    Hi Pavel, great review, love how you put out all the information in depth and detail. One question about the Evolve ABEC F1 107 wheels. Did you use the Evolve pulleys for the wheels? Or is it possible to use/do the wheels fit to standard ABEC 11 clone pulleys. I have pulleys from Ownboard and would like to buy just the F1 wheels. Thank greetings from Slovenia ✌

      Hello!
      Very good question. Abec 107 and Foamies are two different types of wheels - one is a slick for smooth surfaces and another is mixed terrain use. Both wheels are nice but the 107 F1 fel much smoother.... i just wish they would not break up that easily ; (

    I got a set of the latest 107mm electric superfly wheels in green and they seem to have changed their manufacturing process for all their wheels of this size no matter if they make them for evolve or others.
    They fit the Evolve Carbon GT. The caveat to that is that if you are ordering online from a supplier that has some remaining old stock, you may wind up getting the old version.
    Be sure to ask.

      Hello Lina,
      Thank you so much for the question,
      SR wheels are SUPER for mixed terrain use. Roads in UK are really bad and the RS wheels are my choice for everyday ride. The new 120 mm foamies are even better : ) but do require a bit more power from the board or for the rider to be lighter ( not like me lol ). The newer 78 A RS are nicer than 85A though.
      Take a look at my " FURY " video i am using the RS wheels on my 7000watt DIY build and do rip them up on mixed terrain. Foamies review and road test is available on my channel as well.

      @@linaandersson5815, and Pavel -- Hi! Marcus here! I'm still riding my Rough Stuff wheels and loving it! I've recently changed the bearings from the ones that were in there to some higher ABEC-rated bearings I got at a skateboard shop. It's now a much faster ride! It was fast with the original bearings, but I 've never cleaned the original bearings. I am now using wider trucks too. Someone in my neighborhood was throwing their skateboard away and I simply took off the trucks and started using them because they are wider than the ones I had on. I couldn't tell you what kind they are, but, it's now a nicer ride. The wheels are wearing, but they still possess the trademark striations so when I am riding on a smooth surface there is that wonderful hum. When I get questions about the skateboard everyone wants to know if it's electric. because the only sound is that of the hum the wheels make on a smooth surface.
      Riding on the sidewalks of Brooklyn can be a wonderful meditative experience. It's a perfect opportunity to play a little game I like to call, 'Find the Perfect Path'. Essentially, try to find the path of less resistance as one skates. The objective isn't speed as much as it is an attempt to create more awareness as one skates. I feel much safer riding with my Rough Stuff wheels because their girth allows me a better riding experience -- on the sidewalk. I see folks riding conventional boards (and boosted boards too) on the street all the time, and I assume they are riding on the street because the paved road is smoother than the sidewalk -- but it's also much more dangerous. The Ruff Stuff wheels allow for a smoother ride on a not-so-smooth surface.

    Excellent video. I machined my Rough Stuff Wheels to fit my hub motors and worked out good compared to the original 90mm PU outer. I find the convex shape of the wheel allows a better transition going over kerbs, for example on a footpath onto the road and even going up some kerbs which have a slope on them. A square shape wheel does not transition as well for these sorts of maneuvers. I think even a 120mm wheel would be better to absorb big cracks on roads.

      how do you machine the wheels to fit onto hub motor ? very interested

    • @turbotrana
      @turbotrana 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On a lathe, you don't clamp it with the chuck teeth. Its a bit hard to explain but had 3 L legs bolted to the spindle clamping the outside face so that the tyre inside face is hard against the spindle. You have to manually centre the wheel. (does that make sense) Soft 85 duro PU is hard to machine, you need to profile the cutter in a particular way. We had to study up on it to get acceptable cutting. Plenty of videos on youtube about machining PU. We just profiled the inner part of the wheel to match the hub. I have found some more powerful hubs (about 100w more powerful than the current generic hubs on the market) and was thinking of getting some 110mm to 120mm Rough stuff type wheels professionally made for these new hubs.

    I thank you for a first class review, Pavel. I was more than a little disappointed in the performance of the Evolve wheels. As you pointed out, they are great wheels, but it certainly appears the RS wheels would be the way to go. Yet with all your real experience herein sighted, I will for now stick with the 175 mm pneumatic tires I have grown to love. • @mhakus
      @mhakus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pavel,
      First of all, I have a very basic board. It's a 'Real Custom' board, having two kick tails, the one in the front being slightly lower than the one in the back. I put the Rough-Stuff wheels on my board and went riding. It was great! However, I realized very quickly that because of the height of the wheels, I had to use quarter-inch riser pads to create space between the wheels and the board. And even with that if I made very sharp turns the wheels rubbed against the underside of the board and the board stops abruptly. I purchased two additional riser pads but my screws are not long enough to accommodate four riser pads. The solution I came up with is definitely unorthodox, but, it worked! I took a pair of my 6-year-old daughter's old flip-flops, the ones made of that dense polyurethane-like material, and I cut them to the size and shape of the riser pads. I drilled four holes in each then sandwiched them between the riser pads and the board. And with downward pressure, I screwed the trucks on. I also tightened my trucks a bit so that I cannot easily make sharp turns
      I love these wheels! I noticed right away that they are not as soft as the urethane wheels I had on the board, and I wondered if the grip of the wheels on the concrete and asphalt would be an issue, but the tire-like treads on the wheels are very reassuring. What's cool is the sound the wheels make on a hard surface! It sounds like a wheel going over a grating, a cool hum. I live in New York City, in Brooklyn. The sidewalks are unpredictable. They are cracked and often damaged. Riding with these wheels enables me to travel over the cracks and the ruts with more confidence. It's unlikely that a little pebble is going to send me flying.
      In Brooklyn, there is a park called Prospect Park. It has all of these weird bumpy paths that I can't wait to use the skateboard on. There is also a path for horse riding that's made of impacted gravel. I think that with these wheels I will be able to use the horse path. I have not tried it yet, but I will. I love speed like everyone else, but I am more interested in continuous momentum. I should have started by saying that I am not one of those guys who does tricks on the skateboard. I am satisfied with just being able to coast at a uniform pace. I generate momentum by 'tick-tacking' -- essentially lifting the front end of my board by applying pressure to the back end, and then using my hips to move the board to the left and to the right continuously. I can do this on level services as well as on an uphill. It's an incredible core exercise! I've always wanted to get wheels like these Rough-Stuff wheels because I wanted to ride my board on unconventional surfaces. I might invest in longer screws so that I can add the other pair of riser pads. I don't want to compromise my board's turning ability. My ability to tick tack effectively improves if I can create a torque-effect while the wheels are turning. My truck axkes are conventional and not broad. Maybe in time I'll get longer axles. Sorry for the long post here. In short, the wheels are great.

    • @PavelGarmas
      @PavelGarmas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Marcus!
      Thank you for the update. It is really nice to hear from you. You can get the screws and the nuts on e-bay really cheap. Get the 4 mm screws as long as you can and then cut them to suit. I would recommend to use the locking washers ( the washer that got the plastic ring inside). I wanted to mention - did leave in Brooklyn , New York myself from 2000 - 2006 and loved did there. You could cut the deck to free up the wheels the same way that I did on my 6 wheel tank :) Did you see the video? The DIY board came out really nicely and is a beast.
      I am glad that you are having a good time and using your creativity to customize the board. This is what it is all about - do it yourself!
      Stay in touch and ride safe mate!!!!

    • @mhakus
      @mhakus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Pavel! No, I did not see that video.I will look for it. I did get locking kind with the plastic ring inside. They make all the difference in the world! I am thinking of sanding down the sides of the deck to prevent wheel bite, but as it is now, with the risers and the foam from my daughter's flip-flops, it is quite high. I've used the skateboard quite a few times. I rode it on the sidewalk beside the Brooklyn Public Library and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. It slightly slopes down and the board accelerated very rapidly! I am wondering what would happen if I get wider trucks. Time will tell.

    F1s too bouncy? Idk what board that is, but it looks like it has zero flex. A board with flex, like a traditional longboard, would absorb that shock on rough surfaces, and the rider wouldn’t get tossed off the board. I’ve a electric board with a bamboo deck running 97s and it handles some pretty rough surfaces. Hope that helps some. Nice vid!

      Hello There and thank you for the question!
      What board / wheels do you have at the moment? If you have Abec 11 wheels on the board then you do not need anything to install the 110 mm ruff stuff wheels,
      There is a small difference between the performance of the board between 83mm wheels and 110mm .Smaller wheel - more torque ; bigger wheel - more speed,
      Hopefully this answers your question.
      PS! You will need to modify the belt covers unless you have a slick revolution board because the kit does come with a smaller covers to accommodate for the 110 mm wheels,

      I can help only to the extent of my knowledge. I do not own an Evolve board but looking at the images, looks like the evolve GT got the Abec 11 style wheel hubs that means that you can install the ruff stuff wheels on the board without a problem. I look at it this way - I got SR flex E -board and it comes with the Ruff Stuff wheels, I was able to install the Abec 11 107 without any issues just had to trim the belt covers. get the wheels and try....it is easy to cut back the belt covers. The wheels are not that expensive so if it does not work out - keep them for your next board or use for a DIy build.
      You will get a bit more top speed changing from 83 to 110 :)

    Hi Pavel another great review and both sets look fantastic. I think the rough stuff win for me as more versatile. Although I'm sure its nice to have both sets depending where your riding.
    The special pavement is called Tactile pavement and is for the partially sighted and the blind.
    Quick video here explaining all the differences and worth a quick watch.
    th-cam.com/video/cdPymLgfXSY/w-d-xo.html
    I'm liking the flex-Eboard as a potential second board although I am really hoping they upgrade the battery. I've just ordered an LG 6.4AH batter for my Verreal V1 so looking forward to giving it a test in the next 10 days or so.
    No PPE for the F1 test? Please keep that clever head of yours safe mate! BTW I had my first proper fall last night and it was going up a steep angled curb with the tactile paving on it. The board went flying forward from under my feet and slammed me down backwards. wrist/hand guards and elbow pads totally saved the day. It just knocked the wind out of me and lost a bit of pride but was straight back on the board. Pretty sure my elbow would have been a real mess as it made a very loud noise as the hard pad smashed into the road.

    People you do not want anything over a 78A durometer!!👍👍 unless you like a ruff ride and beat the shit out of your board or if your streets are super smooth!😁

    Anyone can buy the F1 wheels. I don’t know what he’s talking about, “Difficult to get because I don’t own an Evolve.” False.

    • @PavelGarmas
      @PavelGarmas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zac,
      Thank you for your comment. I am sorry that you think my statement is false....this is because you do not know me that well ; )
      I have an e-mail from Evolve UK stating that I can not buy any Evolve parts unless I am on the system or can prove that won one.I ended up buying them from Netherlands !
      I am more than happy to send you the copy if you want....just give me your e-mail address.
      And as always - enjoy riding and do it safely.

      Zac,
      I could not rest knowing that my viewers might think that I do provide with false information.....see below a section of e-mail that I was mentioning in my video :
      .....before I get this packaged up could you please let me know what board it is you have? And send me over a photo of it? The reason I ask is that there are items we sell which are for existing customers and from looking through our system this is the first order with us from you. I can’t find any older orders anywhere.
      Hope this isn’t too much trouble..
      Thanks.

      I wish you luck with finding your perfect board. One thing that you need to promise me - ware the safety gear! Helmet and gloves are a minimum....knee pads and the body armor would be ideal ; )

      @@PavelGarmas :) my absolute pleasure. When you do things right people wont be sure you've done anything at all, thats why is important to leave a good feedback when very helpful good deeds and infos are shared. Thanks mate, I do wear protective gear as I am a middle aged old school shredder myself growing up boarding in the 80s. BTW I did buy a SR urban kick today after watching your video, and will follow your advice in buying the ABEC 11s... Did not feel confident in buying an Evolve yet (as that was my first choice) after hearing of pairing problems with R2 and the board while the price did not seem good value for money. Keep riding bro
