I miss Lenny and Titan... ;-; Takt op. Destiny is insane!! Their effort on classical music references is really shown in the show in so many ways. Hell, just look at the title of the anime. "Takt's opus which is Destiny" absolutely crazy how cool this anime is. For the music students here wondering what this is just think about this... Anime.
That my friend, is how you construct a symphonic movement that is melodically and harmonically coherent from beginning to end and raises the hair on the back of your neck. I have heard this movement more times than you can count and it never fails to delight me. This is sheer genius and the way music is supposed to sound if you want pleasure on every beat of every measure. I sing along with the orchestra from the first downbeat to the final cadence. I will thank Mahler when I see him on the other side.
I saw this performed at Poole Lighthouse last night by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. A wonderful performance of this amazing, awesome music. When the eight horns stood up for the final astonishing shattering bars it brought tears to my eyes
Often find myself coming back to this piece... It's awesome to marvel at such an amazing work from a young composer who still had so much yet to accomplish, musically. The amount that Mahler managed to cram into his short life is nothing less than miraculous (although granted, that bears further explanation than I can articulate at the moment, given who some of Mahler's composer-predecessors were that also died young). Still, I can't help but wonder what else he could have musically explored and achieved had he lived past 50 (and still, he still managed to show us plenty!)... I guess we'll never know for sure. I just wish they had invented antibiotics a *little* sooner. 😢
Beautiful, energetic performance. As a horn player, I noticed the single trombone and trumpet which sat with the horns during the last 3 minutes of the Finale to reinforce them. Sometimes they are needed and sometimes not but mostly yes, they are needed as the horn simply does not have the power which a trumpet or trombone has. Maybe if we substitute horns with Wagner tubas (modified horns?) Anyways, great performance.
Is this fast enough for everyone? Reminds me of Lenny's box set of Mahler Symphonies. The 1st one was at least as fast as this one around 17-18 minutes.
Yes, it feels like it's the right speed and right energy and the strings do a great job of it tackling all the knotty parts with precision and clarity. But the horns messing up around 8.55 and a little bit after 9 minutes bother me (sorry to call them out, I know it' s not easy playing at this pace) and made me want to switch to listening to a different version. But the slower versions, (some others are a good minute to two longer) don't feel right.
sad that within this performance - the horns not stood up .-..... - like told by Mahler but - great performance - even met by quite well camera (following)
TRIUMPHAL!!!!

This one movement tears me apart like no other sounds I’ve ever heard. Thank God it puts me back together at the end.
Yes. First part is really heavy and dark but ending is so beautiful

1:07 As you can see, even the conductor is jumping with excitement due to the intensity of this 4th movement of Mahler’s Symphony.
LMFAO

I love the Romantic period of Classical music. This symphony is fantastic. The final movement still brings tears to my eyes.

This symphony and the 9 others is constructed so perfectly because it was written by the greatest symphonic composer of all time!
I can only hope to see this great symphony performed live.
