      Monthly income after tax sounds straight BS. $11K after tax comes out to 135K per year. There's no way she pays only $10K of income tax per year especially living in NY . The federal income tax rate in her bracket is around 30% and on top of that there's a 9% state income tax. This makes absolutely no sense.

      I am in USA and do think that $100k is pretty crazy! I believe that the average total borrowed is $37k in the US.
      Public universities are about $15k per year I think.

      The wedding industry jacks up the prices of things, especially in big cities like New York. While I can see a good chunk of the 25k going towards the venue & food/alcohol, it probably also factors in her dress, decor, honeymoon, etc. That being said, for only 25 people it IS a lot of money.

    Why is she saving so much when she has $100k in student loans? If she puts $5k a month more for the loans, she'd be finished, give or take, in about 2 years (allotting for added interest); that would still leave $634 per month for savings, which would be $15,216 in 2 years (certainly not as much as she'd have if she continued the $5k per month, but perfectly respectable and much more than most would have in savings).

      Terrell L. Moody It’s not really going to make much of a difference. She’s saving more now than maybe big payments instead of saving. Maybe she has plans with her savings to do something else. I like the idea that she has all that money in the bank just in case. She can even retire early too. With student loans the interest isn’t moving anywhere or is very little to none depending on the type.

      @@ANonyMouse627 Student loans not exempt. You can deduct 2.5k in student loan interest but that's it. The 401k is probably where the savings is coming in with her high savings rate. 401k is pre-tax so it is a deduction.

      Read “The Millionaire Next Door.” Teachers tend to retire with far more assets than people with higher incomes because they know how to be responsible with their money. This woman is reasonably sensible with her money, but we don’t know how she would bounce back if her career hits a slump.

      fifi femi because she said she is spending 20,000 for a small group of people . When you look up destination wedding depending where you going the packages are fairly cheaper than 25,000 and your guest are responsible for their expensive which saves you money

    Its good that she’s putting half of her monthly income into a saving but what she should really be doing in putting a lot of more towards her student debt. She makes a lot but also has a lot of debt which will accumulate a lot of interest. Going into a marriage with a lot of student debt like that is not the best.

Wow, yes she doesn’t have that much is savings compared to her income but she is young so I’m guessing she new to the job, and of course she is clearly putting money away. I know people who spend more then her and make less then half. So she is doing great!!! I don’t know who you are faceless girl but your responsible and reasonable in my eyes. Keep it up

      The average house hold has $8,200 in credit card debt. If you pay the minimum only every month it will take over 34 years to pay off. That is assuming you do not add any more to your amount owed. You have to attack debt to make it go away.

    29 and still 100k in student debt? She needs to pay way more than 1300 a month. At that rate it will take over six years to pay off not counting the interest. If she is 29 and still has 100K in debt she is paying the bare minimum, probably two times the interest.
