    This was one of the best sessions I’ve seen about the experiences of an advisor. I have a second interview next week, so as I am preparing, I came across this post. Again, very informative, keep posting, thanks.

    great video, i’m binging all of your content about academic advising. i’ve been an advisor going on 10 years now but was in recruiting & admissions for 5 years prior to that. my experience has varied depending on the institution, universities in texas pay less than community colleges because of how our state funds public education (seriously, our lawmakers are the worst). you’ve inspired me to think about posting about my experiences, too! keep doing the good work and being an advocate for your students!

    Hey hey... thank you for posting your video. I have a school counseling degree. But Looking for new challenges outside of public schools. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your experiences at an HBCU. I'd love to move in that direction of an HBCU as well.

    Yes, I would love a series or " A Day in the Life of an Academic Advisor". My 3 biggest Questions & Concerns as I apply to AA job posts are 1st: How to sail through the interview Q & A? 🙏🏽😊and 2nd: How to keep up with all the various Faculties' regulations, policy changes etc & their respective course requirements or are you assigned students enrolled in related faculties? For ex., Do you have to sit with some students and register them in courses to get them on track to meet graduation requirements? And/Or help with career research for life after grad? Last Q🙏🏽: Do you have a regular caseload status update with a supervisor to ensure no student is left behind or reporting system? Thank you in advance for answering any of my questions, even one. Have an awesome Spring.🌷

    Wonderful video! I have a bachelor's in political science and I'm looking for positions at my local community colleges. I was also recently accepted into the MPP program at GA State. Gonna work full-time and do my Master's part time.

    Thanks for sharing your experience & insight🙌🏽 How do you juggle work, family & PhD & still look fresh ( I would look haggard (tbh)? Please share another video on time management & juggling it all.

    Yes! Please continue making these videos. It’s truly helpful. I’m currently an English teacher & I’m making a transition into advising. I have a bachelors in communications as well with a broadcast journalism background. I got accepted into a grad program for higher Ed and I start in January. I’m super excited, but also nervous! I graduated in undergrad in 2015 & I hope I do well in my MS program. Do you recommend that I find an advisor position while also going to school for my MS? I’ve been kind of back and forth with myself, but would love to know your thoughts! Take care!

    Hello ! I just came across your video because I am interested of being an academic advisor. I was going to get my degree in education but my university ended up making some changes and I had to drop the program. I only needed my clinicals and take my certification exams. I also knew that academic advising would be good I will be graduation with a BASS and minor in Spanish. Do you think I will qualify to at least get my feet into something similar to that ?

    Today my academic advisor asked me about strategies to develop academic advising from the perspective of students, especially for those unreachable students who simply do not visit their advisors even though their academic level is poor. Already I see a gap between the student and the advisor in my college. Any ideas?

    Hi 👋🏾 I am a third grade teacher and I’m thinking about switching to academic advising. As a teacher, I have no work/life balance. Do you feel like you have a good work/life balance in your position?

    • @bianca_badu
      @bianca_badu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely. But I think it really depends on how supported you are at your school of choice. My supervisor is understanding so they support me in my decision to prioritize my family first which creates a nice work/life balance for me. Also, when I clock out of work I don’t respond to work emails until I clock back in. This allows me to separate work from home as well
