I agree but also this is way easier said then done. If you ask any baseball player how they recognize pitches they have pretty much no idea. Its all extremely subtle details like the spin and color and angle of the wrist that is really cool to watch in a video but you will only get better by getting reps
@@cubsfanman-nx6pg I'm talking from the fan's perspective, not a player's perspective. The game gets way more interesting and entertaining the more you understand it.
Great video, I have been really struggling swinging and missing at sliders that end up low and away lately. My team mates suggestion was to just hit the fastball early in the count LOL
This is actually good advice. If you aren’t able to recognize pitches and adjust accordingly, you’ll have to be a guess hitter. And you’re more likely to get fastballs early in the AB. Jump on that “get ahead fastball” first pitch.
What a great video! I am 56 years old and i still enjoy hitting. I go to the batting cages every chance I get. Years ago my batting cage that i went to had a curve ball machine , i can make contact in the fast ball cage but i looked foolish in the curve ball cage. It was 12 to 6 just like you described. I had to force myself to swing lower than what my mind was telling me too just to make contact. Pitch identification is truly the key. Get ready to hit the fastball then make adjustments from there.
Thanks bro. I wish I had youtube when I was a child. Great athlete and baseball player but no dad or father to help me figure this stuff out. But I'm on it with my son
This is a great video!! Thanks. I'd love to see a video where a hit of each pitch is likely to land if hit. Like if a slider results more in a pop fly or if a two seam is likely to result in a homerun. I know there are a lot of variables though. Great video
Im new to the sport and i would like to learn more about the nuances and small details of the sport. Any advice on where i should start ? (My wifes family is huge with baseball and i dont wanna sound like a casual with them)
Using a round bat to try to hit a round ball coming at you at 90mph with english on it is still the hardest thing in sports. In baseball, you are considered an all time great if you fail 7 times out of 10.
I just can't tell a slider from a curve. I see a lot of pitches that look like they have mostly downward movement that will be said to be sliders by Statcast. It's confusing.
my friend the backroung music is kinda loud and confused.. it mixes with your voice and the sensation is not good. hope you change it, i love ur content
Study the pitcher Decide which pitch you want Prepare to swing at every pitch Understand count probability Hit the breaks once unwanted pitch is identified No breaks if unwanted pitch is not identified Always expect to swing!
I hope there aren't a lot of people out there who think hitting is easy. Heck, I think hitting is hard in wiffle ball. Lol. I truly do. I can't imagine when it's a solid ball, half the size of a wiffle ball (maybe more than half) traveling at nearly 100 mph. Wow. I can't believe anyone can hit those balls. Kudos to all the minor and pro guys who CAN.
The video is good don’t take me wrong , but is just like having the diagram or isometric print for a piping system , you don’t have time to be watching those colors differences , I am I agree with minute 1:28 and minute 2:12 , what really help you is to start earlier as is the ball is been pitched at you already knowing that the ball has not been even released from pitcher hand , but once he move toward you he intention will be the strike zone , so (why) wait till the ball is close to way to begin thinking something that you knew with anticipation ? I believe you can recognize what will be on the zone and what will not be on the zone , knowing your pitcher arsenal will help you to compete against him , think of a ( war) if your enemy know your location and what weapons you have they can ambush you at any time , if they don’t then you are even , if you’re enemy has ak47 you don’t try to fight him with a rock , hope my comment can be understand , it is made with the best intention for any player at any level , peace
looking the other way on the slider is non-negotiable. except you literally showed someone taking a low outside slider and hitting it over the SS head.... i agree with you, but why show a guy getting out in front and pulling a ball off the end of his bat for a hit lol
Because if you’re approach is right, then you can still make hard contact when you leave your posture. My guess is that if he hadn’t been looking middle away, he would have been too out front.
That's exactly what a good cutter does. It looks exactly like a 4 seam but the spin is just about 1 degree off which is why an elite cutter is so hard to hit because it looks so similar and barely even breaks
@antonio_serdar then its not a cutter its just a really bad slider. A cutter will look like a fastball the whole way and then cut about 3-4 inches at the very end
@antonio_serdar I'd like to know what pitcher you're referring to. Maybe they're just classifying it as a cutter when its really not or who knows. But I'd love to see exactly what you're talking about
I've watched hundreds of videos like this. All claim to show what it's like to "face the pitches". NONE do! You have to to go up there and stand at the plate or you will never know!

Why on earth did you deliberately visually distort a video about identifying what very fast pitches look like? This has every element needed to make it great, yet you managed to make it terrible. SMH
This is great information and very practical! I will now finally be able to effectively crush my 9 year old’s pitches without mercy.
lol
How does this not have millions of views??? This is literally baseball essentials with top notch editing and commentary. Keep it up man!
thx buddy.

One of the best identification on pitching vids I have ever seen. Well done.
Oh man. Thanks for that DJ. Appreciate you bud.

Thanks showing the spin from the hitter’s POV really helped me visualize.
Glad it helped!

Such a high quality video, so much style
Wow thanks Edward!
Awesome video again. Really does help on seeing pitches you would want to take, and pitches you want to attack.
Right on buddy. Thanks.
Great video, finally I can understand more about how those pitches works and use this for training (I'm training as a pitcher)
Keep up the good work!
Glad it was helpful!

Great video, love this channel!
Investing into the app is one of the smartest decisions I’ve made this year.
Oh man thank you so much for the kind words. These always make my day. Stay after it buddy.
Great job! Thanks ! Hello from Paris France.
Very satisfied video 😊
Anyone who says baseball is easy never actually played baseball. Hitting a baseball IS the single hardest thing to do in sports!
No dodubt about it.
I usually hate the background music for TH-cam videos but this fit really well, great video man
Thanks, Please show us how they hold it and goals of the pitch at start, release and finish motion.
I'll put that on the list of videos to make soon. Thanks Mark.
Awesome video!
it's been forever since I've played, and honestly never would have considered the spin type affecting how the ball's color looks

Very well done vidéo. Thanks.
A very good video about pitching techniques
Thanks Victor.
Very cool editing. Was it done in Adobe Premiere?
One question I have is, is the ball moving shown in the perspective of the batter or the pitcher?
now that is one effective video. love it 👍
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
My favorite pitchers were knuckleball pitchers. I wish we saw it more often. I just love watching a knuckleball.
Great stuff
thanks bud!

I love it MORE!!!!
The gold medal slider for me is between David cone and randy Johnson.
Fast information gush - I think I'm past my prime
This is insane

Slider looks like a FB out of the hand. CB pops out of the hand at release point.

Why is the catcher checking on the batter at 4:30?
He's tagging him out. The ball hit the ground before it was caught on strike three.

I mean if you're able to check the color of the ball at that speed, hats off.
Not "check". React and anticipate. High-level, visual pattern recognition = elite-level pitch recognition skills.
3:58 TWOSEAM FOLHA SECA!!
Is this for mlb the show 23 or real life?
Real life bro. Always.
Good info. Horribly distracting background music.
Nah fr bells and jingling
I’m just here because an anime got me into baseball 😂
lol
Basically incredible vision and almost twitch level movement. Everything I don’t have.
I have the need. The need for speed.

💯👍
I'd never heard of or necessarily seen a two seam pitch. That was so dirty.
Pedro Martinez.
Why are all the diagrams left-handed?
Seeing these pitches from the batters box would of been better
You will be call crash Davis now, lol. Of course, if you don't want to.
😂 I’ll take it. Crash is the man.

You're not wrong.
Less then 50% of the time to hit to hit the pitch.
