This is so sad to think how many of these women voice the level of stress they've experienced living in the USA. I understand about the war on black men in the States, but I didn't know how bad it was for the women! Then again I left the states over 30 yrs ago and could smell even then a bizarre shift to a much darker side of what's now become the new heartless and lawless America... and I'm white not black yet I too can see the debilitating extent that has affected the black communities.
But I'm so happy to see these women find some peace and tranquility in Mexico! I actually live not far from Sonya and after living in Europe for 22 yrs I also moved to Mexico to be bit closer to my sons and grandchildren who live up in the crazy land. I do understand about Sonya's lament about the lack of younger people in our expat area, I miss that energy too, nevertheless, I've been quite happy with my move, Mexico is sort of like post war Europe... a jump back in time, and I find that comforting.. instead of having to think about data mining, AI and THE Great Reset that seems bound and determined to herd us all into some sort of social credit score world where the un-elected rule the entire world without any democratic input from humanity other than complete obedience ie; slavery. No, that's untenable for any human being.
I do hope to bump into Sonya one day so we can take a stroll down by the lake. One thing she didn't mention is the weather in our area... it's ideal, low humidity, not too hot or too cold and as the Canadians say who flock here in their winter... no snow!
    Peace

Mexico City is the BEST city I have visited in all of my worldwide travel. With all of the issues that scare people away, I hope the citizens know how rich the spirit, people and culture is in Mexico.
Some charities donated money for kids in ther inner-city school to go to Mexico when I was 13. I have been mesmerized since that time.
Favorite place outside of the U.S. , this is where I would live.

The 5 weeks that I spent in Playa del Carmen was life changing. Definitely plan to escape winter in PDC. Had a problem with the original Airbnb but was able to walk around and find a much nicer condo for rent the same day. As a New Yorker, I can't remember the last time I felt so calm. I agree with Sondra that the sidewalks are not for the faint of heart and is probably what I liked the least of my entire trip.

As a single Latina (of a certain age..;o) considering a relocation to MX, I appreciate the information and perspective of each of these ladies. Honestly, the 'other' vlogs are for people who are different from me. I don't have the 'stuff' they have - I always wonder if I would have the same experience - let's be realistic. Thank you, Shida!

Wow just seeing this! I also live in Playa Del Carmen. The sister who says she pays 800.00 a month for a 3bd apt including utilities is definitely not happening right now. Her place in Selvanova area would be about 2000.00 u.s dollars today and you now pay all utilities. Because of the influx of Americans and Canadians moving to Playa Del Carmen, the cost of living has gone up big time.

For Audrey, I was suffering from Sciatica and I found out that pain is often caused by inflammation. My sciatica causes me to walk incorrectly for a year which I believe caused arthritis to set up in my lower back, in the small of my back. I could barely walk. Anyway I checked to see what causes inflammation which causes pain and it's gluten! So I cut out all bread for 2 weeks and guess what??? My pain went COMPLETELY AWAY!! SO now I limit my bread intake to 2 slices every 10 days- 2 weeks and no pain. I just gave up most bread. Since I love bread, I still eat it I just limit my consumption of it. Every now and then I skip up and eat too much and then the pain returns but it's never like it was before. And usually gone in 2 days. Needless to say I'm pretty good about not eating bread because I could only walk About 10-15 feet by August or Sept. Of 2022. The injury I suffer which caused the sciatica happened in April of 2021. I found out about the gluten/bread contributing factor as of October 2022 and have been pain free since then!! Other than what I said.
By the way I'm watching this because I'm considering moving to Mazatlan Mexico for part of the year once I retire. It is on the west coast and looks beautiful. My cousin has been there and she is also planning to retire there.

I made the declaration nearly 10 years ago, that I was moving to Mexico. It is soon to be an Abracadabra manifestation. I fell in love with Zihuatanejo a number of years ago. I desire creative community, peace, and a departure from San Diego California and the USA in general. I am a renter and the rents are egregious for what is offered. I plan to visit this coming summer '23 as soon as my vacation starts. Please pardon my ramble. It's a vow to myself really. Thank you for this treasure of a video. Peace and Blessings.

I have been considering leaving the US for years but wasn't sure where I should go and one reason was race issues. Mexico came to mind because it was still close to the US and my children would not freak out so much if they could not have access to me for various reasons! lol The US is just too stressful for me and I need a change of atmosphere plus Mexicans are our people too. I am going to make plans to visit the cities I am considering in August. Also, do any of the women work in Mexico?
