Hey backyard chevy, I have a tick in my engine too. Similar to this. After a while and once it warms up the ticking goes away. Could it be this same valve that is giving me problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏
Maybe, the distributor o-ring needs replacement. Check the button of the distributor to see or feel whether it's wet with motor oil. If it's, that maybe a problem which needs to be corrected. Another solution is to add Slick 50 to your motor oil that'll help condition your valves and lifters; to the point that the vehicle will sound better. However, if that doesn't work, maybe, vehicle needs valve adjustment.
So if when you first start the car and it’s quiet then when it warms up a little it starts to purge so there’s supposed to be a little clicking but then it closes?
Does it do it all the time or just ever so often? What i would do is disconnect the electrical connector to the purge valve to eliminate it being the valve..a evap code will come on though if driven long enough though
@@backyardchevy328 it was often in summer, only while driving, sound was like injectors were rumbling . It happens only when I press slightly on gas pedal.

Hello Backyard Chevy, is there any link or brand of the parts you’ve installed here on this video? I’m having the same issues since my 03 Civic LX was inoperable during the pandemic lockdown. I just started driving them again 2 weeks ago and my idle was very low it makes the engine shakes and rattle . Thank you, appreciate your videos it’s very helpful. I’m trying to keep this civic for my daughter to learn how to drive .
Try replacing the Map/maf sensors. It may fix some of the idle issues. On my 97, the first week I replaced them and it automatically worked so much better.
I have a ticking going on that I thought may be coming from this valve. I disconnected the wire while my civic was running, and it immediately shut off. Is this normal for when it's working properly?
My car completely shut off when I disconnected it. I was just wondering if the purge valve was working properly and you disconnect the wire from it, should it result in your car completely shutting off?
Hello there! I have a 2020 Honda HRV 1.8L petrol engine 2wd with 10k miles (R18 engine) that's been making this weird faint knocking sound only after warm up (a few minutes of drive and then it starts). It only appears to be noticed in Drive or Reverse when giving the car some light throttle (1000-1500 rpm) anything above that and the noise is gone, also when going on highways there's no noise, just when you start to move the car in the low rpm range. The noise can be heard inside the vehicle like a thumping sound with windows up and radio off and also standing close to the engine bay. Also, for some reason it is noisier after oil changes (0w20). No CELs, the engine performs great, sparks are new, oil level is on point, valve clearance recently checked, 95 octane gasoline... I'm thinking this purge valve could be the issue, since I feel it pulsating... but is it normal to happen under the conditions I mentioned? I have a video if the sound it makes only under light throttle, I'm really worried it could be rod knock but that would be really unlucky since the car's engine hasn't been abused... hope someone can help.
