The bit at the beginning about turning on the cartridge and leaving it running as long as you need to reminds me of a story. When the shiny legendary beasts events were happening, some friends and I were in college in a small town with no GameStop, so we had to go into the larger city of Lincoln, Nebraska to get event Pokemon. The last day of the Suicune distribution happened to be closing night of a play we were all involved in. So by the time we were done, and able to get into town, the mall was closed! But the particular mall we chose had a fun quirk: the parking structure was under the rest of the mall. We drove to a parking spot under the GameStop and turned on our DS's. Sure enough, the employees had left the thing running, and that's how I got the shiny Suicune without actually going to GameStop.

Now that you have the event, it is finally time to shiny hunt it. I can't believe they actually made the illusion form and the actual zoroark have separate shiny odd. So, if you managed to get the legendary beast form of zoroark as shiny, you most likely did not get a shiny zoroark. If you got both shiny on the same fight, you are the luckiest person alive.
Ok but was anyone else NEVER able to access events as a kid??? My parents were very strict about anything internet related and I had no control over any DS Wi-Fi settings 😭 Half the time I barely had any way to know events were going on in the first place, the only one I knew for sure was the 20th anniversary mythicals at GameStop and I was already falling out of Pokémon for a bit by then (only got mew :/)
There's another method of moving those event legends to BW. There's an npc in Castelia City, on the 4th floor of the building the Name Rater is in, that can transfer the Zoroark movie legends, the shiny beasts and Celebi, after saying a specific passcode to them. This lets you use all 4 legends in a playthrough of BW and Zorua with that Celebi.
a few years ago when i was at game store i found both a cartridge of pokemon black and black 2 and i bought them for 50 euros. both games had a save file with a random name and every event item included in the inventories. i had no clue who would put it there or why it had all event items but i was happy lmao
Also, you can recreate Gen 3 events with an R4 and a ds with gba slot. I don't remember the software's name (I made this years ago) but it can "inject" the event items on your gen 3 cartridge. I was able to get the emerald Ho-oh, Lugia, Mew and Deoxys event thanks to this
There is a way to do the events for gen 5 which involves tinkering with your wifi numbers on the ds and go to mystery gift and you’ll get a random one. But can get all mystery gift stuff. I think on gen 4 you can do it as well but it is a tad harder
What great timing! I just went to my local-ish game store to get expensive games. Unfortunately, someone bought the $200 copy of Skies of Arcadia Legends in the month since I was there last, and they sold all 3 of their Platinum versions in that time, too. I did get a copy of Pokemon Colosseum with the box, though ($120). The most expensive game they had there was Jojo's Bizarre Adventure on PS1 for $400.
I do love how most events can be triggered action replay codes. Since most of the events have the data already present on the cartridge. You just need to use an Action RP. Especially true for mythical pokemon events
I totally understand the "something magical" part. After a little bit of research I managed to find a software that would inject 3rd gen events and some event roms that I slammed on my Everdrive. So I was literally able to recreate most of the main 3rd gen events for all 5 games after 15 god damn years or so; and I kid you not, the experience was magical indeed.
They're actually people that put together servers that distribute these events a legitimately and now you have to connect your DS to it, it also works on 3DS. I do recommend looking more into it if you are interested I don't have it memorized but it is interesting to learn to know that there are cartridges that did the same thing as the servers. But oh and these events are through with the Nintendo Wi-Fi.
3:17 the cinderace box is in french! The french name "pyrobut" is a portemanteau of "pyro" (a prefix meaning "fire") and "but", which is the french word for "goal". So it's either a goal on fire or a fiery goal!
To this day it haunts me I remember as a kid being in my local Game Stop back in the day The Wii was new & they were trying to get rid of all there GameCube games for cheap I clearly remember seeing Pokemon Box fully complete for like $20💀 :’))

I still hav my event shiny raikou from the HGSS event.... And used it to get the zoroark in gen5. It weirds me out to know that pokemon is older than a lot of the fanbase
tha fact that you can now get the shiny event beasts in SwSh (and maybe SV too) for yourself to enjoy is just so cool to me, I don't care that I don't have them
I remember going to GameStop as many times as I could to get multiple shiny legendary beasts. I think I have a few copies of these in my HeartGold save file.
I didnt know this, thanks for showing us! I remember for the 25th anniversary the had a mytical distrubtion ever month and some of them where only available at certain toy shops and you had to input a code on your 3ds.
I did actually travel to McDonald's for the Hoopa event. The old Blockbuster by where I use to live was torn down & turned into a McDonald's, it was a super short ride on the city bus over there, heck, I use to walk there back before I learned how to take the bus but I was like 24 when the Hoopa event happened so very comfortable with the bus & I always hated that walk. I remember munching on fries while receiving the Hoopa & I wasn't the only one doing so, there was quite the Pokemon scene where I grew up. Within that same shopping center was a gaming store, it closed by this point in time, actually ended up closing around the time Pokemon dipped in popularity in the early 2000's but they had a super active Pokemon scene during the late 90's. I use to go there all the time but my parents never did let me join in the league, don't think they wanted me to end up being some person in my 30's playing a children's card game but guess what? It happened anyway. So yeah, no embarrassment bringing my 3DS to McDonald's, that's also the location I often times went to when the latest Pokemon toys were available to pick them up & nobody batted an eye, I even got into discussion about Pokemon with an employee there once.
5:40 the cartridges could be programmed with a list existing devices at the time, allowing it to check the devices model name and compare it with he list
OR: you could save a bunch of money by grabbing an old sd card with decent storage, hacking your dsi/3ds and installing the roms of the distribution event carts on there and essentially doing the same thing, plus you can find ALL the roms online.
Last year on ebay i bought a copy of pokemon white for $40 and a Japanese copy of black 2 complete in box for $45. Boy did I buy these games at the right time. The prices just keep rising rapidly.
I remember sitting on a bench near the Gamestop at the mall getting these in HeartGold and Platinum, and then using the multiple save files feature on my Acekard 2i to get a few extras to trade without cloning. BTW is this distribution cartridge dumped and preserved yet?
This is so cool that this has been done. I hope the same is possible for the Gen 6 and 7 ones, though idk considering they were done through QR codes. I’d love any update on this if possible
I remember back then I had a game shark and one of the hacks was to walk through walls and to meet darkrai you had to go north from Byron gym. That was a adventure in itself bumping into a wall ever second. Good times..
I made a video on connecting to a custom server a couple of years back; was able to get the rotom room, the darkrai key, oaks letter, and a few others as well; not sure if it works but it’s a good(freeish) way to get some evnt Pokémon.
There’s actually an exploit that u can do if u have a 3ds and a gen 5 game where you can trick the game into giving you any gift distribution pokemon from gen 5. Its achieved by messing with the internet settings on your system meaning that its technically not a glitch making the pokemon more or les legit. You can get all gen 5 mythicals like this plus more and its fairly easy to do
After watching this I went to ebay and bought one of these as well as we over in the UK got snubbed for these events entirely, it'll be nice to get these shiny bois at long last!

There is a way to do the events for gen 5 which involves tinkering with your wifi numbers on the ds and go to mystery gift and you’ll get a random one. But can get all mystery gift stuff. I think on gen 4 you can do it as well but it is a tad harder
I think I realizes these carts exist when I accidently -on purpose- StreetPassed with a Gamestop
That was Lost Ark in Greensboro, NC! I went there not too long ago and the folks who run that store are super cool!
I recreated a bunch of old events in Platinum and black 2 recently it was fun
I remember going to Gamestop during the legendary beasts promotion and the lady working at the store changed the dates so that this kid could get more than one in the collection
I still hav my event shiny raikou from the HGSS event.... And used it to get the zoroark in gen5. It weirds me out to know that pokemon is older than a lot of the fanbase
tha fact that you can now get the shiny event beasts in SwSh (and maybe SV too) for yourself to enjoy is just so cool to me, I don't care that I don't have them
So happy you did this, I literally had no chance to see any of these back in the day!
I remember going to GameStop as many times as I could to get multiple shiny legendary beasts. I think I have a few copies of these in my HeartGold save file.
Thank you for not stretching game footage sideways! (so many channels keep doing that it drives me mad 😅)
This is so nostalgic. I remember going to GameStop as a kid for these events. Wish I could relive this
I didnt know this, thanks for showing us! I remember for the 25th anniversary the had a mytical distrubtion ever month and some of them where only available at certain toy shops and you had to input a code on your 3ds.
OMG YOU WENT TO LOST ARK! I love that store! So cool to know a big name Poketuber lives somewhat near me!
I wonder, can you get event pokemon in gen 6? I can imagine it'd be quite hard to do considering the systems are differnt.
5:40 the cartridges could be programmed with a list existing devices at the time, allowing it to check the devices model name and compare it with he list
Magikarp song: 🎶Bizarra Pokemon del re-ven-ton🎶
OR: you could save a bunch of money by grabbing an old sd card with decent storage, hacking your dsi/3ds and installing the roms of the distribution event carts on there and essentially doing the same thing, plus you can find ALL the roms online.
you can also do this with roms and a flash cart, just gotta set teh console date to a time when the event was actually happening
Last year on ebay i bought a copy of pokemon white for $40 and a Japanese copy of black 2 complete in box for $45. Boy did I buy these games at the right time. The prices just keep rising rapidly.
can't wait for the Drive The Bus 2: Bonus Disc Edition stream where you go insane trying to get shiny jirachi from the colosseum bonus disc
Any kid that bought this game and had an Action Replay DS knew how to trigger all event pokemon. The internet was commonplace back then, too lol
Next time: JPR buys one of those Mew distribution machine
I've got a few of these catridges. I've got the shiny dog trio, the toys r us dragonite, meloetta, and the European shiny creation trio cart.
I made a video on connecting to a custom server a couple of years back; was able to get the rotom room, the darkrai key, oaks letter, and a few others as well; not sure if it works but it’s a good(freeish) way to get some evnt Pokémon.
To this day my wifi is still named McDonald’s free wifi because I thought it was so amusing.
This is really cool! Also pokemon and xenoblade music and pokemon are a surprisingly good match.
I don’t know what I was seeing, I saw an absolute legendary Pokémon trainer
😂 it's crazy how back then those games were valued at below $50 and now it 3x that
There’s actually an exploit that u can do if u have a 3ds and a gen 5 game where you can trick the game into giving you any gift distribution pokemon from gen 5. Its achieved by messing with the internet settings on your system meaning that its technically not a glitch making the pokemon more or les legit. You can get all gen 5 mythicals like this plus more and its fairly easy to do
I’m proud to say I actually still have all three of my mythical dogs from this event in my Pokémon Sun and Moon game lol
You can DNS all the gen 5 ones
Awesome video dude and extra points for the Kyle Larson shirt🏁
It would be really neats if the roms of this event cart ended up archived on the internet
I actually went to McDonald's to get Hoopa and I remember everyone minding there own business.
After watching this I went to ebay and bought one of these as well as we over in the UK got snubbed for these events entirely, it'll be nice to get these shiny bois at long last!
Nooo you could've just used the DNS exploit that has been available for years now 😭
@@Silverf0x0x Wait a sec, I may have been misinformed, but I thought the DNS thing was only for Black/White and Black2/White2?
@@girthquake2390 Nope, they are for the entire gen 4 too! DPPL and HGSS.(even for Japan exclusives, which I believe is the case for certain Pokewalker routes on HGSS) I tried them all and it worked on all of them 😎
@@girthquake2390 But having access to the actual, OFFICIAL event distributed by Nintendo is still pretty cool
@@girthquake2390 Oh, and don't forget about the never officially distributed Azure Flute. This means you'll be able to shiny hunt Arceus, but I've heard a shiny one can't transfer to Bank(or home? Idk, it'll be stopped somewhere in the process apparently). But if it's normal it should be fine. I haven't verified this myself though. But there's probably videos explaining this :)
I miss going to stores and restaurants for Pokemon distribution events
1:56 It looks like you enjoy Smash Bros. What character(s) do you play, and how do you play (casual or competitive, wifi or offline, etc.)?
You can also use a flashcart since the roms for these cartridges are online.
You can also do this on a hacked 3ds with the roms installed on your SD card. That being said it's a little redundant when you can use PKHEX or PKSM to generate the wonder card.
You can get the cancelled Celebi event from that same cartridge you bought.
wait wait wait. are you telling me that my original copy of Pokemon Box that i bought way back when is worth TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!?!?!?!?!
This is wild bc I remember getting wifi Pokemon like the event celebi and races for HGSS thru wifi at toys R us when I was like 11 back in 2009. Maybe I just game sharked them lol.
can you buy repros of the event cartridges? im usually opposed to buying repros for collecting but theres no way id pay the multiple hundreds for the legit carts
Great To Know I'm Not The Only One With A 3ds With A Broken Circle Pad.
Why didn’t you use the Relocator in Castelia?
A majority of the ds distro carts got ripped to roms. I have distributed pokemon at anime cons in the past when I worked as a convention dealer.
can you send the event mons to home?
