    Man your argument is so compelling. The greatest benefit of appendix is faster draw but that’s also dependent on the person. I could even think of a situation where if someone had me a gun point my wife could be behind me and grab my firearm. She’d have to be a good shot and I’d be a shield but there’s neither here nor there lol

    I have been carrying for probably 10 years or so now and I started with a right side draw SOB holster and I loved that. It is easily hidden on my small frame and you can grab it while reaching for the wallet which has its compliments. But I broke that holster and have since been carrying appendix which has its pros and cons. I personally like both methods but they both have their own drawbacks too. I dislike the comfort of appendix but it’s also on your front in that scenario of falling down on your back. Pros and cons.

    I agree with your ideas; especially with smaller size guns. For concealment, with smaller frame guns this works best. This is not a location most people would look for or expect a gun to be. I find with most shirts or clothes worn not tucked in, the weapon remains concealed... of course there is give and take with whatever method you choose.

    I carry SOB. It's really comfortable and very easy to keep concealed for me. It's no good in a vehicle, or drawing while sitting. I guess if you fell on it, it would hurt. Falling hurts sometimes. I can draw with either hand, probably not as quick as open carry from the hip, but quick and consistent enough to be confident. This is a confusing video for me to understand. You expect to have a hand to hand engagement with an assailant and say you can't grab your gun left handed in the appendix position. How is that any different from your back side? You have further arm travel and the grip can only be draw in one direction.
    This seems more like a training issue and a gun placement issue. Fight with your non dominant hand/arm and secure your firearm with your dominant arm. But avoiding the situation is the obvious and least practiced skill.

    • @BullShooterswithJeffJohnston
      @BullShooterswithJeffJohnston  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Because if the gun is placed in the back with the handle to the left, the gun is in a comfortable position to easily grab and draw it with the left hand, because the fingers can slide under the grip. But the dynamic is different from appendix with the handle facing right. Try it for yourself.

    • @a1v175
      @a1v175 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BullShooterswithJeffJohnston Either way you place the guns grip, you have a disadvantage for the opposite hand, front or back. It all comes down to training. As someone who does carry SOB for the same reasons as described in this video, I can say that I really do think it’s perhaps the only position that allows for establishing an easy master grip with either hand quickly. But you will need to practice it a lot to get the feel and the muscle memory in place. I practice drawing palm-in with my right (dominant) hand, but palm-out with my left hand. It works very well.

If you get someone in to of you in a fight, and your absolutely will be in the ground in a fight, then your can't get the gun out. Please please please think ever doing SOB carry. There's a million reasons it's not good and no reason it is good. Three last thing you wanna be doing in a first fight is literally putting a hand behind your back. You should take ECQC with Craig Douglas or Fighting Pistol with Tactical Response. SOB carry will leave you paralyzed if you go to the ground. For the exact reason you say it's a good option. If a criminal is close enough to touch you and you haven't obtained a master grip on the gun yet, odds are you're going to end up on the floor.
