    I've been using the 107mm for two years now and probably cover 50 miles per week and the performance are still as good as when I frist got them, incase anyone is wondering how they hold up over time, visually not so good but that doesn't worry me

    Your reviews are some of the best out there! Excellenty presented and very detailed! Great job!
    However I'll have to disagree with you on the wheels :)
    At first the 107 really feel amazing, so smooth and feel as if they can absorb anything on it's path. However they have a few issues.
    1) you cannot slide with them.
    2) Due to its softness and bouncing they have a tenancy to throw you off when carving too hard or hitting a crack in the road at high speeds. (So many have reported this and I could feel why after some time riding them)
    Wheel preference is a very personal thing though and it depend on your riding style and terrain.
    For me the GTR 97's are a clear winner for to its versatility and feel, but both are fantastic wheels for what they offer though no doubt.

    thanks for the great review. one critique-when using the brakes you are braking, not breaking which would imply something was going to break. I don't like anything to break especially when bombing along the road.

    6:00 Acceleration is restored if you change to a 38T sprocket. The standard 97mm wheels with GT mode is shockingly fast, so I actually prefer the 32T set up & 107mm wheels.

  • @jamiemuir1557
    @jamiemuir1557 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I bought these and found they lead you into a false sense of security grip wise . If you are into heavy carving they will grip to a point but then suddenly give but not in a controlled way like my regular downhill board of other sk8’s . They are also heavy if that bothers you which it did me .Makes a already heavy board even heavier . The trouble is the sheer amount of pu around the centre core of the hub is always going to cause twisting and movement under load . In my opinion i think they are not worth the trade up . 97’s seem to be the best option but that’s based on my ride style (aggressive ) where as they might suit riders who like long distance commutes .

    Hi Chris Great review on the 6" V 7" AT Wheels as well as the 97mm V 107mm. I current have a GT Carbon 2in1 that I have had since 2015, just replaced the battery, however couldn't get the proper battery from evolve, so they have sent a 7AH battery that still works although does not last as long as the original battery did. I am purchasing a new GTR Carbon and trying to order it with 6" wheels and 47 tooth drive as well as the 107mm wheels. Just to let you know that your advertised discount code does not work and is NOT recognised by Evolve Australia ??

    97mm GTR wheels are the best street wheel on the market right now IMO. The compound grips really well without feeling too floaty, they are a lot lighter than the 107mm, and of course, they have better torque, acceleration, and range. To me the 107mm don't really feel like longboard wheels anymore, they don't have the same feel.

    Foamies vs 107. There is something you could chceck out Chris. I ride the AT's and thr 107 abecs. Love both of em! I still have an issue with the 107's though. I could compare them to a ride with a porsche. They have perfect grip! Unless them kill you. It happend to me several times when i was feeling confi, that i run over a small peice of stone on the street and it was just like someone would pull the carpet. The thing is, the 107 are flat, where the foamies are a bit curved and i persume that could mild that effect where its super grip or u end up down on the street. Im asking you because i see that you are pushing it with the carving also to the limit and would like to hear your opinion. Thanks a milion and greetings from swiss.

    Nice review. Interesting you mention the larger wheels are slower to accelerate. I’m not sure how evolve calculates speed but it’s very likely the larger wheels offset the speedo given the increased wheel diameter. Did it feel slower? On the same end, the top speed might actually be faster than the 28/29 you saw as well.

  • @RUS38
    @RUS38 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Acceleration doesn’t bother me at all. Honestly in 5 years of riding only a few times I switched to GT mode on my carbon. Fast mode on ABEC 11 is quick enough for me. Great review!

    Great review! I have the same exact setup as you. 100% agree that the 107's is the perfect match for the Evolve GTR. I got the red 107's from Metroboards website. They look SICK!!! So now, if you could get your hands on some 120mm foamies, that should be an interesting review. I have those as well. I can say that they are even softer and roll over just about anything without having to use pneumatics. The problem with them is the range. It suffers. I did hit 27mph with them though which is nice. I switched to the 38T gear to get me better range and that worked; however, my top speed dropped a lot. Was only able to achieve a 22mph top speed which sucks. I wish there was a happy medium with the 120 foamies as the feel even better than the 107's.

      What would be the difference if you did change to a 38T? Better acceleration?
      I’m thinking of buying them but not sure if I want the gearing also..

    Dude you MUST try AT wheels on streets and tar. It's amazing. Eats the road. Great ride so good. Has to be tried

    Was watching your timed acceleration portion and noticed you hit 20mph in 5 seconds.
    My meepo v3 hits 19mph in 4 seconds!! I guess these meepos are some fast hub motor boards then?
    Obviously the gtr has many other pros to its design just pointing that out..

      Because he didn't putthe max settings on the app, you can make it faster off the line

      Correct

      I could increase the acceleration speed with upgrading the teeth or using the app but prefer not to.

    riding on rough roards would dictate to switch to 80 wheels for better experience? can someone give me a lil of explanation about it? the GTR is my first board sooo.....

      AT wheels* (All-Terrain) :)

  • @maryetdave

    This board is so expensive, with the AT wheels it would be the perfect e-skateboard to bring on my sailboat and commute on island with it.

    Wow I lost a lot of range switching to 107m :( I am on GTX. Evolve support also said I would loose 5 miles....

    • @Omnitrio1
      @Omnitrio1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I am.on gtr and lost alot of range. It's a bigger heavier wheel of course you will lose range compared to 97s he was not accurate with information there.

    do you know if i can use these wheels in a slick revolution board?

  • @warlockboyburns
    @warlockboyburns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think anything above 97mm feels boring unless you're going too fast to be able to jump off the board and land on your feet. I got some 120mm cloudwheels and I had to go 24mph to get any entertainment.

    97mm 32T I've never gotten over 22mph on flat rode. No clue how you are getting these speeds.

      Even in his video when he says 26 with 97s his remote shows 107mm 32T at 5:08. So I'm always trying to figure out what's going on with your boards.
