The only people telling you to be different are those trying to sell you something different.
Why they want to sell you something different, you ask. Because tons of other people are already selling you the mundane stuff and competition is fierce.
So you buy the widget and become different. Either you get killed by the lions or you become successful and get tons of attention. People mimic you and buy that same widget. That's the definition of fashion/influencer. Why people feel the need to follow fashion? Because they want camuflage against the herd.

And introverts in their own manner have a heightened receptiveness to this instinct, hence the isolation. This is true of myself and it feels so natural to want to be alone and left alone. Didn't notice the difference before the lockdowns, I kinda enjoy them in my own way because it gives me an abundance of time to myself allowing me to do things I want to completely without social pressure. Plus, after being alone for so long entering social situations becomes positively stimulating even tho it's stressful. Having this balance if you can call it that is vastly more enjoyable than what school was.

I am similar as an Introvert switch, I started tilting towards extrovert slightly, out of wanting to expand my own limits. I think the real issue here, is that the assumption seems to be that there is the assumption that something is inherently wrong with being more introverted, or laid back. It almost seems like extroverts expect every person to be an extrovert, which is very awkward for an introvert, or even someone who, you know, has a little thing called free will.

@@matthewbellis8620 Interesting reply that goes into great depth. I agree with you with the point that people avoid stepping out of the crowd to be themselves out of fear of retaliation. Personally for me, its a fear of feeling anxiety from rejection, criticism , ect for stepping out to express myself honestly in public. I get momentary comfort by staying in the crowd but then regret later and have disapointment at my weakness for not having the strength to be myself. I try to think that the worst that can happen to me is death (which is unlikely) and once I have accepted that and learned to not fear it, I can be free.
I have come to the same conclusion that I dont want to let others decide who I should be. It serves other people, not me, to do so because it places me in a comfortable, labeled box for them.
However with my Christian belief, I dont believe that bodhi or satori are identical to being reborn in Christ. The biggest difference is that the Holy Spirit lives in those who are baptized by the Holy Spirit and have made a covenant with Jesus Christ.

I think this applies really well for bullying in schools. I know it is hard to digest, but in my opinion the one who is bullied is (not always though!) the reason why the bullying is happening exactly for him/her/etc. Why? Because the bullied ones stand out from the mass, which make them noticeable and therefore easy targets for the bullies (=hunters). Our modern society tells us to be who we are and to be proud of it. This is great but it unfortunately too often comes with consequences. If you want to better your chances to have a "normal" bully-free life, don't stand out - blend in the mass. At least when you are still young. Protect yourself, because the real world can be cruel and harsh.

grew up from a family of 6. my father was a workaholic but a volatile man. he drinks every night as a supressant.
when you grew up from that family, you tend to develop this unconscious ability to not be seen or you get lashed at.
when you try to be a golden child and want to be seen, expectations to excel heavily falls on your shoulder. thats bad personality if you want peace of mind.
we were never short of money growing up but we were not that affluent either. but as youngters we always work at our small family business but it never develop in me the wanting and ambition to earn money. instead, it creates a desire for peace becayse even though we earned, we were not happy. it was chaotic and all i wanted as a child was to be left alone and to have my own time.

Hence the need for Jesus Christ. To be a sheep that stands out from the typical human herd and endangered by the world without fearing because the good Shepherd is also the Lamb of God and the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

I was an enlisted army soldier 10 years ago. Unlike you, I did my best to not fit in (whenever I felt I could pull it off).
Whenever I felt I couldn't pull it off, I would just play along for the time being. But in the back of my mind, I was just dying to jump out of the herd mentality.
My life is unnecessarily hard today, because I just will not conform to normal human society.
It's to the point now where if you paid me a billion dollars, I still wouldn't conform.
