  • This video is to help you diagnose loud rumbling / vibrating noise coming from engine area on an 8th Generation 1.8L Honda Civic (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011). The noise / vibration can be heart / felt inside the cabin and is more prevalent on the passenger's side. Here are the #ᴬᴰlinks to tools, parts and accessories you may need to perform this repair:
    1) amzn.to/3gDNMs8 (Honda Genuine 50820-SNA-P01 Engine Side Mounting Rubber Assembly)
    2) amzn.to/2G9rsdu (ENA Front Right Engine Motor Mount Compatible with 2006-2011 Honda Civic DX LX EL 1.8L L4 A4530)

    Sometimes roughness can be felt in the steering wheel. A rattle in the dash and engine area may also be heard. Sometimes the noise can be worst when the vehicle is in reverse than it is in neutral. Sometimes it feels like if the engine along with the whole front frame shakes up and down. When driving the rumbling and the noise felt as if you're in a plane during take off. The noise can also be felt or heard during idling especially after a cold start.
    If this is the case then most likely culprit is engine mount has collapsed. Apparently according to Honda Forum on the internet, this is quite common for 8th Gen Honda Civic (06-11), DX, LX or EX doesn't matter, some have failed at under 50,000 miles and many people are wondering how come it is not on a recall list. Our car is a 2010 Honda Civix LX and the mileage is about 150,000 miles.
    Obviously loud engine noise, rumbling, rattling etc. can be attributed to many other mechanical issues or problems such as leaking exhaust pipe, muffler, gaskets, bad spark plugs, MAP sensor and so on, but most of these issues would generate an engine code.
    So if you are experiencing loud or rumbling engine noise as described above, you should open the hood and check the right or passenger side engine mount so see if it had collapsed (the metal bracket is touching the mount). Check the video out for description.
    Once you have identified the problem, you can go ahead and order the part. We suggest for this particular issue, you should order Genuine Honda Part 50820-SNA-P01 Engine Side Mounting Rubber Assembly. OEM part is very expensive though, around $215 from our local dealers. Online dealers are a little cheaper. There are many cheap aftermarket parts for around $30+ such as MotorKing available either on eBay, Amazon.com or from local autopart stores such as O'Reilly, Advance Autoparts and Autozone, however reviews indicated either the part doesn't fit right and require modifications such as drilling hole or it doesn't last that long because the hydraulic failed.
    Once you have ordered the parts, we suggest you come back to EyeOnAiman's channel and check our DIY automotive repair video on how to remove, replace and install the right side Engine Mount. Alternatively you can bring the car to the mechanic and they'll replace it for you for around $150 - $200 labor not including the part.
    Here's that video if you are interested in finding out how to replace this part yourself: • How To Replace Right S...

    I was 12 years old when my dad began teaching me about cars. Yes he was ASE certified and barely knew english. I had an immigrant father. You're doing great, keep going. Eventually you will be like me, i'm almost 40. I hear a sound and I instantly know where to look, what to check, how to fix. Simply by a sound. Being able to fix a car with no check engine light, is the core of what being a mechanic is. It's a talent that isn't gained by going to school for automotive. More importantly, you fix it right the first time, with hearing a sound. Over time I have learned how to use a scanner, reading the graphs and identifying the problem, but thats the stuff they teach in school. I gained it, simply through experience.

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2005 Ford Mustang that the engine noise in the cab is so loud that I have to wear earplugs. I searched all over youtube and they said it is usually an exhaust leak under the cab. I pressurized the exhaust pipe with the exhaust from a shop vac and spraying windex on all the joints. I had no exhaust leaks on my car. I will go ahead and replace my motor mounts. It never occured to me that the engine rumbling would transfer from the engine into the chassis and into the cab. You guys are pretty smart!

    You guys are great. Having done this to two civics in our household, I can say it will take more than an hour for the average DIYer. Also make sure you have heavy duty sockets (half inch drive), a breaker bar, and a way to jack up and support the engine from underneath. I used aftermarket parts from Rock Auto and so far they have been holding up fine. I like your video a lot. Going to check out your others.

I can hear some vibration on idle, the engine is suoersmooth untill 3000 and 3500 rpm I can hear anoying humming. I thought is was the muffler, but now I am question if it could the mount, dealers though are rip off in y country with OEM parts.

    almost 3000 rpms at 45,sometging must be wrong with your transmission.Mine doesnt go that above 3 at 65 mph

    • @EyeOnAiman
      @EyeOnAiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was sudden acceleration on an uphill trying to induce the vibration & noise for the purpose of the video. The transmission is fine, although we've had to replace the 4th gear sensor at some point in the past.

    I have an 09 civic and mine does it bad at startup and idle and it's bad at low rpm in park or neutral but goes away under load but comes back if I let off

    Does it damage the engine if i keep driving when this happning

    • @BurnedAura68
      @BurnedAura68 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't affect much but its really irritating when you do drive it. Eventually you should replace it because its still a piece that holds your motor in place

    • @vladrod9624
      @vladrod9624 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it can damage things around the engine and other parts in time. Because of this vibration, parts can start to loosen up or in time the mount itself could be damaged badly to make the engine shift a certain way and then damage the transmission itself.

      Transmission (auto vs manual) has nothing to do with engine mount.
