    I ordered something from Amazon that was specifically for air mattress tear repair. I can't remember the name but all you have to do is look up air mattress patch kit. The only bad thing is you needed to leave it for 48 hours for it to set. I just put a bunch of books on top of it. But it worked beautifully. I use that bed for another 6 months, I was living someplace where I knew I wouldn't be there long and I didn't want to go to the expense and trouble of buying a bed. So I slept on that air mattress for 9 months and that one patch really worked. But the biggest deal was you have to let it set for 48 hrs or it won't take.

    Another good idea is to trim/round off the four sharper corner edges of the new patch. If not, these are the points where a patch will usually come apart or peel off.

I felt so deflated I dried it off and went to run some errands. When I got home I thought well, might as well try the other side since I've come this far but I needed to top up the air. Switched it on til full, went to shut it off and VOILA!! Little BUBBLES at the switch from this mornings water! THANK YOU THANK YOU! I never expected the leak would be there.

    Use goop sealant, cut a piece of vinyl fabric as the patch. Goop is flexible and strong and the vinyl fabric (pleather) patch will reinforce it. Tire patch rubber cement is not compatible with the vinyl these mattresses are made of.

    The adhesive your using is meant for vulcanizing rubber. The air mattress is made of PVC. You need to use a PVC sealant. That's likely why the first patch failed and I wouldn't expect the second one to last long term.

      @JonnyDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Tear a small piece off light the plastic 🔥 blow it out and quickly place it on the hole for atleast 10 seconds with pressure and repeat if necessary. My bed is no longer sinking in. So Jonny DIY the hole in my air mattress is on the top where it has a type of felt like material. I used Duct tape first but the tape didn't stick to the felt. And again the hole is on the top of the mattress. Any suggestions...

      You can do the same fix as I did here, but be sure to scrape and sand off all the old glue around the hole. And since on the felt you use a lil bit more of the patch glue. Can get a bicycle patch kit at any Walmart, sporting store or bike shop 👍

    I did the soapy method and used a self-adherent adhesive bandage wrap with super glue worked so far even for a 5mm tear with the mattress inflated of course you cut a piece that you need to cover hole or tear and put super glue on the section air is coming out then the bandage press down it drys up and bam we are ready to use by the way I used $1 super glue work great.

      I've always had luck with either listening for it, feeling for the air (sounds funny, but if you put your lips near leak you'll feel it), or the soapy water spray bottle. It's also possible its leaking from the pump mechanism. I've never taken one apart to see if possible to fix that though.

    Hi Jonny, It's me again. Just a thought, when I've repaired my Airbed's I've used Gorilla Epoxy Resin and I've used it three times all were successful. I don't use any patches, just put it straight on. Never fails. I also keep the bed at 90% blown up so the glue isn't stretched so much when hard. As you will know it's part resin and part hardener, mix it together and it bonds like magic. It's even made in America.
    Also I was wondering re finding the impossible leak: Is there a chance you might check out the pump and whether that could be a source of leakage ? Thanks for your help, Paul
