I like the design being more classic, fits with the theme of going back to the forgotten era by having Mickey being similar to what he was around that era.
Could you imagine if a mom or dad gave their child Epic Mickey for a reward such as behaving at Disney World, only to see their favorite mouse melting!?! That would've been traumatizing!
Sometimes I wish that this series used forgotten toons from other studios. But after reading about the exhaustive and expensive rigamarole it was for The Walt Disney Company to use other studios' characters for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, I can imagine they'd not want to do it again. I actually got into an argument about whether Wasteland was only for forgotten Disney characters. I asked what about the forgotten toons that were from other companies. One of the people replied, "Not Yen Sid's problem."
I mean, Rebrushed could probably add some public domain characters, but yeah, I think Disney would want Epic Mickey to be uniquely Disney experience. As for where the other lost toons go, maybe all the studios have their own version of the Wasteland?
Side note. Ortensia and Fanny are not only two different characters. But both originate from the original cartoons. Ortensia is not a junction point creation. But her name is cuz of junction point. Her original name (as infrequent as it was said) was Saddy
I think that Ortensia was supposed to be a combination of both Sadie & Fanny, although obviously she most closely resembled Sadie. So I think the character design & half of the personality is 1920s Disney, and the name & other half of the personality is Junction Point
Actually the grim reaper type character is the phantom blot a forgotten mickey antagonist who was thought to be added in epic mickey but they decided to add an original character instead of an already existing forgotten character hence why we got the blot
In the final game he was sort of an anti-hero that reluctantly helped Mickey. The only really villainous thing he does is imply that he was planning on stealing Mickey's heart before he had a change of heart
the cat was in some later Oswald shorts as a love interest, but she had a different name there (though I can't remember her original name off the top of my head). Apparently, the developers renamed her Ortensia so her name would start with the same letter as Oswald, like Mickey and Minnie or Donald and Daisy do.
Yes, I remember reading that somewhere. Apparently Ortensia was a combination of both of Oswald's love interests, but I guess the cat was just more prevalent.
Even though I don’t think it would ever get made but it would be so cool if someone really went all in and used the old horrifying concept arts and used all of the scrapped levels to make it a dark Epic Mickey. It would be cool but I don’t think that would ever happen

True, it does fit the theme more then trying to lean into the edgy factor
Could you imagine if a mom or dad gave their child Epic Mickey for a reward such as behaving at Disney World, only to see their favorite mouse melting!?! That would've been traumatizing!
I mean, that is true. It's kinda hard to do something mature or edgy with the world's most iconic character that appeals to kids
Honestly, I'd LOVE to see an Epic Mickey with all the unused concepts and especially the leaked concept art
Hopefully Rebrushed or a sequel uses some of these!
Really glad they didn't go with the skinny design.
Yeah, imo it's a bit too edgy
@@AnimationsDownUnder far too edgy
It kinda makes Mickey look like Yakko from Animaniacs, just without the antenna ears and whisker tuffs.
@@lelandatkinson5740 it does doesn't it.
Also glad they didn’t go with it. I don’t think it is edgy. I think it’s just ugly.

It’s dr eggman before eggman even existed.
Huh, I never made that connection, I guess you're right! They both experiment on animals as well.

If Mickey wasn’t a top notch kids icon we definitely would be seeing these darker character designs
Yeah, definitely. Disney wouldn't make anything like the Mad Doctor or Runaway Brain today, that's for sure!
The scrapped skinny taller Mickey looks like Yakko Warner from "Animaniacs."
Yeah, he does a bit.
Actually the grim reaper type character is the phantom blot a forgotten mickey antagonist who was thought to be added in epic mickey but they decided to add an original character instead of an already existing forgotten character hence why we got the blot
Yeah, I think they also removed him so people wouldn't mix up the two Blots
@@AnimationsDownUnder the second blot as in storm blot fusion thing

The childhood of most italian kids
If only there were something like the Topolino Magazine in the rest of the world
I have the epic Mickey art book and I loved the darker designs, though I understand why they didn’t use them
Yeah, they're definitely cool to look at
... Oswald wasn't a villain? I never finished the game, but i coulda sworn he was an enemy of some kind that gave you trouble up until near the end.
In the final game he was sort of an anti-hero that reluctantly helped Mickey. The only really villainous thing he does is imply that he was planning on stealing Mickey's heart before he had a change of heart
I’d think it be nice if there were any files in rebrushed, they should put a “REJECTED” stamp on it in reference to the pitch
That'd be a cool detail!

7:08 Just FYI the music is slightly too loud here compaired to your voice. At least with headphones.
Yeah, sorry about that, I've gotta make sure the music in the videos is quiet enough it doesn't detract from me talking.

Yeah, that'd be cool to see. Seems unlikely from Disney though, and a fan game in the scale of Epic Mickey would take a ton of effort to pull off
Something tells me your next video is gonna be on the new announcements from today
I'm sorry what?!?! Epic Mickey Rebrushed news? I feel like my comments section is how I'm gonna find things out now :D
@@AnimationsDownUnder Yep! The official release date is September 24th (at least in America), and we're getting a really cool collectors edition!
