- This film contains an interview with John Somerville who was convicted for his part in The Miami Showband Massacre of July 31st 1975.
I had never heard of the band until coming across the Netflix documentary. It is always incredibly tragic when innocent people are killed - but it is a momentous scandal when they are murdered just to prove a political point by terrorists working in collusion with a country's government.
RIP lads. From an Englishman.

I think these men are using religion as literal "get out of jail" card. Trying to make it look like they're a new person so they won't have to take responsibility for tbeir actions.
An attack on a citizen was considered a religious attack but attacking musicians is an attack on a culture
Thank that angers me so much with these people they always seem to have murdered up to a dozen people before they seem to see the light, and a man who shot one of the Miami showband member 15 times in the face then telling people he's a man of God absolutely sickening
This was done by the Glennann Gang, a team of paramilitaries with support, assistance and weapons supplied by British soldiers working under cover, and virtually with no oversight.
It is suspected that Nairac was present at this, and directly involved.
People can be forgiven if they truly repent. The only thing that can never be forgiven is blasphemy of the holy spirit. In saying that, I totally understand where you are coming from. It is definitely hard to swallow.
One thing , I’ve noticed about Protestant churches is that they seem to have constant splits with each of them believing that it’s only they alone that have a direct line to God.
There are hundreds of break away from breakaway churches all over just the US alone ..

It breaks my heart, but it's true and they even hate each other. I had to be rebaptized in a baptist church just because they hate methodists, nothing to do with me, but it's not particularly inspiring - being baptized into the pastor's personal feuds.. :'(

Great observation ,The same can be said of the catholic religion so many breakaway's ,It is when they create prophecies and then live according to their own understanding view the problems start , I abandoned all religion as I seen it being made up as we went along and the collection plate was breaking me

The Miami showband killings was a terible act. The Miami Showband was a very popular pop band - it was a mixed band of Protestant and Catholic musicians who just loved their music. So tragic
I couldnt believe such a thing could happen but it did. I was a great fan of this band. This is an excellent documentary and is an education for me into how religion mixed with paramilatarism is so toxic in N Northern Ireland.

In October 2019 the British Ministry of Defence handed over a document naming the British officer who was involved in the planing and execution of the Miami Showband Massacare the documents where given to the solicitor representing Fran O”tooles Widow and this is the first time that Captan Robert Nairac has been publicly linked to this event massacre of innocent musicians,
Robert Nairac will forever be an enigma. Perhaps buried under the motorway that skirts Ravensdale forest, it will probably be unknown at this stage. It's disturbing to think he could have been involved in the Miami massacre. Nairac spents happy days in Dublin strolling through Trinity and listening to Gaelic being spoken in Spiddal. He cannot speak in his own defence. He has gone to a place beyond the cares of this world. Robert Nairac will always be an enigma who became engulfed by the Troubles
@@raygreen5926 It's neither denied or confirmed by the British M.O.D. Nairac was there on the night and supervised the operation,but my friend Stephen Travers who survived the massacre confirmed the presence of an Oxford English spoken authoritive presence on the night in the form of Robert Nairac.
The conclusion drawn by all concerned is it was him .

Lawsuit by massacre survivor Stephen Travers has brought a lot out in the wash ,I haven't spoken to him in 6 months but we've played music together and I also played guitar with another Miami showband member drummer Ray Millar who escaped the attack that nite by driving his own car to his mothers which was closer for him as he didn't live in Dublin so I have it on good authority.

As a Roman Catholic, and from a Irish Republican background, it proves everything I believed, there are good decent Protestants, who don’t want bigotry in their churches, they don’t want leaflets filled with hatred in their churches.
God bless these people, these people who are Christian people, and I class them as much my friends as my fellow Roman Catholics.

I truly do not understand anybody who claims to understand the words of christ and still bring in politics, sectarianism, or any other division and still claim to represent christ, actually think they are justified. The bible clearly says that there is neither jew or gentile, as we are all one in christ. It's in black and white. How can this simple truth not be understood. There is some serious darkness within this particular congregation, but there is definitely more light in that place than darkness. I hope with my heart that these issues get sorted, and all of these people can enjoy the fellowship of christ, and leave worldy matters in the world. It just so sad to see this kind of thing going on in the name of jesus. It's not a bit of wonder that so many people turn away from truth and christ, when this type of nonsense is going on.
