I have a white excursion. I love that truck. If I can finally start making money again I want to totally restore it and turn it into an emergency shelter apocalypse mad max rig. With the way things are going economically, I may have to.
YOU SHOULD SEE MINE...IT HAS A 2015 FRONTEND & DASHBOARD OFF OF A 2012. 37INCH TIRES WITH A 6 INCH LIFT MAYBE 7 1/2 IN THE FRONT RELACED FRONT SEATS WITH NEWER ONES WITH NEW FRONT DOOR PANELS . ITS A BEAUTIFUL BEAST...LOL
That is so awesome. I have a 2008 Chev Suburban that was previously used to haul a 30 ft toy hauler. It was grossly underpowered so I added a Magnuson supercharger. After seeing your rig at Overland Flagstaff, I bored out my engine, added headers, cam, and high stall torque converter. Also installed 411 gears, BDS 6” lift and skid plates, and roll on 20” XD wheels and 34” tires. Since I couldn’t afford Goose Gear, I made a platform in the rear with two drawers. I can sleep on top, or load up full of gear and sleep in my ruggedized Tepui Kukenam on the roof. People certainly take a second look at such a large platform set up in such a fashion, but I love my truck.
Chris has done a fantastic job on a build the fits his needs & requirements. I totally enjoy and I'm inspired by the awesome photography he produces capering his adventures. Absolutely a great platform for Overland adventure travel and it encouraging see the diversity in the various builds we are seeing on the platform. Same reason I chose the Excursion for our vehicle. One feature Chris didn't mention was the power plant we both share in our vehicles., 7.3lL Powerstroke Diesel. Incredibly reliable, longevity and more than enough power for builds like ours. Properly geared and a mild tune, I can get 600+ mile range. We will be producing a bunch of adventure travel videos, install & tech videos ourselves and would love to have other Overland enthusiasts follow along and join the conversation.
OMG I LOVE THIS! I have an Excursion and I am looking to do some of this stuff. Thank you for this. I’m also a photographer we chatted on IG a while back before I got my vehicle. So glad I decided on the Excursion.
Absolutely beautiful rig. I've wanted a diesel Excursion for quite a while, but we do a lot of trails that aren't big rig friendly. Would be awesome for pulling my Jeeps to the trail heads though!!!!
Awesome setup! I'm currently finishing up my overland build on a Ford Expedition with the exact paint colors! If we ever cross paths, we'll have to park them side-by-side for a photo. LOL
Damn, that thing is awesome. Excursion was a great choice. Overland, why not do it big? Big and rugged, It is well suited for just about anything you can think of. probably the only drawback would be its size on smaller trails. I accidentally stumbled onto your channel and I'm glad I did. I'm definitely going to follow along from this point on.
I’ve got to get me an Excursion 7,3. Nice setup. You should look into a coil spring front suspension conversion and Dana s110 rear axle. Then it would be the most ultimate overlander.
Good times offroad. My wife and I drove to Southern California, in my 2012 SVT, FORD Raptor, the factory seats are so comfortable. No complaints at all
I have been considering the full sized SUV segment for an overlander, but not sure what I want. I enjoy videos like this to gain perspective! *sighs* Decisions decisions lol I currently use my beloved 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road, for my off road adventures! I have a 2021 Range Rover as a daily and wouldn't recommend Land Rover as an overlander, unless you are just into weekend adventures closer to home. Range Rovers are my favorite road SUVs, but unfortunately I wouldn't trust it for remote touring lol.
Absolutely beautiful my friend I would love one fantastic , thought out perfectly fantastic even for a daily driver for work and then weekend get away.
i'm jealous tho this guy, as look his instegram some nice pictures, but it doesn't look that art fantastic pricy. I wish to born rich well any way nice truck for sure and really good set up. you got to make lots pictures to afford this mods
Nice rig! I have a lifted Flex Fuel Suburban sitting on 35s. I try to keep it as light as possible so I don’t get stuck in the mud or sand, how does yours handle it?
Im about to buy an 00 excursion 7.3 and absolutely love the idea to overland and camp in one. What brand and model diesel air heater did you get? I wanna get same setup so i can ditch 3rd row and camp in the back hahaha
Hey Chris, great looking rig. Do you do your own wrenching? Are these easy to work on yourself? Thinking of looking at a 2003 V10 with 230K miles, any tips for what to look for that can be a red flag? Thanks in advance for your input.
Looking for a similar rear bumper arrangement for my 1995 4WD Suburban (why the hell did GM mount the spare inside the vehicle?). Went to the buckstop website but saw no mention of rear bumpers.
You say good gas mileage? I have one with the V10 and the 3-inch lift and only 32 in tires and I averaged between 9 and 10 miles per gallon oh, I'm curious what you get.
He mentioned the diesel heater pulls fuel from his main tank, so I imagine it's a diesel. If he's smart he got the 7.3. I've been reading up on these, the impression I get is that you want to run, not walk, away from the 6.0 diesel.
It looks like a 2000-2001 7.3 I get 16 - 22 mpg on my 2002 7.3 6.0 diesels have bad head bolt set ups. They can be corrected by what's called Bullet Proofing them. Look up Powerstrokehelp.com

That's one of the nicest, most practical, overland vehicles I've seen to date. Nice setup.
I didn't realize my excursion had all this potential. Thanks 👍
As long as you have $50k for the upgrades.
@@kjmdrumz3 Lol right?🤣
It’s called the KING OF SUV’s for a reason! 😎👍
Go anywhere!
What kind of rear bumper is that
Land cruiser 🤭
king of the road side service lane
@@LifeofJoban the land cruiser is nowhere near as great as the excursion

i have an 03 Excursion and we started building it for overlanding. I love the video. It has been such an inspiration to me. Love the rig.

great setup. the "mood lights"in the back are a nice touch.
The rig is phenomenal! Excursions are definitely the way to go.
Please post links to all the gear in that thing! Especially the deck storage unit. Great job! Thanks!

Great build and very well thought out. The definition of "dialed".
Can't beat the 7.3 SUV body/engine combo.
I LOVE THIS RIG! What a great setup! You did a great job putting it all together!
Made it halfway through the video before looking up Excursions on Marketplace, haha. This thing makes my 4Runner look like a toy.
Wow ! Great rig!

It’s got to be north of $150k, that’s such an amazing rig!
Any guesses on how much that would cost to outfit your excursion? Nice rig!
You'll have to check with Chris on the details. He's active on IG.
Would love to do this to my 2003.
Torn between the diesel n the gas engine is definitely lean towards the most reliable
Great video! You said changing the gears allowed you to get good fuel economy. How many mpg do you get and what do you contribute most of that to?
Absolutely beautiful my friend I would love one fantastic , thought out perfectly fantastic even for a daily driver for work and then weekend get away.
You still like the OME stuff? Looking to pull the trigger on that kit if it suits well
You'll have to check with Chris. We just filmed the walkaround. If memory serves he's moved onto a new rig.
Very nice, wonder how many miles per gallon this rig gets with all of the added gear? I'm guessing around 10.

4wheelparts.com has them for around $400.00
Just wondering whats the make and model of the Hitch Extension.

What’s the little black antenna-looking thing on the storage box in the rear?
Probably radio or cell booster.
where did you get the heater for the interior? i need that for my truck..

It's made by Buckstop truckware.
I wish I could’ve heard more about the engine set up... diesel??? What size? Power? Torque?? Type of diesel?
All I know is it's the 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel. Not sure on HP/TQ numbers.
250 hp stock ~450tq, fuel injectors and chip get you to about 380hp and 650 tq ish
Where did you buy the seats??
What ram air intake did you find for the 7.3??
