FYI …..settings is spelled wrong in your title. Just noticed that unless you did that on purpose. Love your videos they are excellent and very informative. Thanks
Very Informative video. However, I would like to know how you got into some of the displayed screens like the one at 6:16. I can get into the camera tab, but the one's you show seem to be more specific. I just couldn't figure out how you brought those screens onto the screen.
Sean Wow, incredible flight and distance test! The new Air 3 sure has improved a lot of the functionality compared to my Air 2😱. Thank you for the beautiful flight and distance test🙏👏👏.
@@JakeSloan quick question, I have the original mavic 3 and the tele lens is basically unusable. I can’t get the pro but I could sell it and get the air 3 for the 70mm lens. Would you think that would be a good move? I do real estate and various other content shots
I heard a S&R guy on a webinar say he uses Subtitles because you can glean geolocation info from that so if he is reviewing some video later and finds a frame where there is a lost subject he can then find out exactly where they are/were from that .srt file.
Jake, thanks for the very informative video. I'm a new drone pilot, 107 certified, and was wondering how your max altitude was set to 3000+ ft. My RC 2 , with Air 3, only goes up to 1640 ft and as I am going to be flying in western Maine, need more altitude on occasion. On a similar point, we are constrained to 400 Ft AGL by regulation. The altitude registered in the controller is however, 400 above the home point, unless I am mistaken. So if I fly upslope any distance, I'll excede that limitation unless I bump up my max altitude allowed (and back to the 1640 ft limit i presently have). Comments and guidance appreciated.
It will only allow you to set the attitude that high in areas where there are no nearby airspace restrictions. I can’t set it that high in many places up here as well.
Jake, thanks again for your reply. May I ask another question regarding audio? I will be filming the start of a local race and want the audio with a quick shot sequence. I can t seem to get a sync point established before the fly away maneuver starts as recording begins when I press the start button. Is there some way around this? Thanks again in advance…
I just discovered your TH-cam channel last week, as I wish to come back to using drones. Great review! Quick question, can you photograph from the two lenses at once ? I do not find any information about this. Thanks
Wow Jake, your subscribers said "wait and do a deep dive Air 3 video, instead of a quick impressions - and you're cranking them put now! Great content for DJI's newest. This is my "pick one drone to have on a Desert Island" 🏝 - still not sure how I charge batteries on the island though. Solar power? Wind? Its a work in progress for sure.
Excellent tutorial, thank you. Question: what Gain & Expo settings are used by the Air 3 with the Intelligent Flight Modes (i.e. FocusTrack, QuickShots, MasterShots, Waypoint Flight)? Does it use the Remote's Flight Mode Settings whatever may be selected for the flight (Cine, Normal or Sport), or does it use other settings?
I don't know what gain and expo settings it uses in automated/smart flight modes, we don't have access to that information. It definitely uses something between normal and sport mode settings
Nice video! I still don't know why the mavic 3 doesn't have the option adjust the noise reduction and sharpness in camera, while every other drone does have it. Sometimes, even the Dlog is very oversharpend.
hi /jake very good review of dji air3 ... alot of you tubers just bash and put this drone down but glad you don't...one big question ,,, is there a choice in which camera you will be shooting with ... there are 2 cameras but in settings i dont see how you can pick the one you want to use ....or do they both shoot at the same time ....i have only flown a couple of times but i think you should be able to use one camera at a time .. ..tele camera or the other . do you have advice please ...thanks again d
Hey Jake, nice job 👍 , i have bought the air 3 and i would like to make some photos prints in A2 . Do you think the 12 megapixels will be good for the job ??
Question about Peaking Level. You recommend to set it to High. I found Low setting to be much more accurate for acquiring the correct focus. Why do you prefer High?
@@JakeSloan Thanks for clarification, Jake. In High I see almost everything is red🙂. But in most situations I simply set the infinity in MF and leave it there. But it is always good to have Peaking when needed for close focus.
Thanks for the video Jake! I am still wondering which settings I should use when I want to capture hyperlapse videos of the aurora in Norway 🙊 can you please let us know which settings you used with the Mavic 3 Pro?
Hey Jake!! Just subbed! May I trouble you to ask what lens you are using when you are the focus? (in the orange jacket - intro for example). I am a TH-camr myself and would love to achieve that blurry background that you create. Thanks Jake!
Jake, Greatly appreciate your time & effort creating such a detailed video. You are making such a positive impact of my drone photography. A GREAT HELP! I note the bright orange jacket you're wearing. Brand & where to purchase would be appreciated. Thanks...

Hi Jake. Are you getting in drone footage video noise/grainy? And how to avoid it? I have Air3, filming on 4k30 shutter 60, dlog m, nd freewell split filters.
Can you update a home point at the end of a active track? Meaning can I start at one location and end at a different location put home point at the end location?
i m totally beginner.I ust purchased DJI AIR 3 WITH RC-2 pls advice or can share any link where i can understand that "how i rotate my drone perfectly around a subject like a bride/groom but in low lever where both of hum body visible clearly u will b grateful to all of us
Hello Jake, bought couple of weeks ago the AIR 3 and playing around with the settings and ND filters. What I was wondering (and if its normal) why the shutter speed doubles to get a balanced exposure (is significantly higher) when shooting in DLOG-M compared to normal mode (found out during testing some ND filters). Would say its just a software thingy and not influencing the shutter speed?
don't use auto settings on shutter, always make sure your shutter is locked at 2x your frame rate and then set ISO as low as possible and select the right ND filter to get a good exposure
Thanks. I understand. Not sure if you know what i meant but for instance if I shoot in 4k 30fps with ND32 to get a shutter speed of 1/60s in normal mode...when switching to Dlog-M the video will be more over exposed and i need to set it 1/120s to get the same exposure (or use a ND64 filter to compensate for going to 1/60s). Just wondering if thats normal between the color profiles 🥸. Also more a heads up that switching between color profiles for the same shot (not sure for what reason 🙂) that you need to compensate for that.
Your WB is set to 6,500K. I have always had WB set to 5,600K for photos and videos. Can you explain why you have it set to 6,500K? Is it your preferred starting point when color grading? Or do you change it based on the time of day or weather condition? Thanks.
@@JakeSloan That makes lot of sense. WB setting does not matter of course when shooting DNG stills but for video it is always good to be close to the true WB when recording. Thank you for clarification. Great video BTW🙂
just some feedback, appreciate the video but really hard to watch if trying to absorb the info….less time with camera on you and more on controller screen would be beneficial when showing how to get at things imo also not sure how you added histogram monitor for exposure? ty!
sir not sure when I'm recording the video that time it was clear but after when I'm checking it is having lot of grain and noise I'm shooting on manual mode with low ISO still can you please suggest
that is HIGHLY dependent on location. I am not able to do that in all locations only some that are far from any sort of airports or controlled airspace
Alright thank you very much for your quick response! Stumbled across your content a couple days ago and really enjoy watching it. Great and helpful work!
because height from home point is based on barometer readings, while GPS coordinate heigh would require downloading detailed and very large file maps which dont exist for much of the planet
@@JakeSloan That doesn't add up to me, because right now I can download an app on my phone with no maps or anything that will show me all of my GPS information. Latitude longitude speed and altitude and I don't have to download maps of the entire world. All DJI would have to do is include GPS altitude as a reference for those who want to see it maybe. The GPS satellites themselves provide that information.

I want to buy one for offraoding competition still deciding between this and the mini 4 we take videos during the night too
the mini 4 is great but definitely cannot handle the same amount of wind the air 3 can for wild areas
