    How cool is it that Chris Sale is back!?!?!? Went out for another inning at 99 pitches and got a 123 inning. So fun to watch!

    A term used on this channel that I hadn't heard before: sword. Judging by the context clues, sword means a batter striking out on a checked swing, right?

  • @Johnny2tc
    @Johnny2tc ปีที่แล้ว

    You should look at Casey Jansen when he was the jays closer. Had a cutter that wasn’t too fast but got many ks from. Always wondered why it worked so well

    Hi Pitching Ninja - can I make a request? I'd like to see a segment or video on how pitchers/catchers choose what pitch to throw. Perhaps a bit on pitching psychology. Maybe some examples of pitchers setting up batters. Kinda wanted to know if there is a method to the madness. I know some things like 0-2, make em chase something out of the zone for example, but a lot of the time the pitch choices seem random. Is it based off a scouting report whether or not to start a batter off with a fastball or a breaking ball? Thanks.

    • @1ronman1
      @1ronman1 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of it has to be random, otherwise hitters will sit on the predictable pitches.
      Course then pitchers will do a I know you know I know I’ll throw this so I’ll throw that mind game

    If Manoah had been able to keep himself under control, they never would've needed the second visit. I trust a guy like Garrett or Lynn when they're talking about going back and fore with a batter. Manoah just looks like a 12 year old that wants to be tough, like his big brother.

  • @frederickbradley8255

    90% of these the way they swing they had no chance. You gotta keep your head on the ball. They were all pulling away from the pitch. Go into the pitch with your head on it or your done. That's why Nolan Arrendo had such a horrid start. Now his head is on the ball and he's raking.

    • @BeefPapa

      Head on the ball. So simple! You should let these clueless hitters know!

    • @frankguy6843
      @frankguy6843 ปีที่แล้ว

      lmao that only works if you can tell which pitch is coming, all the overlay breakdowns on this channel and you still don't get why the best hitters in the world look like fools. It's not bad hitting, it's good pitching.

    • @frederickbradley8255
      @frederickbradley8255 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frankguy6843 i don't think you understand what I'm saying. Watch there heads they are either looking at the pitcher or in the stands. No matter what was thrown unless they got lucky they weren't touching the ball. They are not tracking the ball at all.
