    No need to throw away your air mattress when you've a hole. Follow these simple steps to quickly identify the leak and repair the hole:
    1. Locate the breach by spraying the air mattress with soapy water. BugWhere it bubbles, there's the hole.
    2. Melt the tip of a stick of hot glue gun glue over the hole and let dry. Be careful not to burn your fingers, and allow the glue to cool fully before touching it.
    3. Wipe the air mattress down and you're ready to go!
    A high quality air mattress should last you for years with minimal damage. They are great to keep around the house for unexpected guests, or for added comfort camping.

    There are way too many videos out there with far too cumbersome of processes. This hot glue one works. And there isn't a four-minute lead-up to it. A :40 video that gets it done without rambling. Whoever made this video is the hero we all need. Thank you.

      My son peed on my new Andy matterres n he is 3 y/o, while i was drying it out he wanted to have it n faced the dryer down on mattress n burned it in to holes at e places. Can you suggest anything to fix it too? What type of glue is it? These holes may hurt my bedsheets n it may ripped off from there

      This won't work on a air mattress that has a small rip in it. This video only shows a hole the size of a pin. Air mattresses get slice rips on them not small little holes.

      I think the glue stick is part of the process. Pushing the stick on the leak spot might cause sone of the glue to go INSIDE the mattress and form a lock of a dirt to keep the hot glue patch in place. I wouldn’t just drop the glue from a glue gun on the leak. It might need the pressure of the stick to push s tiny bit of glue inside the hole which dries and keeps the patch in its place. I’m guessing but it feels right to me.

    My advice after trying this:
    1. He's using a glue gun stick, not a candle. Candle wax will not be strong enough
    2. Do not try this while the mattress is fully inflated unless you want liquid hot glue flying back into your face 😅
    3. If the hole is large enough, melt the glue stick (or multiple sticks) and plug the hole with them. Then melt additional glue around it.

    WHAT WORKED FOR ME.
    On a deflated mattress I found the hole and I took piece of plastic bag and pushed it in the hole to be the backing of the hole.
    I had regular nail glue and I squeezed it in the hole to fuse the plastic bag to the back of the hole.
    That fusing allowed the slit( shape of the hole) to stick together as well.
    I had flex seal clear in my cupboard and I sprayed it once every couple of hours for about 3x, giving it time to sorta dry in between the sprays.
    The next day I blew up the bed and gave it an extra spray for good measure.
    It's holding up fine. I applied pressure when I sprayed the last spray to see if any bubbles was escaping.
    This process makes sense to me because it's not just one side that is sealed but both sides.
    I did not scrape the velvet off the bed

    • @bobtan7187
      @bobtan7187 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This sounds like a great idea, because air pushes out and the plastic bag inside mattress will automatically seal the hole even tighter if air tries to come out. But how do you push the plastic bag there? It's not easy I guess.

    I'm seeing a lot of people who have tried gum in the comments and a few for those who it hasn't worked or only worked for a few days and I think I know why. First off you have to use chewing gum (though any gum should work as long as it's chewed first without a lot of moisture in the gum). Secondly you HAVE to clean the spot first where you are going to be applying the tape or it won't work no matter what repair you are going to try. Also if you have one of those mattresses with the felt like tops you have to remove that material or the tape won't get a strong enough bond to the area.

    • @neonliights
      @neonliights 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you remove the felt top material?

    • @Jaqen-HGhar
      @Jaqen-HGhar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@neonliights anything sufficiently rough should do it. I think I used the other end of the pushpin I was using (you know the ones with the clear ends that you using to hang things). Just something that won't accidentally put another hole in the mattress. You could even use something like a plastic knife or a nail file.

      Would the gum thing work on a waterbed??

    • @Jaqen-HGhar
      @Jaqen-HGhar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lesliecreech1993 that's a tough one, it might but I don't think it would hold as long as I think water would put more pressure on the seal than air does. Plus water would keep the gum moist. I actually switched from gum to taking the sticky part of the duct tape and scraping a bunch of that and creating a ball about the size of what I would've used with the gum. I then put that in the hole and then took a fresh piece of tape to seal over that and that seal lasted for months until I got a new bed. I would imagine that would be a better solution for a water bed than gum.

    I think using the glue stick without the glue gun is part of the process. Pushing the stick on the leak spot might cause some of the glue to go INSIDE the mattress and form a lock of a sort to keep the hot glue patch in place. I wouldn’t just drop the glue from a glue gun on the leak. It might need the pressure of the stick to push a tiny bit of glue inside the hole which dries and keeps the patch in its place. I’m guessing, but it feels right to me.

    Hi don’t know if anyone else tried this if the hole is so small you can’t hardly see it I find a blob of superglue Is awesome you quickly wipe any excess glue with a towel as soon as you put the glue on you only want it to soak in that tiny area mines been fixed for five years like that and still totally air tight hope this helps also easy to do when out camping etc takes seconds

      Massive crazy glue WITH duct tape over it, still hasn’t saved mine, and I tried that multiple times on multiple mattresses. I hope it works this time.

    • @Steveorino123
      @Steveorino123 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s glass cleaner. Not important. Any all purpose type cleaver to get any dirt off is all that’s needed. I’d wipe it off with plain water in a rag afterwards to be sure any soap residue doesn’t interfere with the glue adhesion. And then I’d wipe the water off with a clean rag to dry it. That’s just me. You asked. 😅. Or use rubbing alcohol on a clean rag or paper towel to clean the area of the leak. ‘Clean’ is all that’s happening with the spray bottle in the pic. He’s not trying to find the leak, he just made the hole. Look at this one:
