a trilogy game (similar to the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro remakes) with the completely remastered Epic Mickey, the “slightly altered to be better” Epic Mickey: The Power of Two, and the final Epic Mickey 3. Everyone would love it and it could be promoted by reintroducing Oswald into an existing Mickey TV series or create a new one starring him as Mickey’s half brother! Of course, since Disney Interactive is shut down, this may not come to pass.
I think you have a lot of great ideas. One idea that I’ve always thought would work if done correctly is take the first game and make it a series on Disney+. I would make it a 2D style show and while you would have to cut out aspects of the game I think it could work.
Only the first game has the greenlight for the remake; However, if it sells well, you KNOW Disney would want to greenlight a remake of the sequel or even just a completely new game.
It’s a shame what happened to the series and Junction Point but I thought of an idea to maybe revive it. Originally Warren Spector had an idea when Epic Mickey was released about making a film adaptation of the game but Disney rejected the idea, but now with modern cartoons today having big story arcs thru multiple seasons to the entire series I think it would be an amazing idea to revive Epic Mickey as a Disney+ series. Yes I know Disney is already making a Kingdom Hearts series for Disney+ but I think this concept would make an amazing episodic series with it being an action-adventure comedy-drama series similar to shows like Steven Universe or Adventure Time, they could even revive old concepts that didn’t make it into the game like one concept of Mickey turning into a paint/thinner monster and even take some concepts from other unproduced Disney projects like Maximum Horse Power or heck make an episode about that concept. I feel like this would be an amazing series that could drive up Disney+ subscriptions and could even be competition to WB/HBO Max’s Infinity Train... Oh yeah a remaster would work too. MAJOR UPDATE: As of 2024 we are actually getting a remake woooo! Now bring on that Disney+ series.
You had me from the very first line of the video. Epic Mickey has indeed been “my game” for years. Even though I have now completed it many, many times and gotten every possible collectible, I still think of it fondly and play it from time to time, though there is zero challenge to it at this point and the fetch quests drive me bonkers. I just remember the early days of playing the original game - all the late nights just soaking up that soundtrack and trying to figure out how to beat levels that repeatedly killed me. Epic Mickey is what sparked my interest in being an animator, it was the Epic Mickey Files that cemented it. When it was still airing, it got me looking into the history of animation, it was what got me to know about characters like Felix the Cat and (obviously) Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and it got me to watch show I would've never thought to watch. I owe a lot to Epic Mickey for how I draw, I owe a lot to you for where I'm at. I'd just like to say "Thank You" and I hope you have a great day.
I'm not even really a videogamer, but this game made me sit up and take notice. If nothing else, it was EPIC on the conceptual level, the 3D modeling of classic Disney animated characters, and idea of the game world itself. In the long run, making it a Wii exclusive was probably not the best move, and it could have benefited from some kind of Gold Edition that improved the flaws in game play and made it available for Xbox and Playstation. It is kind of ironic that after all the development, its history after hitting the store shelves was over in just about one year. Disney Interactive just gave up too quickly. Other media tie-ins for animation and comics would have helped, too. Thanks for the interesting observations.

I still remember the Epic Mickey Files. I loved that series so much that I revisit it every one in a while. And yes, I LOVE Epic Mickey. That's one of my favorite games of all time. At least one a year, I complete that game. My hope of a thitd game (or at least a conclusion in other game, like KH) still continues.
Epic Mickey will forever be my favorite game. I got it when I was 4 years old and now I'll be 15 in a few months, I still play it all the time. It makes me so happy to see others who love this game as much as I do.

Wow I certainly did not expect this video to pop out! Just like a couple other comments, I was around 14 when you finished the Epic Mickey Files and I was devastated that nobody really talked about the game after that. It makes me smile everytime i see people starting to bring it up again. I recently even replayed both EM 1 and 2. On another note, i was noticing Jim Dooley, the composer for EM, has been releasing a lot of the tracks for the game, both used and unused files. Even if they don't make another EM video game, I feel like creating a movie or a series would be an absolute success.

I remember buying epic Mickey at game stop when it was my birthday and when I played it, it was one of the greatest games I played, it’s just sad that they only made three games.
I remember how me and my dad would play it ALL the time when I was like five, it has been so long and I cant remember how old I was but how happy the experience was. I think if they were to remake the game it would be A LOT better than ever with the graphics and since there are better design teams and all that I think it could be a big hit again. It was a really smart to turn something that was all so happy we knew as kids and twist it around and give it a horrific scene. To marketing, this is smart as just the Disney franchise it's self is marketed to be so happy, but turning it upside down? I think if they gave it another chance now since we are more modern, this could be perfect.
I cannot describe how excited I was when this video came out. I am a fan of yours because of the epic mickey files and hearing you talk about epic mickey yet again really gave me nostalgic feelings.
I think there was a weird sort of competition between Epic Mickey on the Nintendo Wii, and the Kingdom Hearts games on Playstation. Both feature Mickey's history prominently and KH 2 even had Mickey in his old black and white world with the older forgotten characters too. So it almost felt like two separate Mickey Mouse backstories competing to see which was cannon. As someone who played both games and loved both franchises, I just wish there had been some kind of subtle tie in between the two worlds.

I definitely remember getting the first Epic Mickey game for Christmas and beating it in October. It was a really great game and I replayed twice and actually managed to accomplish more side quests than I did my first time playing. I even own the second game. What a great way to mark the 10th anniversary of Epic Mickey. Such a shame it ended on a cliffhanger.

Maybe one day a remaster, or reimaginig will be made, I know that if I ever get the chance I will leap on the opportunity, but don't get any hopes up, a remake may be a long way off, if it ever happens. For now whether or not it does, remember this game.
I always wondered what would be the wonderland and beanstalk parts of the game that were cut would also be like and how they would contribute to the story.
What annoys me is that Epic Mickey had the potential to be another Kingdom Hearts to Disney, yet it was tossed aside. Also, a lot people overlook that Kingdom Hearts covers dark topics and themes. In one game, in order for a Master to recreate a weapon that could call upon the true Kingdom Hearts by forcing his apprentice to fight dark entities he was underprepared to handle. He extracted the malice from his apprentice's heart to create entity in the hopes that their physical conflict with each other would be enough to forcibly create a new instance of that forgotten weapon. However, Epic Mickey seems like it takes a more direct approach in including dark themes in the game in it being more visually apparent. In Kingdom Hearts, the dark themes are impacting when it is conceptually conveyed. I wish Disney would bite the bullet and allow darker and more serious stories to be told in games.
I love epic mickey i can remember the day i got it for Christmas in 2010 Even i remembered the time in 2017 in summer i beat that game over 10 times! And yes i remember the epic mickey files, and forgot to mention i still have my copy!
This game is so deserving of a remastering, truly one of the most undervalued gems in its class. It’s always been my favorite game for Wii, loved the visuals and the lore, and would be first in line for a remastered version.

There are three games though. The Wii original, Wii U sequel, and 3DS sequel. I have the 3DS game and I played the Wii game.

I remember first seeing the teaser poster for Epic mickey at Walmart and thinking it was the most dark and EDGY thing I've seen from Disney.
The darkest and most edgy things from Disney would be Black Cauldron, the perma-banned wartime Disney shorts and other things that the company has swept under the rug (there is much more than just Song of the South that Disney is refusing to stream that is truly forgotten). The darkest Disney moment is the time Mickey Mouse donned racist “blackface” and re-enacted the play version of Uncle Tom’s Cabin...

A remake developed by Purple Lamp, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, is scheduled for release on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S by THQ Nordic in 2024.
Epic Mickey is (pretty much) an underrated Disney masterpiece game. I wish there was an animated film based on Epic Mickey by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

I remember these games very fondly. It taught me quit a bit about Disneys' history. Which is something you don't't really see in a video game.
I'll addmit it is a shame the trilogy didn't make a full circle with sequel ending on a cliffhanger. However it allows the fan base to step in and give the story a continuation and possibly an ending. Just need to look for it.

I discovered Epic Mickey through a poster in a game shop and your Epic Mickey videos. They are some of my favorite video games. And I love Oswald and Mickey
It's ironic how the Epic Mickey games ended up getting forgotten. This means the game itself is in it's own game. Epic Mickyception.
Side note, i just want to point out that all of that dark concept art must be in the Wasteland somewhere too.
I always imagined how the series were to move forward when there was hope for sequels: A Roger Rabbit-style crossover with WB and Fleischer, A land of the forgotten Direct-to-DVD characters, a world where you got to see scrapped versions of characters and stories and a prophecy where the oldest living creation of Walt would save the day and the plot twist is that it's neither Mickey or Oswald.

I never played the games unfortunately, but it's still fascinating learning about its history and how it reintroduced various forgotten characters like Oswald. That "Epic Donald" spinoff would've been really cool for bringing in characters from the Carl Barks comics.

What I meant to say is that if the Donald spinoff game became a real thing, it still would've been interesting to see how they would've included the comic characters/environment, like an alternate interpretation of them. "Legend of the Three Caballeros" is another decent example of including some comic elements into another medium.
Now this is something to remember. Almost like a revive of the epic mickey files itself. More focused on the history of the game itself.
Speaking of Kingdom Hearts if you know about the franchise’s history then you’ll know that Disney was initially hesitant to let Square Enix put Mickey in the game since they were unsure if it was going to be a hit or not which is why he has such a small role in the first game only appearing at the end, but when Kingdom Hearts did turn out to be a hit then they gave Square permission to give Mickey a bigger part in the sequel. I bring this up because I think it could be possible that the success of Kingdom Hearts could be what inspired Disney to make Epic Mickey in the first place, also Epic Mickey didn’t make Mickey a video game icon as you said we can thank Kingdom Hearts for that.
Firstly, Mickey Mouse is far from being an "icon" when it comes to video games instead of icons. Epic Mickey has nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts at all, so I'm not thanking them for anything.
Secondly, Disney never intended to make Epic Mickey, it was originally a rejected idea. But then Disney bought the rights to Oswald and decided to give Junction Point the go ahead.

Epic Mickey was one of my favorite video games in my childhood, helping me pave the way to enjoy the Fallout franchise among its apocalyptic nature. One of my favorite experiences is just the breathtaking view of Tomorrow City, with its Tron-like essence and impressive lighting.
I remember watching the epic mickey files as a young kid dude!! Ahh.. good times.
I loved these games dude, such amazing aesthetics and locations with the amazing premise of learning about these forgotten characters with Mickey. Thanks to Epic Mickey, I'm now an animation and classic cartoon nerd and Oswald is one of my favorite characters.
I actually watched the epic mickey files to learn more about this which lead me to become an animation nerd!
If anything, I hope they try to remake or remaster these games because I want to play them again.
The premise of us being in the shoes of Mickey and learning about these old characters WITH him is absolutely fantastic, and I even remember my shock when I realized how similar wasteland and disneyland were in appearance.
I loved the story, the characters, the locales, (mickeyjunk mountain is SOOO COOOL), and I love the purpose to have people remember these old characters in a fun game.

I was one of the very early concept artists on this game. Weird to see it again. It's been a while. Glad to see quite a few people still dig it.
It's funny....at the 14:13 you mention some of the leaked early concept art that hit the public.
That actually hurt the studio a bit.
That was early on. When we were told to really just cut loose. Aim for the fences. Get as crazy as we could. And if we had to pull back, we would.
It generated SOO much buzz. People were REALLY excited for it. Excited that it looked so different than anything they'd ever seen from "DISNEY".
Dark and really edgy.
But.....when the game came out, very little of that was still in. And people/audiences were confused as to why.
The "Why" was because it's disney. LOL.
As an animator as well...I knew right when I heard 'cut loose'...that there was no way that was going to be the case. And that all this stuff was going to be pulled back. Drastically.
And in the end it was. Because...again. Disney. :D

Did ya hear the news? Epic Mickey Is going to have both games remastered from the ground up, so you'll might get a chance to revisit Wasteland after all these years ago, plus If the game do well you might also get a chance to also revisit The Epic Mickey Files and continue on If we ever get the 3rd game originally. Also; Oswald truly needs to appear In other games outside of just Epic Mickey alone cause the truly needs another gaming role.

Evil and you kept me entertained ever since but revisiting these now for the occasion truly does feel abit nostalgia In my heart and shows that you truly came a long way. In Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, the whole musical cutscenes was only the Mad Doctor's thing, even in-game the characters were like "Really? This guy is singing?" whenever the Mad Doctor sung.
Unpopular Opinion:
Epic Mickey *>* Kingdom Hearts
Again, it's just my opinion, but the story and world of the original Epic Mickey just felt so much more in line with the legacy of respecting Disney's past and 2D animation with a simpler story while introducing old legends like Oswald, The Phantom Blot, and so many other forgotten characters to a brand new audience who never know them for decades. The dark aesthetic of making a dystopian Disneyland with other elements of the other parks was the perfect setting and really enhanced the world of the Wasteland and made the inhabits all the more depressing in their setting along with their tragic real-life history of being forgotten. The sequel had its moments too, the voice acting was great to finally hear the character's voices in full, but I will agree with most the story wasn't as good as the first and the musical cutscenes got a bit annoying.
Kingdom Hearts story got confusing pretty fast after the original, and while I do love the blending of Disney with anime (And occasionally Final Fantasy), it got pretty overcomplicated and complex that I stopped following the games and stuck to the hardcore fans and experts to explain the proper way of following the story and lore throughout all the main and spinoff games.
Such an underrated game, I absolutely love it and hope it gets more attention from Disney and animation fans alike. An HD remake of the original with fixing the technical problems, adding voice-acting, and an overall rehaul of the graphics and cutscenes for the next-gen consoles like the Switch would be awesome, but I highly doubt would happen since Junction Point is dead and Disney doesn't care about Epic Mickey anymore.

I never got to play the Epic Mickey games so I can't really comment on them but even with all the craziness Kingdom Hearts has gone through, I still enjoy it. I wouldn't say the gameplay is super amazing or anything but even with the more bashed titles a lot of ppl find them fun. I just hope one day I can play the Epic Mickey games bc they do look really interesting and cool.

I prefer Kingdom Hearts but you do have a point....To the unprepared, Kingdom Hearts's storyline can seem very complex, intertwined, secretive, and near philosophical. Sure, in some they give a summary of what happened prior; however, it fails to properly explain what happened before each game so that anyone can be caught up. I can wrap my head around it very easy and enjoy the gameplay thoroughly. My only complaint? I found the main character's first English voice actor to be annoying and cringy. Also, the music is gorgeous.
I consider Epic Mickey to be equal in greatness. Maybe a future Kingdom Hearts game can have an Epic Mickey world as a way to promote a new Epic Mickey game. So, there is actually another flagship game series for Disney other than Kingdom Hearts.

Epic mickey is my favorite game of all time, it has such a big and special place in my heart and I still re-play it to this day! This video was an absolute delight, it always makes me so happy to see and hear others talk about this game. I have so many fond memories of this game, even with it's (at times horrible) controls + camera, it's still just so so special - and I really hope it may at least get a remaster, it's what it deserves!

The game that was Disney’s Pokémon and Fossil Fighters rip-off that got 2 DS games and a Wii game. Spectrobes DS and it’s sequel had such “iffy” controls that they are both just sitting untouched in my case where I am still at the beginning of both games. People ask me why I don’t sell them but those games aren’t worth enough to sell them and so they just sit there to make my DS/3DS collection bigger. Plus I like the box art.

My Ideas for an Epic Mickey Remake (potentially on Switch and other modern platforms):
• Reanimate the cutscenes to look like Epic Mickey 2’s with voice acting.
• Fix up the camera and controls so it feels smoother and easier to control.
• Reintroduce abandoned concepts such as the bigger morality system, new enemies and unused areas (I.e., Wonderland and the Jug Pump)
• Potentially change the story with bigger alternate endings based on the morality system and the Storm Blot concept.
In addition to these ideas, the remake could be compiled in a trilogy game (similar to the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro remakes) with the completely remastered Epic Mickey, the “slightly altered to be better” Epic Mickey: The Power of Two, and the final Epic Mickey 3. Everyone would love it and it could be promoted by reintroducing Oswald into an existing Mickey TV series or create a new one starring him as Mickey’s half brother! Of course, since Disney Interactive is shut down, this may not come to pass.

I think you have a lot of great ideas. One idea that I’ve always thought would work if done correctly is take the first game and make it a series on Disney+. I would make it a 2D style show and while you would have to cut out aspects of the game I think it could work.

Only the first game has the greenlight for the remake; However, if it sells well, you KNOW Disney would want to greenlight a remake of the sequel or even just a completely new game.

It’s a shame what happened to the series and Junction Point but I thought of an idea to maybe revive it. Originally Warren Spector had an idea when Epic Mickey was released about making a film adaptation of the game but Disney rejected the idea, but now with modern cartoons today having big story arcs thru multiple seasons to the entire series I think it would be an amazing idea to revive Epic Mickey as a Disney+ series. Yes I know Disney is already making a Kingdom Hearts series for Disney+ but I think this concept would make an amazing episodic series with it being an action-adventure comedy-drama series similar to shows like Steven Universe or Adventure Time, they could even revive old concepts that didn’t make it into the game like one concept of Mickey turning into a paint/thinner monster and even take some concepts from other unproduced Disney projects like Maximum Horse Power or heck make an episode about that concept. I feel like this would be an amazing series that could drive up Disney+ subscriptions and could even be competition to WB/HBO Max’s Infinity Train... Oh yeah a remaster would work too.
MAJOR UPDATE: As of 2024 we are actually getting a remake woooo! Now bring on that Disney+ series.
You had me from the very first line of the video. Epic Mickey has indeed been “my game” for years. Even though I have now completed it many, many times and gotten every possible collectible, I still think of it fondly and play it from time to time, though there is zero challenge to it at this point and the fetch quests drive me bonkers. I just remember the early days of playing the original game - all the late nights just soaking up that soundtrack and trying to figure out how to beat levels that repeatedly killed me. It’s my favorite video game ever. I tried to like EM2, but it just wasn’t the same.

Epic Mickey is what sparked my interest in being an animator, it was the Epic Mickey Files that cemented it. When it was still airing, it got me looking into the history of animation, it was what got me to know about characters like Felix the Cat and (obviously) Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and it got me to watch show I would've never thought to watch. I owe a lot to Epic Mickey for how I draw, I owe a lot to you for where I'm at. I'd just like to say "Thank You" and I hope you have a great day.
I'm not even really a videogamer, but this game made me sit up and take notice. If nothing else, it was EPIC on the conceptual level, the 3D modeling of classic Disney animated characters, and idea of the game world itself. In the long run, making it a Wii exclusive was probably not the best move, and it could have benefited from some kind of Gold Edition that improved the flaws in game play and made it available for Xbox and Playstation. It is kind of ironic that after all the development, its history after hitting the store shelves was over in just about one year. Disney Interactive just gave up too quickly. Other media tie-ins for animation and comics would have helped, too. Thanks for the interesting observations.

Wow I certainly did not expect this video to pop out! Just like a couple other comments, I was around 14 when you finished the Epic Mickey Files and I was devastated that nobody really talked about the game after that. It makes me smile everytime i see people starting to bring it up again. I recently even replayed both EM 1 and 2.
On another note, i was noticing Jim Dooley, the composer for EM, has been releasing a lot of the tracks for the game, both used and unused files.
Even if they don't make another EM video game, I feel like creating a movie or a series would be an absolute success.

I have an "Epic Mickey" game on the Wii but haven't played for it since about the Christmas of 2012 or 2013. I might think about revisiting it again.
I remember how me and my dad would play it ALL the time when I was like five, it has been so long and I cant remember how old I was but how happy the experience was. I think if they were to remake the game it would be A LOT better than ever with the graphics and since there are better design teams and all that I think it could be a big hit again.
It was a really smart to turn something that was all so happy we knew as kids and twist it around and give it a horrific scene. To marketing, this is smart as just the Disney franchise it's self is marketed to be so happy, but turning it upside down? I think if they gave it another chance now since we are more modern, this could be perfect.

I remember the Epic Mickey Files series from a few years ago, I think it was what got me into Epic Mickey in the first place.
I think there was a weird sort of competition between Epic Mickey on the Nintendo Wii, and the Kingdom Hearts games on Playstation. Both feature Mickey's history prominently and KH 2 even had Mickey in his old black and white world with the older forgotten characters too. So it almost felt like two separate Mickey Mouse backstories competing to see which was cannon.
As someone who played both games and loved both franchises, I just wish there had been some kind of subtle tie in between the two worlds.

I used to watch your epic mickey files all the time way back. Really glad to see you talk about it some more all these years later!
I definitely remember getting the first Epic Mickey game for Christmas and beating it in October. It was a really great game and I replayed twice and actually managed to accomplish more side quests than I did my first time playing. I even own the second game. What a great way to mark the 10th anniversary of Epic Mickey. Such a shame it ended on a cliffhanger.
Honestly I really wanna try out these games because of you also I really wish those new projects were made the Donald and Kart spin offs sound well epic

Maybe one day a remaster, or reimaginig will be made, I know that if I ever get the chance I will leap on the opportunity, but don't get any hopes up, a remake may be a long way off, if it ever happens.

I always wondered what would be the wonderland and beanstalk parts of the game that were cut would also be like and how they would contribute to the story.
What annoys me is that Epic Mickey had the potential to be another Kingdom Hearts to Disney, yet it was tossed aside. Also, a lot people overlook that Kingdom Hearts covers dark topics and themes. In one game, in order for a Master to recreate a weapon that could call upon the true Kingdom Hearts by forcing his apprentice to fight dark entities he was underprepared to handle. He extracted the malice from his apprentice's heart to create entity in the hopes that their physical conflict with each other would be enough to forcibly create a new instance of that forgotten weapon. However, Epic Mickey seems like it takes a more direct approach in including dark themes in the game in it being more visually apparent. In Kingdom Hearts, the dark themes are impacting when it is conceptually conveyed. I wish Disney would bite the bullet and allow darker and more serious stories to be told in games.
I love epic mickey i can remember the day i got it for Christmas in 2010
Even i remembered the time in 2017 in summer i beat that game over 10 times!
And yes i remember the epic mickey files, and forgot to mention i still have my copy!
This game is so deserving of a remastering, truly one of the most undervalued gems in its class. It’s always been my favorite game for Wii, loved the visuals and the lore, and would be first in line for a remastered version.
